10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Welcome TNJohnparents!!! What part of TN are you in? We have quite a few volunteers on our cruise, it seems.

Whew! I am BEAT!!! The first day of school in middle school is just nuts! taking roll four different times, trying to help new kids find their classes, finding who's in the right and wrong class, and just spent the last 45 minutes with kids who missed the bus or taking calls from parents who got on the wrong bus. I told all the new teachers not to judge the year based on today, because it does get better.

I need to put in my leave request for the week I'm crusing. I'm glad I have a boss who is understanding and excited about my trip. Hope none of the parents complain about it too much.

Gotta go pick up my other boys!
Lori P. :)

Gena - So sorry about your uncle. We will continue our prayers for his family and for you.

:welcome: TNJohnparents. Glad you decided to join us. My son will be 9 in a couple of weeks.

Wendy, very impressed that you managed to read all the posts :thumbsup2 .

Does anyone happen to know the dining schedule, such as what night is casual, formal, semi-formal, pirate, etc?? I am trying to look through my closet and decide if anything needs to be purchased before we sail. I cannot seem to find this information anywhere. Thanks for your help!

JW

PS: I was also wondering, when we have our DIS meet on Oct 3rd, how are we going to know who's who?? Should we wear name tags or is that silly??

Attention!!

I am making an executive decision. No new FE participants will be accepted beginning September 01. Not meaning to offend however, but there just needs to be a cutoff. This way, it will be easy to make or purchase the correct amount of FE gifts.

Thanks!

Good decision, Denise. I have put off buying my FE gifts, and have been very glad of it. I want to get it all at once, and know I have enough!

Jacquelyn... I know nights can change at any time, but I believe pirate night is Wed. Isn't Captain's Gala menu generally Thurs night and formal night? Can't remember where I read that... could be making it up for all I know! :lmao:

Great idea, Denise! I was actually starting to wonder if we should have a cut-off date!!

Jacquelyn - I think that formal night is Monday (1st day at sea), pirate night is Wednesday (although may be changed to Tuesday from what I've read), semi formal is Thursday (2nd day at sea) :goodvibes .

I can't take credit for the FE cutoff date. I hadn't even thought about it until Gail had the idea that perhaps we need to set a deadline.

I thought she had a very good idea!

Thanks, Gail!

Just checking in to say hi to all. I have been working on the FE project and though I won't give all away, I did get inspired when I was catching up on all that has happened on previous posts. When you all were making suggestions on different activities for the group someone mentioned a recipe exchange...well, as my Mom & I both enjoy baking we decided to include one of our favourite recipes as one of our FE exchange goodies. Not wanting to sound like it is a requirement, but I for one would really enjoy some of your favourite recipes...just a suggestion;)
I know those of you who are going to F&W will really enjoy...we are not drinkers, so the "W" part of the F&W equation doesn't get action from us, however we really do enjoy tasting the food tasting from around the world and are looking forward to the one night we have.
Also, those going to MNSSHP will have a blast...watch carefully for the headless horseman (he moves fast) and we ended up with enough candy to last our entire vacation, the drive back to Canada, and then some.

Jan-I tried to make Palo brunch reservations, but the only time available was Sunday (Key West) and they wouldn't let me book Jordan...not 18 until Tuesday. I guess if we really want to go, I will have to try to get a reservation Tuesday or later and after we board the ship. Oh well, maybe next time if we're so fortunate.

TNJohnparents-:welcome: I to am a reformed lurker! Honestly, I have been reading these boards for many years without posting, but something about this group made me want to join in the fun.

Again,to all...thanks for the warm welcome...it's been fun:thanks:

Welcome TNJohnparents! The State of Tennessee is well represented on our cruise. I'll add you to post #1. Glad you are now a nonlurker!

Wendy, head to Rockin Bar D to make your Palo ressie when you first board. There are usually ample reservation slots open. Not all get used up precruise.

Lori - the parents will be complaining that you are not there because they aren't going on our cruise! :rotfl: I always find it interesting to learn about different school start dates/end dates in different states. In Michigan, a couple of years ago, the voters passed a law that all Michigan school districts cannot start until after Labor Day. That was to help the tourist industry as many Michigan school districts started school before Labor Day, thus it discouraged those Michigan families from traveling that last week of August and over the holiday weekend.

Have a great day!

Jan

You are welcome! I edited post 4 to add that information.

Mousehse - LOVE the recipe exchange idea. I will add one to my FE gift.

OK - it is hump day! I hope the second day of school goes better than the first. I am sure it will be old hat by next week.

Is anyone heading up the Radisson meet? I would add that to post 4 if you would let me know.

Just checking in and giving us a little bump. Don't know where we were, but since no one has posted since 8am, I'm sure it was low!

Saw something interesting last night... Beverly Hills Chihuahua will open in theaters the day before we cruise. My kids will be very excited to see it on board! We are holding off on seeing Wall-E until the trip, too. Anyone know what other movies I can expect?

Hi MommaluvsDIS (Denise)
Just noticed that on page 1 there are two separate ways to "link" to the FE participants...post 1 directs to pg.128, post #1916 for FE info; post 4 has an actual link, but this link takes you to post #1369. I believe that only post #1916 on pg.128 is updated with the most current info. Apologies...I may have been called "particular" (to be kind) a few times in my life, but what can I say??? It's not my fault...it's in my genes...I do payroll and accouting
:dance3:

Glindamood (Gail)
Glad you like (LOVE) the idea of the recipe exchange...looking forward to your addition!

Thanks
Wendy

I really like the FE cut off. That means I might have a final list before I leave. I hope I got enough but I will figure it out either way.

One day closer and counting!!!

Lois,

Do we need to put the cutoff date up a week? We can do that for all of our cruisers who are blazing the way before us if you'd like.

Just let me know.

OMGoodness, I just realized that we sail in 51 days and I have not even thought about buying anything for formal or semi-formal nights. I've got a feeling that after 18 1/2 months of planning for this trip, it is going to sneak up on me.:scared1:

I'd better head over to the mall this weekend and see what I can fit into.

Lori P. :)

Just checking in. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. I think that moving up the FE cutoff a week (for the LUCKY ones leaving earlier than the rest of us!!) is a great idea!
I'm just at work right now-just waiting for the clock to strike 8pm. The patients are all done and we are just in the lounge.
Can't wait for our cruise in 7.5 weeks!!!!

Okay guys, we need to shore up (get it? shore up?) our Dis Luncheon.

I suggest we meet on the last sea day which would be Thursday. How about 12 noon at Lumiere's? In case Lumiere's is closed, how about Animator's Palate?

Also, due to the fact that some of our fellow cruisers will be on the Magic the week before us, I say we move up the deadline of the FE to Saturday August 23rd.

Input??
