12/04/08 3 night on the wonder: My Wedding Cruise!

I don't remember which thread I saw it on, but thought I would mention that NASA has a shuttle launch scheduled for 12/4/08. We're planning on getting up REALLY early that morning to head over to Port Canaveral so we don't hit any traffic. It's still early, so there's a chance that it may be rescheduled. Just thought you would all like to know so that you can plan accordingly!! :cutie:

I actually started a thread on the DCL Forum to inquire about the shuttle launch and what we "might" expect if the schedule stands. It sure would be neat to see!! :3dglasses

I was wondering what type of rooms we may get assigned as part of the Land & Sea package? For our last 2 stays at the Poly, we have requested and received the Samoa longhouse - which we LOVE! :lovestruc Other than our connecting rooms (because my parents and sister are joining us), I wasn't sure if I should make any other specific requests this time? I would LIKE to think that we'll be receiving some "preferential" room assignments - Hawaii perhaps?

Our 3 boys will be 10, 7 & 7 at the time of our trip. They are all looking forward to the Oceaneers Club/Lab. How about yours?

I stayed at the Poly years ago but this will be my families firsts stay so we are really not that familiar with which houses are best. But we did ask for the castle View which cost more but we are sure will be worth it. If you have any suggestions that would be great.

Our 9 year old is also looking forward to the Oceaneers Club/Lab. I'm sure they will meet. My 12 year old daughter will be 13 when we go so she is looking forward to the teen club and activities (could be trouble ;)

My son will be 16 by the time we go so he is interested in the teen club too but more so in the onboard activities like basketball and activities on Castaway Cay.

We are looking forward to the grown up activities!:)

We heard about the shuttle launch too but we are taking the Disney Express to the cruise so we won't have a chance to see it (I doubt).

If we don't get a chance to meet up with you before-hand, we'll definitely see you on the bus!:flower3:

As for longhouse recommendations, we really like Samoa for it's close proximity to the pools. Plus it is very centrally located from the GCH/monorail, boat launches, and path to TTC. Hawaii is the concierge building.
Have you seen the website dedicated to the Poly? It is a wealth of information! I can't post it here, but I could PM it if you'd like?

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to drop in and introduce our group. Me, DH, DH's Mom, DH's sister and her two little girls (4 and almost 3), then my mom, my sister, and her son (almost 3). All together - 9 of us! We have 4 Cat 9 rooms booked :cool1:

We're staying at OKW for a few days prior to the cruise.

Here's hoping for great weather (if it's anything like the weather last December, we're gonna have a BEAUTIFUL week!).

:flower3:

Kim & Chris - :welcome: to our group!! We'll be staying at OKW for a few days before the cruise, too!!

Let me know if you'd like me to add you to the spreadsheet for the Fish Extender Exchange.

 I'm so excited, our group is growing!!

Would everyone like to try to plan a DISmeet at WDW AND/OR on the cruise? I thought maybe if you were all interested, we could plan one, but maybe wait until closer to November, that way it wouldn't get in anybody's way of any ADR's they are planning on making. AND, I'm trying to book an Illuminations cruise, so I have to wait and see which night I get that booked...IF I get it booked...wish me luck! :cutie:

Thanks!!!!! We rented one of the Grand Villas (yay!!) so there will be plenty of room for all of us :)

Just an idea, but maybe a poolside meet on Nassau day (that is, if anyone is planning on staying on the ship on that day).

I'd be interested in a DISmeet!:disrocks:
Haven't quite decided if we'll be getting off in Nassau yet...(DH and I have 'been there, done that' - but the kids have not.)
Maybe a DISmeet at WDW would be a good idea so that by the time we get on the ship, we won't unknowingly pass each other by?

Hi,

A DISmeet at WDW would be great for many reasons. So, I guess we just have to sort it out. I guess after we have all firmed up our personal plans we can decide on a good day, time and location to meet.

Sound ok?

Sounds good to me...that's exactly what I was trying to say, I think you said it better. LOL!

That sounds like a GREAT idea to me! IF (and that's a BIG IF) we get off the ship at Nassau, it won't be for very long!!

That's exactly why I'd like to have one at WDW...and then I think it would be fun to have another one on the ship, too. That is, if we all get along at the DISmeet at WDW. I mean, I'm not sure that any of us have anything in common, ya know? :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

LOL, no nothing in common at all. Lockymom - you know that chart you are keeping. Do you think we could add a column that reads....INTERESTED IN WDW MEET? ....then we can put YES or NO. This way we can keep track of who was interested since its so long from now.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what time the Disney Express bus leaves for the ship?? We are trying to plan our day and we don't know how early we'll be leaving WDW.

Thanks

Sure, I can add a column. I'll have to wait until Monday when I'm at work to update it because my computer at home crashed. We've got it back up and running, but Microsoft Works got lost, and I have NO idea how to put it back on here, so I have to wait for DH. :sad2:

I'm not exactly sure, we haven't used the DCL bus since 1998 on our very first cruise. I remember having to meet at a designated place at around 10:00 am and then the bus left at around noon. But, I think some of that has changed since then, so hopefully somebody else has the answer for you!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

I booked a couple of months ago and just found this thread..so, I had to say "HELLO"! I'm bringing 3 of my 4 kids along this time...At the time of the cruise they'll be DD (13), DD (9) and DS (9). DD(13) knows about the trip...but, the others do not..so, I might try and hold off and surprise them the day we head to FL. My oldest (the one I'm leaving at home..again this year) will be in 10th grade and I feel has just gotten too old to make these shorter cruises. We will probably drive down the day before and stay at The Pop Century ..that's kinda become a tradition the last couple of cruises.. I'm pretty sure I've got at least one more mom and her kids joining in with me...last year's cruise was the only cruise I didn't plan with any other families/friends...but, because it was the year of my 40th...and I LOVE Disney cruising...I booked....it turned out there were 2 other families from our hometown on the cruise...and what made that even more magical was that both had daughters my daughter's ages..and they were classmates.....table for 1 at Palo was sad sounding...but, they treated me well!!

I am constantly thinking and planning for my next cruise!!!:goodvibes By the time the trip gets here I will have bought way too "Minnie" outfits for myself and my kids...I already have more than a couple of new things put aside........Door Sign making.....I've certainly been thinking about it...I've got lots of materials lined up...can't decide if I should just update the old one or come up with something new. I love leaving surprises for my kids too....Since I was use to traveling with others..and was use to making lots of extras..last year I went around and decorated a couple of doors...left surprises from Cinderella, Jack Sparrow, Tinkerbell and even Mickey!! I was walking the halls each night at 1 am!!! It was a blast! It all paid off...I left the family across the hall from us a couple of things..and on the last night...she figured it out..and that last morning...I found a thank you note under our door!!

Look forward to checking in on this thread over the next months..and hopefully meeting up with some of you.

Beth

 Hooray!
Our list is growing!!
Welcome GreatDaneMom and aiken4mickey!

Hello everyone! We have just booked this cruise. We had some left over DVC points to use and some SWA free flights that were going to expire in February plus we have always wanted to see the ship decorated for the holidays! Heck, any excuse for a Disney cruise will do.
This will be our 11th Disney Cruise! We will be bringing the Magic back from California in August.

:welcome: to GreatDaneMom, Aiken4Mickey, and DisneySpirit!!

GreatDaneMom - We love early December in the parks, too!

Aiken4Mickey - We're surprising our kids, too. Hopefully we'll both be able to keep it a secret! My son will be 9 at the time of our trip, too...maybe they will hang out together at the pool or in the kids clubs!! My kids like to make new friends on vacation, and I'm glad. I was always the really shy little girl and was afraid to make new friends. :sad2:

DisneySpirit - Our only reason for booking this cruise is to see the ship all decorated for Christmas!! I kept telling DH that I wanted to see it in person instead of pictures on the DISboards. I never imagined he'd book one for THIS year! We were just on the Magic in January 2007.

Well, it's Monday :scared: I hope everyone is having a good start to the new week. I hate Mondays! But, at least it's sunny today...tomorrow it's supposed to rain.

Planning cruise was good... missing the ship :( This is the first year in quite some time that I won't be sailing as much as I'd like :( Since we have to save up for our honeymoon, we're only doing 2 cruises this year, both short ones! Ug... Oh well. I should have the schedule for the new ships in a few months and we'll be booking those for sure!

I'm so jealous! I only get to do DCL once every two to three years and you are dissappointed that you only get to go twice this year! :upsidedow

I'm glad your planning cruise was good. You'll be so busy planning your wedding between now and December, the time should go by fast for you and your wedding cruise will be here before you know it. :cutie:
