We are going to the hospital in a few minutes to see Katie. She is improving slightly every day. She is completely out of oxygen so that is positive. Her vomiting has stopped so that is good as well. The things we still need to worry about are : she won't eat and she still cannot move her back legs. While the eating part probably has to do with the fact that she is doped up on high doses of pain meds and Valium. So, she is pretty much as high as a kite!
Some dogs recover quickly from spinal surgery, others take more time. It looks like Katie is taking her sweet ole time moving those darn legs! The vets say it could take weeks for her spine to heal and the swelling to reside. So, we are just taking it day by day & see what happens.
I really appreciate all of you taking the time out of your day to ask about us!
Thank-you!
