I meant the salmon trip! :) But Utah to Florida would be WOW!! I would have contimplated driving out to California next summer if my BF was still going to be there and we didn't have plans already. I would LOVE to drive across country!!

Sorry! Duh! I have been on this trip before. You take several planes, the last being a float plane and land on the water in the ocean bay where there is a floating lodge. DH and I did not think this was the best trip for DD because she is still awfully young and I would never sleep knowing she could just wander off and acidentally fall of the lodge. BUT, I will need you all this week. There is no phone service and no internet, so I won't know if anyone killed anyone else until next Friday...

Same for my DD. She'll miss Friday. 5 days the next week and then monday.

Hopefully i can get teachers on board this year to give her her work assignments.

We used to take DS out of school for vacations like this. We thought it was worth it. He turned out alright! :thumbsup2

We drive for a lot of trips, but since this one is during school, there's no time for the drive. As it is we're cheating with pulling them out early for the flight on Friday (they're only allowed 5 days--assuming you get prior approval-- for trips).

In two weeks we'll be headed to visit family in SC, so that's about 10-11 hours depending on stops and traffic.

Marielle,

Is that State Law or school policy?

Kim

DDs will actually go to school Friday morning; we have an afternoon flight. That way Friday doesn't count as a missed day of school (we'll just pull them out by 12 for an "appointment" like we would if they had to go to the dentist.)

Sounds like a trip I would never take! :lmao:

Soooo, you are not worried about accidents or wildlife. Just the other people?!?! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It's a beautiful summer night here. Really cooled off. A nice break from the heat.

Got the laptop out on the patio and a nice backyard fire roaring 10 ft away. A beer nearby, the stars and moon in full view and music from the deck. This is what summer's all about. :goodvibes

What's your idea of the perfect summer night?

So Kristine. DD hasn't been on DCL yet?

no, she's been on more then half of our DCL cruises.

she went with us 3 day Magic -May 1999

we went alone 3 day Wonder- May 2000

She went with us 3 day Wonder - July 2002 & Oct 2004 (missed CC in Oct due to Hurricane damage.

We went alone for a 4 day in Dec 2004. (cause the 3 day wasn't long enough).

If she had to stay home; she'd know what she was missing.....

That's what DH will do with the girls also. Well, it will be what he is SUPPOSED to do anyway! :rotfl:

Kim

that's our school district policy. They pretty much always approve the trips (you have to fill out a form listing some sort of educational value for the trip). The elementary principal usually asks for a journal to be done, and teachers will give any homework (wish she had the teacher who is a mega Disney fan!!). DD13 will be at the middle school, so I hope her teachers will give her work ahead of time.

We're planning on flying home Sunday night if possible--doing a power visit to Universal on Saturday and Sunday.

Oh no, they are very responsible outdoors people with lots of experience, but sometimes my family can be well a little intense. Dad is a PhD in Math, Uncle PhD in Physics, both ex miltary. Uncle works for the government, but he can't tell us what he does. Last trip they decided to figure out how much rain it would take to raise the ocean an Inch. DH said he almost committed Hary Cary. They are really nice giving people, just intense...

Hawaii, on the beach with a pina colada and Jimmy Buffet tunes... Brown Eyed girl la la la

You've got the idea Kevin! :thumbsup2 Some of my best summer nights were sitting outside with friends while the kids were roasting marshmallows.

Wow, that seems pretty rough! Is that pretty much standard in PA? And was it your husband who knew the dr on Mystery Medicine. Cool show! (although I could do without the side show aspect)

Hey Kim - well, I'm not very creative! but I was wanting to use it on my door sign since it was the year '2006' and mickey's head all in one

OK ..... for real it would be Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City outside Bahama Breeze on the deck listening to the live band. Even if it is over 100 degrees it is still nice there. :thumbsup2

I spent too much time this beautiful summer day reading digital camera reviews. Debating what to get in the next couple of months so that I can learn it before the cruise. We really liked the Canon G6 we got awhile ago, but it met a tragic end. I was photographing DS at a baby pool (his big sisters were right there too) when he tripped and fell face first. So I grabbed him but the camera got splashed and ruined. Not a covered repair under warranty either.
