where do you live in Switzerland? I haven't been there in years and years...

for people interested in cabanas, on the family beach cabanas 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 are still available so i would guess they'll be available for the gold CC people who book at 105 days...

there must be lots of platinum people on our cruise....

he had lots of jokes about west virginia!!

i miss that show!!!

Congratulations to all of you who booked!! Why is cabana 18 so coveted? What is the most liked cabana on the family beach? What check-in times did you all choose?

18 is separate from the rest, so you have a bit more seclusion...

best on the FB i think is a matter of opinion....
i was very surprised to see that the high numbers went first..i would have booked a lower number on the FB, but of the low numbers, only #6 was booked....
i would have chosen 6 or 7.....
but clearly many people disagree with that opinion..

i forgot to do the online check in...
i guess i'll go do that now...

Have been trying periodically all day to check in but it always goes to an error screen.

Will try again tomorrow and then if no luck by afternoon will call DCL and ask them if it is a system wide problem or just my reservation.

i was getting an error too....i didn't try again after that...

ok...i just went in on explorer and it's working now...

i didn't fill it in as i don't have all the information so no point right now..

I have managed to complete the check-in.

Tricia asked what time I chose for arrival which is normally part of the check-in.

But When arriving at that tab, I got a message that said because my party included as Platinum Castaway Club member we could arrive anytime during the check-ins and then board at our leisure.

So we will plan to arrive about 10 30 I imagine......I am actually not sure what the earliest choice normally is.

i think the earliest choice is 11, but i could be wrong..

and the terminal opens at 10:30...

i think we'll probably be there at 10:30 as well.....

just bumping up the list..
i was searching for something in the thread when i came upon the list...

looks like a great bunch!!!! :)

looking at that list and all the kids on it - is there no school that week?

Our kids will be missing a full week of school. (We're from R.I., and I don't know of any schools with vacation that week - at least here in New England.) Our 10th anniversary is 10-19, so we're taking them out to celebrate with us.

i guess there are a lot of people in our group who are taking their kids out of school!!

i'm all for it!! they don't really miss anything and you get to go during a much quieter time of the year!

i'm sorry we only took our kids out of school once...basically the last time we could - when DS was in 6th grade...after that, he would have missed too much...but elementary school is so elementary, it really is no big deal to miss it...

I couldn't agree more! Third graders (including our daughter) have statewide testing in the beginning of October, but I checked with the school before booking the cruise and they thought the testing would be completed before we left. We're cruising regardless! (But, I hope they won't give me any grief considering I tried to be accommodating.)

for the longest time we were so careful not to take our kids out of school - DD is 3 years older....
and then the year DS was in 6th grade and DD in 9th, i decided it was our last opportunity to take them out of school...
so we flew to the US for Thanksgiving at my sister's house and then 3 weeks at WDW, then back to detroit, then home..
they would miss 3 weeks of school, but i decided it was our last chance to do it (the following year DS was starting at a very intense school for boys gifted in science - as it turned out, he never missed a single day of that school for the entire 6 years he was there - he never permitted himself even a sick day, he loved that school so much!!)

anyway, when i went to the head of DS's elementary school and told her DS would miss 3 weeks, she said "i can't give you permission for that"...
and i said, "i'm not asking for permission, i'm just informing you that he'll be gone"..
and that was that....he still finished elementary school and went on to his next school (and now 13 years later is in engineering school - still a total science geek ;) )

anyway, there was no loss at all -and we had a wonderful thanksgiving at my sister's (you haven't seen the most perfect thanksgiving meal until you've been at my sister's for thanksgiving - or for any holiday meal for that matter...amazing table, amazing food, amazing hostess!!!)

bottom line - missing school is so unimportant....much more important is being together as a family....
and all those wonderful family memories are forever and priceless!!!

and who knows what tomorrow will bring.... best to take the time together when you can!!!!

We have Fall Break that week - Monday & Tuesday off, so they'll only be missing two days. Principal will not be happy, but .... (My kids will be 3rd grade & Kindergarten - I'm sure they'll be fine!)
