Pirates I dont think DH could carry off the pirate look very well for you guys. Besides I think I have him considering shaving off that beard so hopefully that wont be a factor.![]()
becka said:This is usually about the point where I realize we really are going on vacation and that I might think about doing something useful to prepare instead of just posting here!I start taking an inventory of what we need vs. have and then I start buying things to fill in the gaps. I feel like I spend a fortune getting us ready for the cruise before we even get there.

Most Likely to Get Drunk at Dinner

make the judge feel flattered to be able to help her out.
Becka, many, many people take their kids out of school for a week in the early years. We took DGKs out every year for DL in May and sometimes for WDW in Dec. After DGS started high school we did not. He is now in honors classes and earning college credit as a junior in HS, so I guess it did not hurt him academically to miss a week now and then. Family is just too important and you go when you can go. I will have to add though that they did not miss much school other than those trips.becka said:DS was talking some more about WDW this morning on the way to school. I think it is really bothering him that we cannot go visit the parks at the same time we cruise. He keeps asking me things like Mommy is the Small World ride on the Mickey Boat?. I have to tell him No it is at Disneyworld and then he always says I want to go back to Disneyworld . That poor kid has a bad case of WDW-itis must be genetic!
I am actually finding myself getting very excited about planning another WDW trip. The cruise planning has been fun but there is just more planning involved with a park trip and I know DS will be so much more excited to go this next time. Plus DD will be almost 3 and we can really have some fun with her then.
I am going to make a decision regarding if I want to take DS out of school. I really like Thanksgiving week because of less missed school and less vacation I have to take. However, I know my family will not be happy if we miss Thanksgiving and of course there will be the crowds and the higher resort prices. The crowds are my worst fear.
Oh Caroline! How horrible for all involved.pyramid2000 said:My best friend who moved to San Diego is waiting for her stuff to arrive so they can officially move in. She told me about a friend of hers who lives in Cape Cod, the last place they lived. This friend of hers has a teenage boy who got his lisence a little bit ago. She has always been worried and didn't let him drive much. Apparently, he was driving with 3 friends in the car around the base. They were down the street from home (on the actual street that my friend used to live) when some of the boys had the bright idea to "ride" the bumper. One of them fell of, cracked his head and died. They couldn't have been going too fast as it is a residential area and the roads are a bit curvey. My friends feels extremely guilty that she can't be there for her friend, as her son is in shock from it all. I can't imagine being any of those parents right now.

The glasses could be a problem, I can't see without them.
Well, he was busy typing away and I could only assume he was on the DIS boards. Cannot imagine what else one would spend hours doing.BuzzBoyMom said:Angie - how was our judge today? I thought you were going to invite him to join our chat on Friday?!![]()
lbgraves said:I never go by how the kids are acting because mine seem to be fine but are still sick. Once after DD was 4 & was diagnosed with strep she continued to have a fever & a croupy cough. I took her to the urgent care center on a Sunday afternoon to be checked out. This was during the big flu outbreak two years ago. We waited for 1 1/2 hours and she was smiling & skipping around like nothing was wrong. I was getting very frustrated & would have taken her home if it wasn't for the terrible coughing that she did at night like she was going to choke.I waited it out. The PA came in & checked her and became concerned very quickly. DD ended up having chest xrays done and they couldn't get a good oxygen count on her finger. They called in her regular pediatrician. He came in & was also concerned. She had influencial pneumonia. The stupid doctor that we had seen on Thursday at their office stopped checking her out once the strep test came back. Her doctor was livid when he found out that she hadn't been tested for the flu with the symptoms that I told them and the fact that is was so bad right then. We were there almost two hours after they closed the center. He was monitoring her and trying to treat her. She came very close to being admitted to the hospital that night. The bad thing about leaving that late is that no pharmacies were open to fill the RX for cough meds for her to sleep (and me too). I sat up with her after calling every pharmacy for 30 miles from here. Ours has an after hours number but that was the night the operator didn't staff it. OY BOY! I went in the next day to ask whay I had done wrong & the head pharmacist was very upset! Apparently we weren't the only people needing an Rx that night. I now have his home number.
