School starts tomorrow (8/14) here.

Wow Patsy - that seems really early!!! We go back in two weeks. Next week I'm scheduled to be off from work all week so I can play with the kids. When do you get out?

Does anyone have schools in their area that go year round? What is that like? Do you like it?

Lisa - how many people does one dining room/seating fit? At this rate, could we possibly fill up the entire room with all Disers????

Up until the travel & tourism industry in NC messed it up, our school schedule started the first Monday of August & they were out by 5/10. It was GREAT! We went to WDW the first week of June & enjoyed ourselves. It was fantastic going up to BG in May with few kids there. :) There are a few year round schools here in the same district but not the one the kids attend. They have made a few require uniforms too. I will have to seriously think about switching the kids if they do that to our school. I have so many clothes put away for both kids that they simply wouldn't get to wear if there were uniforms. I don't want to have to spend as much on those wardrobes as I did getting the stuff on clearance. :(

Well, we are up & the kids are eating. It looks like DS will get to camp on time this morning. :)

Karen, with 2400 guests that would be 400 per dining room...figuring 2 seatings and 3 dining rooms so 6 groups. If the ship was at capacity of 3000 then you would have up to 500 per dining room.

So we'd better get cracking getting those numbers up and our dining linked, huh?!!

:rotfl: :lmao:

Well, maybe HALF the room will be filled with loud banana jokes?!!

Good morning and Happy Monday!

John1 - John2's store also cuts the meat there and luckily he has a great meatcutter, but if he ever leaves....

Nutella, we have that here too but looks kind of icky to me, never touched it. When I was young I always thought it was something for grownups...the packaging was not very kid friendly. Actually, I think it still is kind of boring looking.

My mom and sister are going to Disney over Labor Day staying at Caribbean Beach....lucky girls.

I like Walmart and wish they would put a supercenter closer to us. It has been very good to our family. DrHug managed their pharmacy for a few years and it was the best retailer he has worked for (and he has worked for several) as far as pharmacy goes. Better pay, better bonus, and the pharmacy manager actually manages the pharmacy and answers only to the Pharmacy District Manager, not the store manager who knows nothing about pharmacy or the pharmacy laws. The pharmacy techs that he worked with 8 years ago are still there, happy with their jobs and doing quite well.

We also have several relatives that are Walmart employees at many levels of the organization from Exec Vice President to putting bikes together - with benefits and decent pay despite what you hear.

Our retirement plan includes parking our RV in Walmart parking lots as we travel the county. :teeth:

Sorry, will get off my soapbox now. I don't want to start a war on this board for sure, but not everything about Walmart is bad and I do have some loyalty to them for taking care of our family while DrHug worked for them. Guess we will need to agree to disagree. :)

Angie,

I know you well enough that I respect your opinion, and have no doubt that everything you said is absolutely true. However, there is a growing mountain of evidence that the positive things you mentioned apply to only a few - and the vast majority of employees are not treated as well or as favorably. The other difficulty is the sheer power of an organization as large as Walmart. They have absolute power to dictate price to vendors, and the ability to dictate price in the marketplace because of their size. They are about as close to a monopoly as anything in America today, which makes them very difficult to compete with.

Hope Dennis is feeling better!

If that RV ever stops in Canton OH (and I would recommend you do if you like Pro Football), we can show you the sights, and steer you to the unique "local" places!

Good Morning Everyone! :wave2:

It ended up being a shorter night than I had planned. About 4:15 this morning DH and I awoke to a terrible crashing sound in DD’s room. We both took off running (with me in particular in full panic mode) with me screaming “Allie, Allie, Allie”. I was sure she had climbed out of her crib. As it turns out a shelf that we had mounted on the wall that held some knick-knacks and the monitor had come crashing down. Allie was a little startled by the shelf coming down but I think she was more startled because of my reaction. Well after that there was no way she or anyone else was going back to sleep. Although DS did manage to sleep through the whole thing…..

See John....another point that tells you...that you should be eligible to marry people on the boat or island...... (almost got your own gospel of sorts and banana disciples/groupies) :rotfl:

Pardon if this is a silly question but I can't remember when we found out the actual dining rotation. I know we are in the early seating but when do we find out the dining room rotation? Is it when we check in at the ship? :confused3

Planning is so much fun!!

Can you seriously park in there parking lots anywhere or are you just teasing me?

Kim
You can seriously park in their parking lots overnight. I just had 2 nieces and their families who spent 2 nights at the Missoula, MT parking lot while one of thier rigs was being repaired. Lots of RVers stay the night there when moving from one place to another.

Ok this may be a totally stupid question, but do pharmacists get discounts on drugs?

Kim
Nope. Pharmacies have a very low mark up. Most of the cost is from the manufacturer.

If you are not linked with our group you should find out when you check-in. The magic code will be on your KTTW card.

Lisa has been working with her "people" at DCL dining and I believe she has locked in the LAP rotation (6:00 pm) for those of us early diners who are linked.

A few funny DS stories for you this morning:

DS has just discovered the joys of “Tom and Jerry”. He watched a few this weekend and he watched another one this morning when he was getting ready. He was so excited to tell me when I came into the living room that “That cat is always chasing that mouse. In every one!”. :lmao: He really likes it and he couldn’t wait to share that same knowledge with his preschool teacher this morning.

Also, while going through stuff for the garage sale we started weeding out some older toys that are not played with. We like every other family with young children have a problem with stuffed animals that seem to breed in the toy boxes. I was going through some and DS was handling it pretty well but every now and then he would reach into my box and tightly hug the stuffed animal while saying: “Not my sweetest (fill in the blank)”. It was really cute. Apparently he saved his sweetest penguin, dog, dinosaur, bear and squirrel yesterday. :rotfl:

We will definately put Canton on our "must see" list. We do love football! And visiting with friends, of course! We really are very excited about seeing this country. We visited Indianapolis a few years ago (for work) and were so pleasantly surprised at what a good time we had. That was a place we never said "we have to go there", but was one of our favorite places after visiting. We know we will find many more places like that in our travels.

That is so funny! Our DGS LOVED Tom and Jerry when he was 4 also! :rotfl:

Becka - what is it about those stuffed animals?? I actually put two garbage bags full of toys out this weekend...but most of the toys were beyond salvaging, you know, the written on, missing arms kind of deal. It did not begin to make a dent in their room or playroom.

I keep telling myself I will not get sucked in and buy any more toys...but I think most of the time I buy things I would have liked as a kid and never got to play with! ;)

At WM on Saturday I found take and toss princess cups - I hadn't seen them before so I got a few. The girls both got new princess shoes....Haley's feet are so tiny...Samantha was in a 6 at 18months and Haley is really between the (baby) 3 and 4. Samantha is now in the 10's!! Her feet are almost as big as mine!!

Gotta love this thread in the mornings...allows me to catch up on all the late night chattering that goes on sans V!

Well - heading towards lunchtime. I am really craving some corn chowder....there is a deli across the street that makes it but only on Wednesday....
