You have an advantage--I can't figure out how to see how many we all have.:lmao:

Question for you Bendy--When in October is the F&W festival usually held?

F&W begins on the last weekend in September and runs through the second weekend in November. The food booths are open around the World Showcase in Epcot every day from 11AM - 9PM and there are culinary and wine tasting seminars taking place every day. Then there are the special ticketed events that are also taking place on a daily basis.

If Jay and I were independently wealthy we'd just move into WDW for the whole length of the F&W Festival. :cloud9:

Paige, do you ever watch No Reservations on the Travel Channel? It's a travel / food show hosted by Tony Bourdain - one of our favorite shows and chefs.

His most recent show (until this Monday night 2/11) was a visit to New Orleans. It was eye-opening in many ways - sad but also very encouraging. Watching it made Jay and me want to go back to NOLA sometime soon - we only had a chance to visit there once together but it really made an impression on us and has a special place in our hearts. :goodvibes

I saw that it was playing today and I missed it....dang it! Yeah, I love going to New Orleans. Our absolute fave is Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter. We never miss a trip there when we visit the city. There are Cafe Du Monde restaurants in other locations, but there is nothing like being in the French Quarter.

Now you see why I want Rob to work for Disney when he retires from his current job---for the record, 40 months away.:thumbsup2

OK gals, my playtime is coming to a close..........it was fun while it lasted, but parting is such sweet sorrow, that's all I can say, until the morrow...........:wave2:

It will be on again, don't worry.

The only person in my family who didn't enjoy Cafe du Monde was Grimace. Go figure.

The best part of the experience when we were there:

Jason, Jon, and I all ordered cafe au lait.

Grimace orders coffee.

The waitress tries to talk her out of it because it's not coffee like my mom thinks ... it's chicory.

No dice - Grimace wants coffee.

She gets it ... sees how dark and strong it is ... and proceeds to ask the waitress for a pitcher of milk so that she can "lighten it up." :lmao: :lmao:

I thought that woman was going to stuff a beignet up Grimace's nose! :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That chicory is strong stuff! We love love love the cafe au lait! So she ordered regular chicory coffee, huh? Did her spoon stand up in the coffee all by itself?

Signing off myself girls. I've been up for 19 hours now and I'm still not really tired, but I gotta try to sew my eyelids shut for a bit.

See you morrow. :goodvibes

Well, I'm sure she would have preferred to stuff it somewhere else!

We order the Cafe du Monde stuff a couple of times a year - so good!

All three of us tried to explain to her that it wasn't instant coffee like she drinks at home...that this was uber-strong and had to be diluted with milk or it would burn the hair off her chest (figuratively speaking). She wasn't having any of it.

I wish I'd taken a picture of the look on her face when she first tried to drink it ... it put all those vacation pictures from last October to shame. :lmao:

She was mad - it was our fault because we were the ones who'd wanted to have breakfast at Cafe du Monde in the first place. If she'd had her way we would have had normal coffee in a safe and comfortable setting ... like Harrahs. :rotfl:

I always ask for HP sauce when I go to the USA and I always get the weirdest looks. I forget they don't get HP, they have A-1 or similar, which just doesn't taste the same :sad2: I can't eat pork without my HP sauce

It's like your steak sauce...and its called HP sauce! You can get in some of your food markets.
I've got HP sauce sitting in my fridge right now. I like it so much better than the A1

Us Too!!!!
Lori, Scott, Alex, Julia and Harrison
My dad, Larry

I'll Tanya say if they want some.
Please add Sean and I to the bracelet list:thumbsup2

The last time we were in NOLA was the year before Katrina. Cafe Du Mond was a must when we would go. Just yummy! I miss it.

Ah, New Orleans. The only place where a street performer (clown who makes balloon animals--not a musician) gets mad and tells you off if he doesn't like the amount of money you throw into his hat!!:rotfl: I thought I would die. We were newly married, no money, so we threw in a couple bucks into his hat. Not good enough I guess...then he proceeded to ask me if I found Jesus.....not good when my very Catholic mom walked up. Too funny!
