@Snowysmom I had to read your post twice. 60K for car maintenance? Can I be nosy and ask what kind of maintenance costs more than what you could buy a new car for?

@PollyannaMom I know how you feel about your pool. When I used to have one, closing it up always meant the end of summer. But it also meant I didn't have to keep it clean and vacuumed, so one less thing to do!

Sunny and 86 today. I already closed up and put the ac back on. I wished I had done it yesterday but by the time it was 82 in here, it was too late in the day to bother.

I did so much yesterday that I could barely move. Stripped and remade the bed, dusted and vacuumed the whole house. Took down the birdbath out front and the solar flowers, put up all of my Fall decorations. Door mats, garden flags, door decorations, metal yard art signs, etc. I decided that needed to be done before vacation in 1 1/2 weeks, and before I finished fall cleaning.

I just went out and cut back the crepe myrtles that were so high they were blocking the view out of my bedroom windows. I cut back the ornamental grass on the side and straightened out the little fence that the grass had grown through. The cats will be a little lost, they liked to hide in that grass because it was cool and they were hidden, but it will grow back in the spring.

Summer texted me and made me laugh. She bought Gracie a bed frame, headboard and footboard on Amazon. She got a notice that the post office tried to deliver it yesterday but 'the mail box was full'. Really, they were going to try and put boxes that size in a mailbox? It should have been delivered to her front porch. Now she has to wait until tomorrow and go to the post office and pick it up herself and file a complaint. Her carrier is just plain lazy is the problem.

I'm done with chores for the day, no fall cleaning until tomorrow. Going to put a chuck roast in the crock pot for dinner so that will be taken care of.

Have a good day everyone

I assumed she meant the 60 thousand mile mark on the odometer - which probably means replacing a bunch of filters, pads, etc. - so more expensive than the usual oil change, but not $60K in dollars.

That makes more sense than the 60K I took it to be, thanks for setting my brain straight, lol

Judique Kenny found a plumber who has his own business, not a big company. He was quoted $4400. The plumber said the town changed pipe regulations since the hot water heater was first installed 10 years ago so he has to change out some pipes too. More reasonable for sure.

Mona Again, I agree with Lynn. You and your Dad need to get the floors replaced and then you need to get home. You will be more relaxed and not have to deal with so many negative issues. That alone will make you feel better!

Good morning. It is 60 now with temps heading to the upper 70s. Car maintenance is done for another 6 months. Next time is the big one, 60K, and it is the most expensive. I will have to start saving my pennies. I went to Luke's soccer game and it was fun. I love watching the kids play soccer. They are so determined. I have all our LL passes done but want to try to get Jeff on Slinky with us. No luck yet but I keep trying to get lucky with it and get the same or similar time. If not, he rode it twice last month and we have talked about getting on it later in the evening when the line is shorter. I have my clothes done for the trip. I am that crazy person who needs to know what I will be wearing each day. I can just put it out the night before and ready to go after my shower. My NH friend will be arriving here in a bit. Looking forward to a nice chat and coffee.

Have a good Sunday.
My water heater was more than 15 years old and did not comply with new regulations either. Here (in my county) it needs a thermal expansion tank which allows the water to enter it rather than overflowing or bursting. I now have one and it fits above the new heater. It is a safety thing. Mine also needed all new copper piping. You can't win the price going up thing, that's for sure.

Meanwhile I'm housecleaning and also have more workers coming Tuesday morning. In my house, if anyone is coming to work, I always have to rearrange stuff so they can actually work. For water heater I made a wide open area for them to get the old one out and bring the new one in. Otherwise sometimes when the workers move stuff, stuff gets dinged.

So after all that, I wanted to clear out some things. Everything is a memory when I get started, but I did pretty well today. Got a good sized box full of things. Corralled toys that can go to Son's house plus some of his stuff. His high school diploma, yearbook, pictures and other things he doesn't know he wants so I will just bring it over next time I go. If I tell him he will say 'toss it'. No. You sort it and toss it, lol.

DD is making stuffed peppers for dinner. I ate lunch late and had too much food so feel stuffed. Andrews has had 'air show' going on since Thursday (practice flights) and then the crowds go on base Friday through today.

I hear the jets and can see them also as they fly over. Thunderbirds are the stars of today's show. No desire to travel on base as it's just too crowded. The news last evening said it was a hurry up and wait to get parking and get to the flightline to see the shows.

Some people waited as long as three hours. There are airshows almost every year but this year seems to be drawing more interest than usual. I've gone to Ocean City and caught airshows a couple of times. Much less chaotic and a better view over the water, plus staying at the Hyatt I've had a front row seat instead of paying for the roped off sandy spot. And of course, as a former military wife, I've been up close and personal with countless air shows since the late 70ties.
