Thank you for your condolences. I don't have any problem talking aobut it because as trite as it sounds, God does work in mysterious ways. And out of the tragedy, many people were given a second chance at life because of organ donation. We gained strength in ways I can't begin to count, and although we will never fill the void left - we have made the best of ever challenge we faced with her loss and have learned so much.
Remember in the "Wizard of Oz" when the Tin Man said something to the effect of that he didn't know he had a heart til it broke? Well, that was me when I lost her. I didn't know I could ache so much. But she is always with me and I refuse to allow her death to overshadow her life and will always celebrate the time I had with her.
I can't say that every parent will or can ever get to feel this way or even if it's the "normal/healthy" way to be, but it's the way we have learned to live with the loss. I volunteer with the organ donor program as much as possible and "chat" with other bereaved/donor parents.
I do believe that faith is the answer, and organ donation helped - but some people can't get over the pain regardless. And I can't fault them, it's so unnatural/unreal and unfair to outlive your children.
Christopher changed his major and is now in his 3rd year of physical education/exercise management. As I tell him, he's a great son but lousy daughter. I am hoping that a future daughter-in-law will help!! After college!
Michael has been interested in meteorology for the past 4 years, especially violent weather (tornados especially) and I wouldn't be surprised with his "acting" ability if he does get a weather forecasting job. He says he wants to be a "storm chaser". He already has a "wife" picked out - too bad she's in her 20's and married! That's my Michael!
Sure will be nice to meet everyone from our list, looking forward to this trip very much - especially room service! Right now a cheese plate sounds delicious.
By the way, we were "Family of the Week" on our last cruise - the Dining Room gave us something extra every night - fruit bowl, cake, cookies, cheese plate, etc. After eating all day, we were glad to have the refrigerator! I found out that there are other departments that do this - but only one family per week per department. It's the luck of the draw.
