Denise: Great ideas -- FE deadline is 8/23 and meeting for lunch on Thursday, our last sea day. I can always drag DH Dave out of the adult pool for a meal.

Gena, I just got caught up on posts and read the news. I'll be praying for you and your family tomorrow.

I've got to decide what to do for my FE gifts!!!! AAAAGGGHHH!!!!! I really meant to take care of that this summer, but it got away from me. Of course, Lori and I had every intention of getting our boys together too. Life just has a way of moving on too quickly sometimes.

I always forget how difficult the first few weeks of school are! I think I'm going to really like my new job eventually. I just have to figure out what I'm doing first. I've got some really great kids though.

Off to get some laundry done!

Oh guys, some of the FE gifts tend to be a little heavy. I ask that FE pockets are re-enforced as my FE gift will be breakable. I will have it wrapped well for those of you that are flying.

Ok, Denise...now I'm curious...This is such a fun game!

Ginger, how were your first few days? Are you seeing students yet? We don't even have a gifted teacher yet. The one we had was servicing 3 schools, and she was moved from ours to another one, so I don't know when our gifted classes start. I'm sorry we couldn't get the kids together, summer just flew by.

Lunch at Lumeires sounds good. On our four nighter, I never ate lunch anywhere but Beach Blanket, so that'll be a new experience for me.

Pretty good so far. I'm sure hopping throughout the day! I started seeing kids Monday. I have two 5th grade math, two 5th grade reading, a fourth grade math, and a fourth grade reading. We had two full-time teachers last year that served all 3-5 graders. The county had to cut our positions to one and a half. The "half" of a teacher is coming from the primary school to serve the third graders.

I know that so many schools are only able to serve the kids in one segment per day. It's just difficult because all of our parents are so used to their kids receiving two segments. It's not fun telling them there just isn't enough room in the classes.

We're doing a lot of stuff involving the Olympics this week, so they think that is pretty cool. They're definitely a hoot to talk to!

Post 4 has been updated with the DIS Luncheon info - noon at Lumiere's on Thursday, and I also changed the FE sign-up deadline to August 23rd.

Glad to hear those of you teachers that are back that things are going OK. I can't believe that Drew leaves on Sunday for college. It just isn't right - seems like yesterday that he left for kindergarten.

Hi everyone-
My French Bulldog Katie had to have emergency surgery today. She had to have a disk removed in her spine becasue it herniated spontaneously last night (not due to any trauma). She is out of surgery but will be in the hospital for another few days to ensure she gets the rest & pain meds she needs.

I hope that everyone can say a little prayer to St. Francis of Assisi for Katie in the hopes she has a good recovery. She is not out of the woods yet and there are still some things that only time will tell us. Hopefully, she will be back to her old self in 6-8 weeks (with some new restrictions, of course!). We were leaving for vacation tonight to go to the beach house in Ocean City, NJ but that has all been cancelled due to Katie's surgery. Hopefully we can see her tomorrow.

Prayers from north of the border as well! Our older dog was sick a few weeks ago and fortunately it turned out to be an injury that healed, but for about a week and a half it really looked like the worst. We just wished she could have talked to tell us what was wrong.
I noticed on one of your earlier posts that you are staying at the Airport Hyatt the night before boarding the cruise. We are also staying at the Hyatt that night.

Hope everything goes well for Katie. I understand how special a pet can be. We have a white minature schnauzer named Tinker Bell that rules our house. Her name fits her perfecly. Please keep us updated on Katie's condition.

On a separate note, we returned home late Thursday night from my uncle's funeral. It was a very difficult time, but everyone is hanging in there. I am concerned about my 2 cousins.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday. DS10 has his football jamboree today. He is going even though he can't play due to his foot injury. Hopefully the doctor will say everything is okay when he goes back Tuesday.

Only 7 weeks to go. It seems like forever, yet I know the next few weeks will fly by.
