Hey Mid-Atlantic state dwellers! I just booked my flights. I'm going to visit Mom in Middletown, NJ on Good Friday (3/25) and coming home on Friday, Apr. 1.

I would love to get together with anyone who may be relatively local (Arlene? Andy?). A mini-DISmeet sounds wonderful!

Let me know how that week looks for anyone. Just remember, Sunday is Easter.

Marianne

P.S. Eric--glad to hear you're feeling better.

Oh well...I tried. My boss is in Florida for a few days (until Sunday) and he just got back this past Monday from two weeks in Antigua....just him and wife...they have no kids and big bucks coming in.

Eric...glad you're feeling better! Could you do us a big favor and keep the President over there....only problem is that then we would be stuck with Cheney!!

Snow predicted again this afternoon...no signs of it yet but who knows?? Then we are supposed to get another storm which will hit on Monday night and depending on the track of the storm, it could be substantial. Of course this information comes from a goofy weatherman who does the weather with a bag over his head (GoofyNut...do you know who I mean???).

Going out to lunch with a co-worker today to a small Italian restaurant nearby and he's treating since I do him alot of paperwork favors especially when the Department of Health comes and his paperwork is not up to date...saves him from a kick in the butt from my boss!!!

Marianne...call me or email me...maybe we could get together on Easter Saturday....I know that I had Sharon's phone number somewhere and if I dig into the piles on my somewhat cluttered desk, I may be able to find it because I know that you said she lived near your mom. Tell your mom that I said hello!!

Marianne:

Andy and I would have loved to get together with you when you come east(north?) but unfortunetely(fortunetely???) we will be celebrating our 10th(yes count them 10) anniversary on March 26. We are going to be in the big city and seeing a Broadway play(Spam-a-lot - a play based on Monty Python. It has Tim Curry, Hank Azaria and David Hyde Pierce starring in it).

The reason I sound so surprised that we are celebrating this anniversary is that based on Andys and my relationship(we tended to fight alot) some people took bets on whether we would make it even 1 year. So every year that passes is a great surprise even to the both of us....we keep thinking we are mellowing a little more with each year that passes...

Arlene

Marianne,

Middletown isn't that far away from me either. We're taking Haley to see Sesame Street Live in New Brunswick on Friday but would love to get together for a meet on Saturday. PM me if you're interested.

Reneé

BTW - Mary Jo it's nice to hear from you. I was thinking about you the other day.

Congratulations to both of you!!!! :cheer2:

I've heard about that play--you should have a wonderful time.

I'll be there all that week, so if there's a weekday available, maybe, let me know.

:confused3 What's up with some of the signatures lately? Hope it's not some secret code cause I'm getting too old for this new fangled stuff.

About the Ferret ... you better put a bell on "shim" cause I've heard they like to hide a lot.

Amy & Michele ... I knew I could count on my friends to help me out eith the M & M wedding stuff. As soon as I know what they really want, I'll get back with you when we have a list.

Arlene & Andy ... If you think 10 years of "wedded bliss" flew by, WAIT. Don't feel bad ... Art & I heard that about "it'll never last" too, but I've got one better - my parent's were telling everyone I was pregnant and that was the only reason we were getting married ... Well look out Guinness Book cause I'm apparently holding the record for longest pregnancy!

MaryJo ... I'm afraid our nutty weatherman should take the bag off his head once and a while and ACTUALLY try doing an accurate weather forecast. Some schools have shut down and STILL NO SNOW!

Back to work ............

Here's the answer to your question:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=748671&page=1&pp=15

Q. What's wrong with my signature?
A. HTML style tags, those that use the <> characters, can no longer be used on the DISboards. Elements in your signature that used them need to be changed to use vB code.

Q. But I spent ages getting my signature to look just the way I wanted it! Why are you changing this now?
A. In a word, security. HTML code in posts and signatures opens lots of security risks, and we want to be sure that we provide a safe computing experience and keep the boards running as smoothly as possible. We know that changing your signatures is an inconvenience, but the risks of continuing to support HTML code are far greater.

Q. What are HTML style tags used for?
A. In signatures on the DISboards, < IMG > tags were used to control the size of images, various font tags were used to add color or size or motion to text, and other HTML and javascript tags were used in countdowns.

Q. Where do I find information about what vB codes I can use?
A. Here's a link to an explanation of available vB codes and their syntax: http://www.disboards.com/misc.php?do=bbcode

Q. So what do I do to fix my signature?

To display a photo or image:
First, you'll need to make sure your photo is the actual size (dimensions, in pixels) you want to display before you link to it. Then use the
codes before and after the URL to your photo.

The total maximum FILE SIZE for all the images in your signature is 35K (about 35,000 bytes.) The maximum IMAGE SIZE (the area in pixels that all of your images have to fit into) is 420 pixels wide by 400 pixels high.

For your own photos, you'll need to edit them on your own computer to meet the file size and image size rules, then upload them to a sharing site (http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/index.php is our PhotoPost site, or you can use another web or photo server.)

You can find more help for editing images and adding them to your posts here: Clipart and Photo Primer.

To recreate a countdown:
The countdown generator we used before won't work now. There are several sites that will allow you to create countdowns and then link them in your signature here. Some that other users are using already are www.tickerfactory.com , www.lilypie.com , www.tickercentral.com , www.daisypath.com .

IMPORTANT NOTE: We do not support or recommend any of these sites, but are providing the information to get to them as a convenience to our users. It is still your responsibility to be sure that anything you link in your signature meets the DIS signature guidelines. Many of these countdowns are a little wider than the existing signature guidelines allow, so we will be increasing the allowed width of signature graphics to 420 pixels to accommodate them.

You may have 2 countdowns in your signature.

To fix your text:
The valid vB text codes are - bold, - italic, - underline, [color], [size], [font], . See http://www.disboards.com/misc.php?do=bbcode for examples of how to use these codes.

vB codes do not allow for moving text.

Sorry MaryJo,
even a Cruisetoberfest-friendship has its limits :teeth:
It cost us more than €10,000,000 ($13,200,000) to have him here for about 9 hours - Keeping him here permanently would soon lead to our deficit being as horrific as yours :rotfl2:

Arlene: Thanks so much for the info...we're definitely seeking "easy and relaxing". A few more questions....where did you stay in Orlando the night before and where is Avis located at (in Orlando/at the port)? :)
Regards,
Laura

I believe we stayed at the Best Western which is the same road as the Radisson(just a mile or so away). Nothing special just an inexpensive room. No pool as far as we knew but that was okay....

The Avis was about 2 or 3 blocks from the hotel. It was between the hotel and the port and very easy to find. If you stay at the Radisson it is still only a few blocks from the Radisson but in the other direction from the port.

Boy GoofyNut...your pregnancy is the kind that we like to have up here...long!! Considering we delivered a baby in the triage area and one in the hallway today.....lots and lots of pregnant women around here and boy, am I glad that it isn't catching!!

We are using every available space to deliver babies...good thing that they don't know that we have an extra room in my office!!

Well, it's really snowing here and sticking! Looks like I might be working from home again tomorrow! Yippee.

Hope all the sick folks are doing better. Lots of stuff going around down here too. Good for business. :teeth:
I had to see a surgeon today, the old gallbladder has seen better days. So out it goes! Having the surgery 3/28. I get a week off, then back to work. DD will be home on Spring Break so she can nurse me back to health. Of course DS will also be home.
We still have the ferret. :sad2: Ads are place around the neighborhood, and one will run in the local paper starting Sat. Surely SOMEONE will claim it.
Later,
Avé

Avé,

I had to have my gall bladder out about 6 months after I had Haley. It's a piece of cake nowadays. I was in and out of the hospital in about 6 hours and was out of work 1 week. I have 5 little slits from where they took it out. It definitely felt a lot better after I had it out compared to those attacks. I don't know what hurt worse, having Haley or those pains from the gall bladder.

Take care and good luck with the surgery. Keep us posted.

Keeping our fingers crossed for your surgery. I assume they will do it micro-invasive/laparoscopic. So a week for recovery should be fine. Could you please keep the ferret til Cruisetoberfest IV, Anja and I would like to see it :teeth:

After 10 years both of you qualify for parole :rotfl2:
A Monty Python-play with Tim Curry in it? That sounds awesome!!!!
Will you be in NYC on ColumbusDay-Weekend? If so, the Germs and the Bostonians would love to meet you and as many of the other New Yorkers as possible.
