09/28/2002 Cruise

Moose, bears, and porcupines, OH my! And I thought I had problems with racoons, deer, and chipmunks! Of course on Florida Golf courses we do have gators.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ave'

Have played with them gators, snapping turtles, & snakes (copperheads & diamondbacks). I think I will stick with the BIGGER prey. They're not as ill-tempered as the reptiles.

RellingTwin - Chrystina tells me that we will be dining together? Thank you very much for the invitation. Should be fun. Thanks.

HH&GB to all

Hi Papa,
no, we haven't been to the Love Parade - We're not THAT CRAZY ;)

@GoofyNut: Just tell your GI-friend to contact us, and we will be happy to play local guide for him and protect him from the natives :) It is more than probable that he will come via Frankfurt, if he's travelling to Germany. I've just got a question concerning him being like me: Is he as handsome as me, as smart or as funny ? :jester:

Have a friend at work whose DD stepped on a copperhead and caught a glancing blow from the snake and had to stay overnight in the hospital. Boy that was scary. Have been picking blackberries and had to watch for them too. Copperheads are mean and will lay in wait on an unsuspecting person. Rattle snakes let you know they are around and may I say, mighty fine eating!:p

Am babysitting with Katie girl and she went 7 hours between feedings last night! Her mama will bust when I tell her. At 3a.m. Katie needed changing and then went right back to sleep and didn't wake up until after 5:30 this morning. I put her beside the aquarium and she watched the goldfish until she went to sleep after her breakfast bottle until DDIL woke her up. :( Then Mike felt the need to rock her to sleep. Oh well. She is so cute. We took her to the hospital last night and weighed her...10 # 7oz! At least she is not continuing to gain a pound a week. Whew!

Cathy, my sewing room looks like a baby store threw up in there. I am going to iron on the logos today come whatever! Mike washed the shirts so the logos would stay on and now need ironing. My shirt is not quite the same baby blue as Mike's but who cares? Well, it would have been nice to have the same color.

I am gettin so excited about September! I have got to find some shoes for the trip and maybe a nice dress for the formal night.

Have a good, dear friend at work who was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have radical surgery and will now be on chemo and radiation therapy. Please pray for her and send pixie dust her way. Thanks. She is a wonderful and funny nurse and we all love her so much. She is a grandmother of 4 and the same week she was diagnosed with it, so was her mother diagnosed with bone ca. Her mom is 83 and had undergone a knee replacement but for some reason was not healing like she should. She needs our prayers also.

On that note, everyone take care. See you in September. Kathy

Viking ... He is amazingly both crazy and good looking BUT modest ;)

PowerAlaska ... Are you sure you were at the golf course and not the Zoo!!! Maybe you need to pack a firearm in with the gol irons or maybe animal snacks.

Mike ... Maybe you can hire-out to help new mothers get their babies on a sleep schedule ;).

Kathy ... Gave me a thought, need to see if my "formal stuff" still fits.

RellingTwin ... ? Do we need our own towels for the StingRay swim .... Just wondering, cause I'm starting to "accumulate" the stuff I think we'll need into my "cruise box".

Mike ... Maybe I should have Art do a dry run with his suit too. Funny story about his array of suits in various sizes. Remind me to tell you about it when we cruise.

Send for our passports Saturday ... Don't panic newbies. My SIL gave me a story about someone on her Carnival Cruise boards and DH got nervous. We have sailed 3 or 4 times with Disney and only used our birth certificates without any problems. Actually I'm taking both and only telling Disney we have the Birth Certificates, the passports are only for emergency use.

Kathy ... Pixie Dust and prayers for your girlfriend and her mom. Hopefully things will work out OK for them both. At least now they can do so much more for them than years ago.

Well back to work .....

Got my package from @GoofyNut! Well, actually I don't "have" it yet. My husband has it and I won't see it until tonight. But I know it's in New Jersey.

Thank you @GoofyNut.

Beth ... Hopefully your husband dosen't have to work overtime hehehe;)

OK it's official, today has been awful .... I WANNA CRUISE NOW
:bounce: :bounce: A bad day on a cruise sure beats a bad day at work!

Has anyone heard if they have left my favorite lunch and snacks ... Pluto's Hot Dogs, Chicken Fingers, Fresh Fruit Bar and the noodley bar at Topsiders. Somewhere I heard that they were
getting rid of the Fingers, etc :(

NO SAY IT ISN'T SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they get rid of the chicken fingers what will Mike eat between meals? He loves those things. I like the fresh fruit bar and the icecream that I cover with the coffee as a snack. The guys that work there didn't quite understand what I was doing but they finally got it. I love coffee cream. :) Kinda wish for a pb&j sometimes on the boat in late afternoon and it really is a crime to call for one from room service. Maybe that could be another option at the snack bar. ;)

Katie just left with her mom. :bounce: I am one tired grandma.:D

Alaska, how big are those salmom you are going after? (The green eyed monster is approaching from Tenn. Just pure envy.)
I did hear that y'alls mosquitoes are big enough to rope and ride though. Yuck! Does OFF work on them?

Cathy, I hope your evening is going better. I haven't put the logos on yet, because of Katie but now she has left and I am off tomorrow again, so... I just can't wait for the cruise either.

One of my friends and her hubby are going on a 5 day cruise next Sunday and leaving from Tampa. They are taking their daughter to camp in Chattanooga on Saturday and taking thier time to drive to Tampa. (Carnival ship) Wish it was me. Sigh

I seem to remember that my sis and I took our own towels to the Stingray City thing. I am sure Disney wouldn't mind us borrowing thier towels though. Just the same...I think I'll take mine. Oh, that reminds me I need one of those carry thingys to keep towel and burn cream in. Can you believe I don't have one?

Mike just found a pair of his brand new shorts we bought for last years cruise, guess who has to go and get some new clothes. By the way Cathy, don't forget the collar stretchy button things. The first year we cruised, Mikes' collar just would not stretch around his neck and we finally found some in the gift shop on the ship, from then on we always carry them with us. :o

Take care everyone, Kathy

@GoofyNut: Modest? First time ever I had to look up a word in the dictionary :jester:

@GoofyNut -- my husband gave me the package! The stuff is great. I can't wait to put it to good use.

I have a bit of a cold so I feel a bit foggy -- can someone explain to me what they are doing with the pillow case? I remember someone saying they were going to use a pillowcase, but I don't know for what.

Beth ... Seems some of the gang is putting "yu know" on a pillowcase and leaving it at Guest Servies to have signed by Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, etc. I read somewhere that you can do that with shirts too. I was thinking about getting a small t-shirt done up for signatures ... then wehn I come home I'd stuff it with pillow fluff and sew uip the openings ... might make an unusual throw pillow!

Glad you got the "package" ok ... NOW HEAL :bounce: :bounce:

Kathy ... good idea about the collar extender/stretchy things. Where do you get them besides on the ship? :bounce: How did you nail Mike down to trying on his clothes for the cruise? ;)

Well back to work.....

I e-mailed Captain Marvins to add our family to the excursion. I received a response from Joan. She said she had no clue what I was talking about. Not overly friendly.

What now?

Vonda

Vonda...I wouldn't worry about it! I booked ours almost 2 months ago and I am sure she deals with hundreds of people/reservations each week. As long as we are booked on the half day 10am trip I am sure will be on the same boat. Even if we are on different boats I am sure we could tell them we are together and work it out.
Did you book?

2 more weeks and we can pre-book the DCL excurstions! Also we should begin to get our doc in a few weeks! YIPEE!

Papa: prayers and pixie dust to your friend and her mom.
Beth: hope your feeling better:)
I for one am not buying any clothes for the cruise until the last minute. Just too much room for error. DH on the other hand will be bringing the suit he wore when we got married 13 years ago. Doesn't that just make you want to gag.
Got a double wammy at work today. My best medical assistant, and fellow Starfish Team member is quitting.:( :( :( She has 3 kids and the daycare expenses are so high she just can't justify working. I'm so sad. She has made my life at work a joy. The last time I enjoyed work this much was when I worked everyday with my twin sister Mary. And that was 3 years ago. Second wammy was when I opened up my paycheck. Was expecting a 2% "cost of living raise", which we get every July. Well it was not 2%. It was fourteen cents! Well, no one can ever accuse me of going into nurseing for the money.;) Oh well, sorry for the :( s. Just needed to vent.

I am excited to say that Dennis and Chrystina (Power Alaska and Power Alabama) will be joining TwinAve and I (plus hubbys and children) for dinner while on board. TwinAve just forwarded me the confirmation from the TA. SO.....it's too late to back out now Dennis and Chrystina!LOL!

TwinAve...so sorry to hear that your co-worker is leaving! It happens SO often, get someone great, train them, and then they leave! We are so use to working short handed it almost feels "normal".We have been looking for almost a year! The nurse shortage is really bad in SC.

OMG...................14 CENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( and they wonder why no-one wants to go into nursing anymore!)

The 9/14 group started booking their DCL excursions! Docs should be coming in about 1 month!
OK folks time to get into serious shopping mode!

DD Regina must be enjoying her camp. Each day I have worried I would get a phone call, and each day nothing. I am very glad because this means she is having fun. Regina has had some difficulties with seperation in the past, and I was worried she would find being at a sleep-a-way camp very difficult. But since this was her idea( and going horseback riding everydaywas a BIG part of this)she had been counting down the days.I am hopefull this will help build her self confidence.
I must admit I was also glad to see she was not the only one who was feeling a bit anxious. 2 of her 3 cabin mates were also first timers who were a little worried.

Vonda..if you e-mail Capt. Marvins again, our res is under the name Mary Jager.

Oh no...DH is watching "Brave Heart " again!I think I'll go join him for a little while;)

My DH and I just recently signed up for the 9/28 cruise so just wanted to say hi. I see that this thread has been going on for a long time. Don't have time to read all 75 pages. This will be our second cruise this year and yes GoofyNut they still had the chicken fingers in June. TwinAve we having nursing in common and Beth E I love to scrapbook.

Well, will look for you around the ship.

Nancy

Welcome to Nancy and her DH! So glad to have you on the 9/28!
I assume from your comment about nursing that you are also a nurse. That make 5 nurses! What area are you in?
What do you mean you don't have time to read all the pages!!!LOL!It would ONLY take a few DAYS!
I hope you will join our "Sail-A-Way" party (deck 10 on the dock side of the ship) as we leave Port Canaveral.
If you would like a list of the other cruisers, and/or would like to be added to it please e-mail me (RellingTwin@aol.com) and I will give you the details.

WELCOME ABOARD!

Hi Nancy! Welcome! Always happy to have a new Cruiser. 75 pages is a bit much, maybe you could do the last 50.
Hope you and your family will join us. I have never been on a cruise, but these folks are the greatest. They have helped me with any and all questions, and concerns. They are the BEST!
Hope you can join us for the sail-away party, or the get together at the Radisson on Friday. As Mike always says " we are a fun bunch".
SO much Happier now. Talked with twin sis about problems at work and was able to get a better spin on things. Can't worry about thing you have no control over, right? It's just money...right? :earseek:
Night everyone. :oSee you in the morrow.

A whole bunch of nurses? I feel better already! Now I know that there will be lots of medical advice on the ship. LOL

Hi Nancy! Nice to "meet" another scrapbooker. I haven't done any work on my scrapbook yet -- life has been so hectic -- but I am certainly going too.

I'm pleased to hear that they still have the chicken fingers. They were great and I know that my younger daughter will go to town on them.

Look forward to meeting everyone.
