Bummer! DS really does love reading. He is reading at a 3rd/4th grade level so the books are becoming more involved. He just started on the Box Car Children series...and there are tons of those out there! He has read all of the Magic Treehouse books & is anxiously awaiting the new one due out Sept 2006. :) He goes upstairs at 8:30 or so & starts reading. Some nights he doesn't turn out the light until 11 pm and has read 3 or more books. DD enjoys books but isn't at that level yet.

my mom bought us the travel vcr thing for the car when Samantha was born (not very useful then) and we've never even used it. Now I am sure it's considered ancient!

so since many of the DH's are wearing tux'es...ladies how "formal" is your formal wear going to be? I have found great buys at Ross on quite fancy dresses...not that I was getting in to any of them but they were a bargain!

and the techie talk - that $14.99 scan disk - is that the portable one we can use for the computer or that camera thing?

I am like a commando when I drive. Unless it is night, I am most happy when everyone is asleep (and Amy easily obliges me). I can go for hours and hours without stopping, and HATE stopping! I analyze my average speed, and how long it takes me to get where I'm going, how much gas, etc., etc.. Amy also points out I read lots of roadsigns out loud - so she prefers to sleep rather than listen to my rambling and fanaticism while driving.

John

And here I thought that I was the only super compulsive driver!

We lived in the DC area a few years back and I had a suburban assigned to me. It had two 20 gallon gas tanks. I wanted to fill them up and see how far I could getwithout stopping for gas. The trip was about 900 miles and I got 820 miles befoe I had to fill up. Now I did have to stop for potty breaks because my DW and MIL were on the trip and were screaming for a potty stop often. Still I wouldn't put gas into the car because I wanted to see how far it would go.

Their "yearly" picture. I try to be a good mom and take them at least once a year! A couple haven't been real good and we have had to go back but then they were fine!
It took me about 4 posts until I finally realized what you were talking about...DUH!!!!! I hope it went well. Doesn't sound like fun. I have never had that photo opp yet!

I will wear the same two dresses that I wore last year for the formal nights. Which one which night will depend on if they are doing the lifetouch pictures on formal night...which they didn't last year. The black dress will be that night with DD's burgundy dress which matches the print in my dress.

I'm sorry but that idea has me :rotfl:. The only people I know who would want to attend a mamogram party are men! :lmao:
My DH would LOVE  to attend that party!!!!

OK, all these pottytraining tales of boys are giving me hope for DS. He's still being stubborn. I had no problem with DDs (2 and 3 months, 2 and 6 months). DS will be 3 at the end of the month.

I don't know if my 33yo DS is going to appreciate my telling about his potty training but he was done with diapers before he turned 1yo. He had young aunts and uncles (teens) around that help my DW with this.

I have PHASE 10, we play it on the plane for most trips down. It gets left in the carry on bag, so it will be with me.

PJ
We are card addicts!! We also like Phase 10. Did you ever play Phase 10 Dice? It is basically the same except you use dice instead of cards. It goes faster as well.

We just booked our family on the Dec. 9th Costa Maya cruise. We are first time cruisers - well, except MIL.

We are all celebrating birthdays with 5's in them this year. MIL - 85, twins turned 5 and us - some ugh number with a 5 in it.

We will have the late seating. Cat. 7 - Deck 5. Haven't decided much else yet but we will be working on shore excursions. Any advice? The kids like to snorkel.

I'm truly scared now about the horrible tablemates thread - LOL.

Any other new cruisers on this cruise?

elaine

Welcome Elaine! You'll learn to love this thread and the group of crazies on it.

Don't be fightened by the bad tablemate thread. We have never had a bad table in 5 cruises. Also, you can link up with this group and really know someone at your table.

Am I naive to assume that this group is really going formal to formal night? - I am reading some of the old posts concerning tuxes.

I did buy one for my son on Ebay. It was completely washable but did not look bad at all - in fact we got great pictures at their prom for nursery school. I paid $25. for it.

I was more interested in bringing dress up pirate stuff - I thought those pics could be fun!!

Any thoughts?

elaine

I bought a tux a few years back just for cruising. My only concern is fitting into this time. I have put on a couple of pounds since I last wore it. Having said that I do plan on "dressing" up.:thumbsup2

DH and I also love to play cards. When we were in college on a really rainy, yucky Saturday we started playing rummy in one of the common rooms at my dorm. We just originally played to 500 but then we decided to keep going to 1,000 then until 2,000. We finally ended up playing to 10,000! We ended up playing cards all day long. It was fun although I wish I could remember now who won. It must not have been me or I would have remembered doing a victory dance or something! ;)

I finally caught up and now it's time for the chair. My drugs are finally kicking in and I am a little light headed. Don't want to post something about twins that I would later regret. Talk to you later.

I am in my BF's wedding in september. I am going to wear my matron of honor dress. We picked really nice dresses. The dress is costing me $250 including the alterations....I want to get 2 wears out of it!!!!

YOU are soooo lucky... I am getting tired of smelling stinky poop diapers....

You moms know that the smell of the poopy diaper just gets worse with age :sad2: :sad2:

Brack - 33 years ago your son probably wore cloth diapers. You wife was probably sick of washing!!! Not to mention the kids really felt wet and soggy...unlike with pampers.

:wave2: I hope you are feeling better soon Brack!

You deserve to get at least 10 wears.... at $250... it should be worth every penny :goodvibes

About the pottying... when I brought my DD home... DS just started reminding me when his diaper needed changing... I wish he would have followed your son's idea!! :confused3 :confused3
