09/28/2002 Cruise

I've been in and out, mostly out, SULKING! If things keep at their normal pace......we won't be going anywhere this fall!!!!

Did a camping trip. The trip from He**. Had reservations at a state park since February. Arrived about 30 minutes before checkin time, After all, no one checks out at the last minute. RIGHT! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! So after a 2.5 hour drive with 4-14 year olds in our truck, and the dog in the back......things just weren't going well. 1.5 hours after checkout, the person still hadn't even started breaking down the 2 tents in our site and was no where to be found. So we had to walk the park for the few available sites and then try to find one that would hold 2 tents. The kids said they finally checked out their stuff at 5:00 pm. 4 hours after check out. So much for getting to try out site 67 which i've heard so much about

Anyways- the first day it started to RAIN. and I don't mean Rain. i Mean RAIN!!!!!. that only lasted 36 hours. When the rain cleared up, the cold front moved in. Temps dropped to 30 degrees. I finally gave in, went out and got the dog and brought him into our tent, just to help keep me warm. :smooth: Well and then the Alternator went out on the truck. Of course this is the same alternator that was put in 3 years ago while we were vacationing on Oregon Coast. But we are home.

Mutt and Jeff are attending Chip Camp this week. Not to be confused with Potato chips it is Memory chips. The camp is sponsored by my employer, Micron. They whined, and groaned and moaned about having to go. But if you could have seen the look on Mutt's face when we picked him up yesterday. They had the time of their lives. 3 days of pretty intense problem solving, math and science, free lunch and snacks and hey, it was free. They came home with t-shirts, lanyards with an official Micron Employee badge with picture, Micron notebooks, micron pens and an entire assortment of things. (no Micron computers though :( nor a little extra memory)

Anyways, I wouldn't want to feel extremely left out it will only make me sulk more, so I will PM Goofynut with my address.......
I do have to tell you that I did Catch DH reading up on DVC on the internet the other day. I was more than a little surprised.
talk to you all soon......... Its just a little harder with my night rotation.............

smiles Patty

Can another person/family join this party?

My family will also be cruising that week! I'm so psyched! I can't wait. Now I have to start reading up so I can get myself ready for the big cruise.

Is there an updated list of DISers cruising then?

Ok, fill me in on anything I've missed so far -- 63 pages is an awful lot of reading! LOL

Welcome aboard Beth!!!!!!!!!!!
Just send your info to Relling Twin. Her email is rellingtwin@aol.com. She will add you to the list. We are going to have a great cruise and this is a very friendly group. Mike

PS Cathy went to walmart today and picked up our tee shirts:bounce:

Beth E .... Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. Once you can hehehe get caught up on reading the posts, you will find that we are a relatively fun bunch. To get an idea of who's who and how old, from where and what do they do ... E-Mail RellingTwin or PM her with the your names, ages, occupations, hometown, E-mail address, dinner seating, Stateroom #, Special Occassion and where you'll be night before the cruise. I don't think she has done a new listing since 6-13-02. You can PM me with your correct snail mail address so I can send you one of "the packages" with our DIS Cruisears insignia. I have made up name tags for us all and will get your names from RellingTwin's list. She is bringing laynards to put the name tags on.

In case you didn't notice, I sometimes get long winded. Don't worry it's just excitement about the Cruise.

Patty ... OMG, that does sound like the camp trip from h***. Don't worry once you hit the MAGIC you are assured a fun time.

Mike ... I downloaded some sites for Art to check on for the boyancy snorkel vest thingy. Maybe once he gets it he can practice in our pool!!!!!

Back to work....

Hi Beth E!

As a "newbie" to this group, I have to say - these folks are the absolute best! IF we don't have a good time on this trip, something is wrong with us!!!!! Because this group is Ma-vel-ous!

You are a fan of "the guys" - the Lone Gunmen!! They were so great!

Anyway, welcome and see you onboard!

Rae

Welcome Beth and Family! If you send me your info, I will add you to the list and forward you a copy with everyones information. It is a nice way to start to get a "feel" of who's who.
So far we are planning:

Radisson meet for those getting in the day/night before

A DIS get together at the Sail Away party (Deck 10 port side)

A group photo at the Sail Away Party

A DIS Brunch at Polos (day/time still undetermined)

A DIS excurtion at GC....Capt. Marvins StingRay City

We have a logo, (we are making our own T-shirts with iron on Logos provided by @GoofyNUt), lanyards for KTTW cards, and name tags!

I am sure lots of other stuff will be added as the sail date gets closer.

Again...welcome a"board" LOL!

Ohhh! I didn't know about the GC excursion - are we making our reservations now for that or will that be done as something we do as a group onboard ship?
I've NEVER taken an excursion but have read about them.
Let me know!
Thanks!

Rae

Rae...we booked on line with Capt. Marvin. We are taking the 3 hour tour at 10am. So far it is me and DH and kids, TwinAve with her 2 kids (her DH will be diving) and Kathy (Papa's wife). If you book with them be sure to mention you are with the Dis group. It would be GREAT if we could fill the boat with DIS'ers! If we (for any reason) do not make it to GC, Capt. Marvins will NOT charge. They do ask for a credit card # to reserve your spot, but you pay when you get there.
Kathy (Papa's DW) has been there before and speaks highly of the whole trip!

BTW Kathy, you do not have to reserve a spot. I had reserved for 4 adults and 4 kids, then TwinAve's DH desided to do a diving trip, so you are welcome to the "extra" adult spot!

Reports of this trip have been VERY positive!I love the RC commerical where they show the family swimming with the StingRays!

Howdy everyone! (and Patty since you are lurking...this will save me an email)

We thought we would have between two weeks and a month to move out of our house. Seems though, we have till Friday. So...we are packing like crazy!!!!!!!

Will catch up will all when we get in the new house. Have a great...whatever till I see ya'll again sometime next week!

Karen

I missed the info on Capt. Marvins. Can you give me an update? How much, what does it include, will it be a problem that I don't swim? Will we also be able to get to the Turtle Farm and H*ll? I was thinking of doing the excursion that included all of this but if this is cheaper and has the fun people then that's where I want to be!

Hello everyone!

Does anyone know if there is an age requirement on the Capt. Marvins excursion. I have a 6 year old.

I don't want to wish the summer away but I don't know if I am going to make it to 9/28!

Palo's brunch sounds great! Count us in :)

Hi Everyone! I am glad to see the interest in the Sting Ray Snorkel trip. I have done a bunch of research on this and we have decided to skip Hell and Turtle Farm for more time snorkeling. I have heard mostly so-so reviews re: Hell and TF and most trip reports say the only complaint of Capt Marvin's was that they wished they did the 3hr instead of the 2 hour tour.
They will take reservations via the internet. They are within walking distance from the tender dock(the office, you takea van to their boat)
Web site is:
Here is some info from it:www.captainmarvins.com

Stingray City sandbar, where you may feed and swim with the 'rays

Snorkel at the beautiful Coral Gardens

Snorkel at the incredible Barrier Reef!

Price: US$39/ages 12 and over; US$22/ages 4-11; under age 4, free!

Price includes round-trip transportation from the Waterfront Centre, or from your condo or hotel on Seven Mile Beach, PLUS snorkel gear, life vest (optional), food for the stingrays, and icewater and fruit punch on board the boat.

Count us in for group pic and brunch. Will also be with the Capt. Melvin tour. My DS will be 5 y/o when we cruise and have already checked, he is welcome aboard with Capt. Melvin.
mlshields: maybe our kids could "buddy up" with us keeping close watch of course. My DS (Casey) has been working on using a mask, but not a snorkle. Still should be fun for all of us.
Rae: If you don't do this excursion I hope you try something else. My DH was worried about the dive trips, but I said it would be a shame to come all this way, and miss some of the "once in a lifetime" chances to DO THE DEW! Right?

And something Rellingtwin left off her list: Space Shuttle Launch scheduled for the Sunday Oct. 6th. We are planning on checking back into the Raddison on Sat. then staying for the launch the next day.

A note to newbies: My family and I have Never been on a cruise, never mind a Disney Cruise. But the people on this thread have made me feel like I've know them forever.

GoofyDisney: Do not envy your move, I HATE moving. Happy trails, see ya soon.

Hello all again!

Hope everyone is doing good, not sure why we were not mentioned about receiving a "package", what's up with that?

Out with the old in with the new?

So we have been forgotten :( Yes Cathy we would love to have a shirt design to wear proudly and say our friends from the Cruisetoberfest made these for us! We would also wear these on our next cruise which is October 26- Nov 2. We have a cruiser with us that has a business of making shirts, please check out our shirts

http://www.prideproductions.com/new_page_6.htm

Not sure if I posted this before but we will not be able to cruise next October with everyone, I am so sorry! We had it all worked out to go the end of September (really pushing it too on time) but next haloween we are going to Paris Disneyland. No I am not spoiled, Scott is!

Also I have posted our cruise pictures on
www.picturetrail.com
just go to visit album and type in "danscott"

Has anyone heard from the "Tulirose-rich"? Also does anyone have Eric and Anjas email? I need to send them a thank you for the picture CD.

Papa and Cathy, I am mailing you a package tomorrow, you should receive it soon!

Anyone want a Buckeye?

Tkae care guys, miss you all!

Dan

Hi all!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm so excited about the cruise. My husband and I have cruised before on Norwegian Cruise line.

I have taken a four night Disney cruise, but it was very spur of the moment and I didn't have a lot of time in advance to prepare or read up about it.

This will be a first cruise for our two daughters though. At the time of the cruise they will be 7 and 4 years old. (We will be celebrating her 4th birthday on the ship since it will have happened just a couple weeks before!) It will be the younger one's first Disney experience at all. The older one was at the parks for 10 days when she was 5 1/2.

I am a total Disney nut! I moderate on the DIS which I really enjoy since I get my Disney fix.

Oops have to run I just heard something break upstairs! I will post more later.

Sorry bout that!

DH dropped a glass and it shattered. I wanted to go and help him clear it up and make sure that he was ok.

I was giving you all a little bit of info (except for the fact that I am a talker so nothing I do is a little bit!) about my family.

My husband likes Disney, but not as much as I do. I have to gauge his reaction to the idea of being with a whole group of DIS fanatics! LOL I'm sure he won't mind hanging out some -- but be prepared that he may want to talk cars too. (Got to humor him!)

Hi Gang! Version 9.0 of the LIST is in your mailboxes. Please ignore the 1st one (I goofed and sent 8.0)

BethE..DH is also a car/truck nut! Also big time into NASCAR.

Dan...LOVE the T-shirts!Sorry you won't be able to join us next year. Have a great time in Paris!I am going to be seeing Rosemary and Richard next week when I visit my family on Long Island.I can't wait!

Karen....sorry you have to move in such a rush! Everytime we move I swear it will be the LAST TIME!And it never is!

Hello Beth. I read here lots but don't post too much as I get busy! I had to post a reply when I saw your comment about your husband and cars! My husband is also a car fanatic. He has several cars and likes to talk about all cars. I have to admit he is knowlegable(sp) I have four kids but will only be bringing my then eleven year old son with me. The oldest has grown and flown. The fourteen year old girl doesn't want to come and the six year old boy well, he is six and this is a special trip for the eleven year old. He won the cruise on our last cruise in February. Anyway, will be glad to meet you.

Hello Everyone else, Have been lurking and enjoying reading all about your trips, families, etc.
Had a great time at Disneyland. We are getting ready to go to the Oregon Coast for a few days.

Have a Happy Fourth of July.
