11/27/04 the sequel.....

Steph and I will both be there as well, Kim. Not because I worry about you drinking alone--I'm sure Denise is great company--I simply like to drink!

Wow busy busy bees you all are. I still have not packed or cleaned or done laundry! I still have to work tommorrow, take the kids to taekwondo. Then they are testing for their yellow belts on Weds evening! Where has the time gone???? I should have been packing and preparing sooner than this! Now I am dreading it very much! To complicate matters, my 2 oldest kids brought home a project that is due while we are away! SO we are trying to do a quick job getting them done tonight, in order to turn them in tommorow! Needless to say, they wont be winning awards for most creative or the neatest. SIGH I just want them to have something turned in! LOL
All, I will be wearing my DIS board green mickey head on embarktion day. Also, we will all be wearing a DCL shirt. Mine is yellow with the DCL logo in the upper corner ( Where a polo logo would go) DS's will have on matching rugby type DCL shirts, grey and red. DD will have ono light blue DCL shirt like mine, sort of. And baby will have on DCL shirt with chip and dale in sailor uniforms. DH will have either DCL teeshirt with the Magic on it, or a blue sleeveless DCL shirt that has a big white 98 on the back. Or you could just look for the short round girl, with a very loving and helpful DH, followed by 4 children who look very innocent, but are hiding their real selves from the general public :-) I am going to attemot to be 1st in line, if not 1st I will be very close to it, as I intend to get to port at about 10 after 10.
We are leaving here as soon as my DH gets off of work on Friday, and we are staying at the Wingate near MCO.

WHEW, as Pop Daddy says....long post.

Hi, everyone! Today was a *good* day...I'm finally feeling motivated to get things pulled together and am proud to say that I spent the day organizing my clothing, printing out multiple door signs (they turned out great!!), and decorating anything that is coming with me with lime green Mickey Heads. (My cats barely made it out unscathed...they too believe that they're meant for cruisin'!)

Tomorrow is my spa day...a little gift to myself from myself where I will let go off all the stressors and worries of the trip. My goal is to focus totally on the positive and truly count my blessings this week!! What a wonderful life I have that I can get together with my extended family...laugh...smile...make new memories...travel to different countries and try new experiences with the ones that I love. Little by little I find this attitude to be working, and little by little my excitement is replenishing itself!! :Pinkbounc

We have so much to be thankful for and to looking forward to!! I can't wait to meet you guys-thanks for all the help and advice you've thrown my way.

Sometimes it's just a Zip-pa-dee-do-dah day...
:p IVY :p

Oops! A quick question for those of you with older kids (10-12) in the Lab...how many of you are planning to "encourage" your kids to attend the first night for the "meet and greet" and what time will you be doing this-before dinner? After dinner? The reason I'm asking is this: I've been told a bunch that this is the time that the kids get to know each other in anticipation of that week. I'd like to know if you parents out there have a "plan of attack" for getting your kids involved! ;) (Of course, I'm asking for my Why-can't-I-be-in-the-teen-club? nephew.) I'm not sure if the "You just have to go there!" angle is the best for him.

Always the caring auntie...
:p IVY :p

Ivy--I plan to have my DS12 go to the "meet and greet" at the Lab on the first night. From everything I've read on the boards, a lot of friendships are established at that point, so I think it's important that they go.

Denise--I know how you feel. We're skipping TaeKwonDo this week (probably a bad thing to do since belt testing is right after we get back, but SOMETHING has to give). I was up until 11:00 last night getting a project done and am up again this morning at 5 a.m. working on packing. Be happy with your 4 hiding their true selves from the general public--mine appear to enjoy causing mayhem by NOT hiding their true selves. :earseek:

See you Saturday.

--Curt

Denise--if you're at the Wingate on Mill Cove and Hazleton then we won't be too far from you Friday night. We'll be at the Holiday Inn Select at TG Lee and Eagle Watch--about 6-8 blocks away.

DIS Meet - Saturday, November 27th - 3:00 PM - Outlook Bar

Ok, I'm going to cry...I had this long message typed out and after I hit enter the boards went screwy and it didn't post.

Here's the short version -

Curt - We will be staying at the Ron Jon Resort. Kim bremner and Popovich are calling our room when they get in and we're having a pre-cruise meet at the resort. If anyone else is in the area, come on over and say hi! Just call my room (Tuleya - pronounced Tu - lay - uh ).

We'll also be stopping by the Radisson on Friday to say hi to the friends of ours who got us interested in the cruise (thanks again, Angelle!). They have a group of 30 going from all over the world. :wave2:

DH told DS's bball coach that we're going on the trip. We were worried since this is the coach's first year and we didn't know how he'd react. He told us to have a wonderful time and enjoy the trip. He isn't upset at all. That is a huge relief off our minds!!

Tomorrow evening can't come soon enough! I can't really relax until we are at the hotel. I got a hotel room at the airport on Priceline for $45 for the night before we fly out. They have a complimentary shuttle, free breakfast and we're saving $$$! It would have cost us over $80 just to park at the airport! I love Priceline!

Looks like everyone is about ready to go! We haven't even started, although our "journey" to the port is much shorter. Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving and safe trip. See you all on Saturday. BTW, last weather report...both accuweather and the Weather Channel say 76-78 degrees and partly cloudy/sunny on Saturday. Should be just right for sailaway!!!

Sorry, Denise, I got you and Amanda mixed up! I can't imagine how that happened--I have a 4 year old crowding me out of my chair as I type and I'm watching a 3 year old putting on swim fins that were supposed to be in locked luggage (apparently he's figured out how to pick locks).

So, I'll try this again--
Amanda--if you're at the Wingate, I believe we're pretty close to you--about 6-8 blocks.

Denise--you can disreguard the meslilsenodiuje (our 4 year old got to the keyboard during a short absence to rescue a swim mask).

If you decide to cry, Denise, I think Steph will be joining you!

NP Curt. Tell Steph I'll join her in a good cry. None of our vacations have ever started out with me being dry eyed. The pre-vacation stress gets to me every time. Can't imagine what you and Steph have to go through!:earseek:

How fun to wake up and find all your great stories. Noone here is at all excited yet so I am so glad to have you all.

Ivy, I agree that this is such an important time to reflect on all our blessings. I told my husband the other day that I can't believe how fortunate we all are to be taking such a wonderful trip, think of all those who have never left their own neighborhoods.

Ok I have two questions

#1 - how much warm clothing is everyone bringing?

#2 - Does Anyone know of a good local cab company in Port canaveral? Izzinmac gave me the name of Art's shuttle, well that turned out great because they are only going to charge us $55 from MCO to Ron Jon's versus Southern elegance which was $95 so round trip izzinmac saved me $80, yeah! However, they will not pick us up at Ron Jon's until noon on saturday to take us to the port. I want to leave no later that 10am. We have to check out then anyway and I'd rather be at the port standing around than at the hotel. Anyone have any thoughts?

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and if you see three people walking along the road toward the port please don't run us over...
Kim

Kim

If we see 3 people on the road with luggage in tow maybe we can pick you up.

My day today started crummy- the bridge to go to work was closed and it took me 45 minutes just to get back home with the traffic back up (My usual commute is only 20-30 minutes)
Luckily, my boss said I could work from home so that's what I'm doing, very stressed though, and I shouldn't really be on this thread....

I don't think I'll let anyone on the ship drink alone, so Kim don't worry

Still didn't get DS13 new pants I ordered online, hope they come today so I can get him packed.

Anyone with DD 10? mine can't wait and is looking forward to the club. She want's to know what DH and I will be doing when she is busy having fun. I think we'll find a way to amuse ourselves without the kids for a little while.

Back to work!
Sandy

Hi eveyone! I too will be having my son(12) go to the meet and greet at the lab the first night. Like it was said I think it is important to get the kids to meet others right away.
A few months ago I felt all calm and cool about this cruise and what I needed to pack and now I seem to be in a panic. Even though I have a detailed packing list I feel like I'm going to forget something really important. I know the night before we leave will be useless for sleeping.
I don't know about everyone else but I have more luggage than I've ever had before for vacation. The snorkeling gear takes up one good size piece of luggage. Even though I plan on doing laundry (ONCE) i still have alot for only 3 peolpe. Then again we have never cruised before.
I can't wait to meet all of you. Hope everyone has a safe trip and a Happy Thanksgiving. Till we meet Saturday.
Sue

#1- A windbreaker or sweater will be fine! The only "cold" weather shoud be FL/CC and right now that looks to be 70s-80. Our nights have been into the mid 60s. Should be plenty warm for you "Northeners"

#2 - Isn't Denise getting to RonJon's on Thursday? Wonder if she can sign you up for the shuttle when she arrives. I looked in the phone book, and I see a cocoa Beach Shuttle at 321 784 3831. Don't have any info on them, but give them a try. If all else fails, and Saturday morning you are stuck, call the cell phone. We will be leaving for the port about 9:45-10am.

Bob

Anyone with DD 10? mine can't wait and is looking forward to the club.

Hi Sandy--we have a DD10 as well. I'm beginning to think that there isn't an age group we're not representing. I'm sure they'll meet at the DIS get-together. Our DD10 pretty excited as well about meeting everyone and going to Oceaneer's. My DS12 isn't so excited--he's excited to meet everyone--but still wants to sneak into the teen club. Must be a 12 year old thing.

Well, better go--I'm missing a bottle of rum and a set of snorkling gear--somewhere around here there's a drunk trying to snorkel on dry land!

--Curt

Curt glad to hear your DD is same age. Mine will be wearing her lime green Mickey head and she can't wait to make friends

DS just turned 13 last month so he thinks he's WAY COOL to be going to the Teen club. At least he won't be torturing his sister. He told me he will be drinking coffee at the club so I may have to suspend his charging priveleges if I catch him.

TOO FUNNY

Can’t believe how close the cruise is now :bounce: So much to do and so little time.

Curt - you are so funny. Great comic relief while packing.

Izzinmac - thanks again, your number didn't work out but they led me to a company who could help me out. We now have a cab ride so none of you has to worry about calling child protection services when they see my 4y/o hauling his own luggage down the street.

I keep running around the house yelling, "3 days til we leave for Mickey boat" but no one here cares. I know you guys will understand.

Kim

We made some last minute changes today.

Greg and I cancelled Dolphin Swim (kids not sure they want to do it, are they nuts?????)
Scheduled Sea and See Island Tour at 8:15 instead

Palo - December 1st 7:00 pm
Brunch - Sunday the 28th at 10:30 am
Requested "PLA" dining rotation
Spa on Monday morning

Does anyone need me to add a reservation for tea? If so, let me know and I will call it in today!

We leave on Friday morning.

Bye for now,
Gailyn:sunny:
