10 Delicious Days of Deluxe Dining..Day5-Yachtmans Steakhouse-was it worth 2 credits?

We're home...:sad1: and I'm at work already...so sad!!

We had a fabulous time and we ate tons and tons AND tons of food...I don't think I ever want to see food again...last night I even dreamt about appetizers!!

Anyway, I plan to have an update up by Thursday as I work until then and I need to grocery shop and get my non vacation life back in order. I took over 1000 pictures...probably half of them food...so get ready for some greta food porn.

So hang in there an update is soon on it's way!!

It's always so hard for me to get back into the swing of everyday life sans WDW.:sad1:

Can't wait for your reviews!:goodvibes

Can't wait for the reviews and pictures. We are not going back until June of next year so I have to get my fix through all of your wonderful Trip Reporters.

Can't wait for the reviews!!!

Okay, here we go. The start of one mammoth dining review!! 6 people went on this trip so after each meal I got everyone's review of what they ate along with photos. Because there were so many of us you're going to see a lot of different opinions on each of the restaurants. Some we all liked, some we all disliked and some we had mixed reviews on. We often split up so I am missing some photos of some of the snacks that we had along the way but I did manage to hang onto most of the receipts so I have a pretty good idea of what we paid for each meal including the automatic 18% gratuity that we were charged at all table service restaurants....

Up next....Beaches & Cream

Did the Kitchen sink beat us or did we triumph over the largest ice cream sundae we have ever seen??

So, back in my pre-trip report, if you've been reading along, you may have noticed that our flight had been changed and as a result we had to spend most of our first day flying. We had initially planned to eat at EOS at DTD and then get the kitchen sink at Beaches & Cream but we had to change plans. So because Stitch was going to start crying like a 5 year old if we did not go for the Kitchen sink we decided to head for Beaches & Cream for dinner as well as a VERY large dessert

Beaches & Cream is at a really nice location along the pool at the Beach Club resort. We stayed at POP so we took a bus to HS and walked along the water to the beach club. The walk only took about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace and we ended up making this trek several times during our trip (we probably should have done it a few more times judging by the pounds we all gained by the end of the 12 days!). I just found the walk a little creepy at night probably due to the fact that we kept seeing alligators in a bunch of the waterways throughout the property. Thankfully we did not see any while walking this path. It's well lighted but I still felt more comfortable walking in a group of 6...I'm pretty sure I could outrun at least one of them.

So we got to the beach club and we were absolutely starving after our full day of travel and, because they don't take ADR's and there are very few tables, we had to wait about 45 minutes to get a table for 6. The wait went quick though as the buzzer worked throughout the entire resort and we got to visit our first of many Disney gift shops much to Mulan's delight. Finally it was time to sit down. Here's a picture of the outside of the restaurant and of the menu:

The restaurant is really cute with a soda fountain and a jukebox playing music in the background but it is very small, which in turn makes it VERY noisy. The sound seemed to echo of all the tile floors and it was quite deafening at times. I wouldn't suggest coming here for a quiet dinner out but it is a lot of fun. They also did not seem to have a proper table for 6 as it seems we had two very tiny tables pushed together with 6 chairs shoved around it. There was hardly enough room for our food on the table all at once and we had a lot of difficulty arranging it so we could all share the kitchen sink afterward. The restaurant also felt a bit dirty, the tables were sticky and there were napkins on the floors, etc but the waitresses here are incredibly busy so it seems forgivable. They also had a great birthday celebration for one little girl while we were there. The lights in the restaurant all started flashing and the whole restaurant sang 'happy birthday' to her while she got a celebration dessert.

Okay, on to the food. We had all seen how big the kitchen sink is so even though we were all starving we decided to split our dinners, much to Stitch's disappointment. Stitch and myself split a cheeseburger and fries, Donald and Mulan a cheeseburger and fries with extra bacon and fried onions, and Mickey and Tink had a hamburger with fries and an extra side of fries.

All six of us enjoyed the burgers but we were starving so we probably could have dipped the napkins in ketchup and they would have got a great review. They were well cooked and they brought all of our meals out split for us in advance which was really great. The fries were nothing special and I remember them being quite cold which seemed to be a chronic problem throughout the world.

Service wise this was not the best experience. The waitress seemed a little grumpy but it was the end of the night. She also forgot to bring the side of fries, bacon and grilled onions. She did bring it to us when we mentioned it...unfortunately she remembered well enough to charge us for it all!:rotfl:

So, for those of you have never had nor heard of the kitchen sink I recommend that you check out one of the many videos online that show you how they make it. It's pretty amazing to see and it's an incredible amount of ice cream and every other topping you could ever think of!!

The world famous "Kitchen Sink" contains scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, mint chocolate chip caramel, peanut butter and fudge topping, cherries, bananas, brownies, sprinkles and a whole can of whip cream and much more that I can't remember. It comes in the cutest dish...here's a picture of the waiter who prepared it for us.

When they bring the kitchen sink to your table the lights dim in the whole restaurants and yellow strobe light go off while the wait staff announces the kitchen sink to everyone...it's fun but it makes you feel like a real pig! We were given 6 smaller bowls and six spoons to eat it with but Stitch probably could have used a ladle!! Here's a few picture of the progression if the kichen sink.

The sundae is impressive but by the end we all agreed that everything was just a big pile of mush. We were all so full that we ended up just playing with our food! None of liked the coffee ice cream and it would have been nice to have more of a choice in the flavors that you get

Overall, we all enjoyed Beaches & Cream but we probably wouldn't go back...although I'd love to try the No Way Jose. We ended up having much better burgers and service throughout the rest of our stay.

COST:

This meal was on the night before our DxDDP started so we payed OOP. I can't find the receipt for this meal but I had written down that each couple payed $25 with tip for their dinners and their portion of the Kitchen Sink. This was pretty reasonable meal in my opinion but keep in mind that we did split all of our food. Also Mulan and Donald payed extra for their bacon and onions ( I think it was $0.99 each) and the side of fries was also extra.

I'll finish up with a pic of the inside of the restaurant

Up next...the first day on the DxDDP at Crystal Palace for breakfast...was it too much food?? Would we get sick of reservations? Stay tuned to see...

Great review.... I've never had the kitchen sink either. It just seems like a lot of ice cream but it is cool that you got a chance to experience it. I think with your large group it is easier..

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't do it with less than 4 people...it was hard for 6 of us to finish and I'm glad we did it at the beginning of our trip because by the end of 10 on the DxDDP I didn't even want to look at food again never mind a huge dish of ice cream!

I am in! Trying to convience hubby to try the DDP
We've done both the DDP and now the DxDDP and we wouldn't go back without one of them. They work out to be a pretty good deal and eating is half the fun of the vacation!

 Awesome.

Great start!

Thanks!
