12/04/08 3 night on the wonder: My Wedding Cruise!

Hi all - can we join you? We have 2 rooms going - myself, DH and DS4 in one, and my parents and sister in another. DH and I have done a 4 night Wonder cruise, but the rest are newbies. It's too far away - I can hardly contain myself already! Now I have to figure out what these "fish extenders" are...:thumbsup2

:welcome: To our 12/4/08 Cruise thread!!! Here is a link to a fish extender thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607 PM me if you have any other questions. :goodvibes

We have two rooms booked, as well. me, DH, DD5 & DS9 in one room and my brother in law, sister in law and nephew in the other room. The only newbie is our nephew...he'll be one. But technically he's been on the cruise before...he was just still in his mommy's tummy! :lmao:

How are everyone else's plans going? I feel like I have so much planning to do and so much time to do it, but I KNOW I'm going to forget something or run out of time! :rotfl:

We're moving along in planning. We're doing the land/sea package, which is probably not the cheapest option but after planning the last few trips we took with large groups I needed a break from "heavy lifting". :goodvibes

I found a discount on the Autotrain, so it actually worked out to be cheaper to travel that way than to book airfare and tranfers to the cruise. My DS4 is a huge train lover, so he is beside himself with excitement already. My parents and I will leave on the train on the day after Thanksgiving, and my husband and sister will drive down leaving that night. Saturday, when we arrive my parents and I will take my son to Kennedy Space Center and then drive back to Orlando to meet up with DH and DSis to check into a hotel or condo for the night. We'll be ready and raring to go for Disney the next morning!

Welcome vllygrrl!!

I still haven't done a lot of planning, waiting for Southwest to open up dates. I have looked at different hotels by the port although prices seem to be a bit high. Last time, we stayed at the Raddison. This time, I am leaning towards the Residence Inn.

We have a trip planned to WDW in April, so after that I will really start planning!!

Hello,

Well if thing go like they are suppose to I will be joining all of you in Dec.. :cool1: My 28th Birthday in the 3rd so we are planning on doing a pre land at pop and then the cruise.. IMO it is better then going to mexico on Royal Caribbean.. I am going in May too but my mom isn't going so dec will be her first cruise ever, talk about getting spoiled right off.. So once I get back in May I am going to get everything sat up for Dec..

Weclome MoDisneyfan!!

After my post on 2/21. I checked the Residence Inn for prices, again and guess what, there are no available rooms for 12/3 - 12/4. I went to NASA's website and there is a shuttle launch scheduled for 12/4 - Could these rooms have been taken up for that already? I went ahead and made reservations at another hotel, just in case, but will keep checking back for prices to go down or for rooms to open up at the Residence Inn. When we went last December, a shuttle launch was scheduled but then cancelled.

Everyone take care!!

Oh, I'm so excited about the possible launch on our embarkation date!! I've always wanted to be leaving Port Canaveral on DCL while there is a shuttle launch!!! I hope they keep that date!! AND, I hope that you can get a room at Residence Inn...here's some pixiedust: to help your chances of getting the room you want! :goodvibes

Hi,

We are from Prince Edward Island, Canada. We have been to Disneyworld several times but this will be our first Disney Cruise. We are very excited about the cruise and meeting new friends.

We will be staying at the Polynesian resort from Nov 30 - Dec 4 and then heading to Port Canaveral. My husband stayed at the Polynesian years ago but this will be our first stay as a family. We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside many times and loved it. In fact, we honeymooned their.

Imayoyo, congratulations on your upcoming wedding, sounds great!

We haven't booked flights yet because we're waiting for a seat sale. We may have to stay an extra night somewhere at the end of the cruise because we're not sure if we'll be able to get to the airport in time. If anyone has any suggestions please let us know.

Thanks

Island Family, :welcome: to the DISboards AND to this thread! There is another thread going for families going to WDW in November and another for December if you want to check them out. Here are the links:

As far as a flight out on December 7th, as long as you get a flight after noon, you should be ok. We are flying Southwest, so we can't even try to book yet because you can't book that far ahead with them yet. But, as far as staying an extra night...if you need to, you should head back to Disney for that day and stay at Saratoga Springs...that place is so beautiful! You wouldn't necessarily have to go into the parks...just hang out at Boardwalk or Downtown Disney, or at the resort you choose to stay at. That's what we did the last time we did a cruise...we enjoyed that one last day on Disney property before we had to go home. It made being "kicked" off the ship that morning that much easier to handle. :rotfl:

Let me know if you have any questions about the cruise!

Hello, all I'm signed up for the cruise as well and I'm very, very excited and I was excited to see that there are others that are as excited as I am.

I'll be checking in later.

Disney Cheers

Hi Luckymom,

Thanks for the advice about what to do at the end of the cruise. We decided to go back to Disneyworld for 2 nights from Dec 7 - Dec 9 and then fly home. We are going to stay at the Grand Floridian and we're soooooooo excited.

We received a cruise DVD in the mail but it was broken so we are waiting for another one.

We can't wait for the cruise. We've received more snow this winter than we have in many years so the thought of castaway cay is even more special.

Hi,

We've read that some people place their family name or DIS board names on their stateroom door as a way to connect with a meet other families. Does anyone know anything about this.

We had a great chat during supper last night about what we could leave in fish extenders. Sounds like fun!

Thanks

You're welcome!!! That's awesome! I'm excited for you that you're staying two nights at WDW after the cruise!!! That's a bummer that your DVD was broken! I hope your new one arrives quick!

Yep, the snow has been more than normal here too. I'm SO ready for Spring!

I know that most people print out designs on put them on magnets and put them on their doors. I know DCL does not like us to tape things all over our stateroom doors, the tape tends not to come off so easily and it leaves the doors looking pretty tacky. If you check out the Creative DISigns threads, you might be able to find someone on there to make something for you. There was one lady who had a thread called PatsDesigns, but she hasn't been on for a couple months (I hope everything is ok with her).

There's also a thread where people have posted pictures of their stateroom doors. Here's the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=838817

Well, I hope everyone's having a good week and all of your plans are coming along smoothly! It's time for lights out for me!!

I'll be crusin on the Wonder w/ my DH & DD:banana:
This will be our second time on the Wonder. Our first trip was awesome and hoping the second will be even better. This time around were trying a veranda:woohoo: :woohoo: I'm so excited :yay: :yay: Since there will be christmas decorations on our cruise it is only fitting that I put these little guys here:santa: :santa:

:welcome: To our thread!! I'm excited...our list is growing!! :yay:

I would LOVE to try a veranda, but I have two major drawbacks... first I have two kids who are very adventurous and the thought of a veranda scares the daylights out of me! And second $$$$, the cost of a veranda room is just a bit out of our price range. We are rarely in our room anyway, so an inside stateroom is normally what we get. This time we were able to snatch up one of the secret porthole rooms!! Maybe one day, if we take a cruise without the kids, maybe we'll splurge on a veranda.

We finally booked our Land & Sea Vacation last weekend - which concludes with 3 nights on the Wonder (sailing 12/4)!! :yay:

Although we have been to WDW many, many times, and a couple of other cruiselines, this will be our first Disney Cruise. We're not telling the boys (DS10, DS7, and DS7) until we wake them up to leave on November 30th - they are going to be SO EXCITED!! We'll surprise them yet again on 12/4, when instead of heading to the airport, we'll be arriving at Port Canaveral!
Ohhhh!!!! The suspense for the next 9 monthes is going to kill me!!!!!

We're surprising our kids, too! Exactly the same way!! They won't know until we get to the airport on 11/29 that we are going to WDW and they won't know that we are going on DCL until we get to the port on 12/4!!

Well we just booked our "planning cruise" so we'll be on the Wonder in 2 weeks (March 27 3 night). We will be meeting with the Pastry Chef to talk about our cake and viewing a wedding on Castaway with our Coordinator (on-stage dress with nametags on, since that's the only way we can watch it) to see if we have any questions. :)
