09/08/07 Early Check in September 8, 2007 Western

We purchased insurance for weather purposes. It wasn't the Disney insurance, can't remember who it was through. When we purchase insurance we always make sure to get the insurance that has a medical contingency in it, basically it says if you are hospitalized in another country you can be airlifted to the US and that will be covered.

I'm having dinner with fltink & hubby tonight so I am SURE we will discuss the C-R-U-I-S-E!!!

stina :wave2:

You know.....I THOUGHT some of these handles were familiar! so after a bit of research....we're also "veterans" of the September 10, 2005 cruise, and seem to recall a VERY warm-looking bride and groom heading back to ship on the Key West dock after the ceremony.

Let's hope the temps in KW are a bit kinder this time!

...and Happy soon-to-be 2nd Anniversary fltink and hubby!

Thanks for the anniversary wishes... it's # 37 for us.
I was planning some things special but it all fell apart by 7:03 this morning!:headache: So I decited to do wednesday night, and Im turning off my cell phone...ALL DAY!!!:woohoo:

I always buy the insurance. And Ive had to use it twice. The ins comp. paid for everything, and I mean everything, including the box of kleenex and bottle of water.

Nope... no tickets here today, but I did receive the wristbands!
They are all bundled in family names and ready to take a cruise:yay:

Ann :hourglass

Well today is officially 26 days until 9/8/07! Who's already packed? Who's still fretting over having everything ready (me)? Who's got their tickets (not me)? Who's got nothing but the cruise on their mind (me)? princess:

Not me.
Me.
Not me.
And an emphatic, Not Me for your last question as I have a wedding in 18 days first! :bride: ;) Honeymoon here we come!! :D

The first few cruises we did we skipped the ins...then DW's grandmother had a stroke and other complications. We realived that many things could happen at the last min that would cause us to miss a planned cruise!

Since then we always get travel ins. We shop around for it and lately we have been getting it from Travelex (online). We've never had to file a claim, but...

This year for us to cover $3k cost of trip it was $152. I think you can do it almost up to boarding, though there is "pre-existing exclusions" for long term health issues.

I'm with Bill, it's not too late.

Ray

We use Travelex lite. It covers kids 16 and under for free. Since I have a 91 year old grandmother, cruising in hurricane season, you just never know. I'd rather have it and not use it, then need it and not have it.

Friends of ours who cruised with us last year bought the same insurance and needed it for an eye infection. Called the insurance company when she got home, they sent a form to fill out and had a reimbursement in 2 weeks.

Bill

You know...you are seriously funny! We went to Cedar Point already this year. The kids LOVED the new ride Maverick. Hope your brother and sister-in-law have just as much fun. And by the way, I LOVE THIS WEATHER LIKE WE HAD TODAY! I actually got to turn the a/c off and will be sleeping with the windows open tonight! Nothing like that wonderful 58 degree breeze blowing through the windows, fluttering the curtains as you sleep. AHHHHH! Unlike that Florida humidity! EKKKKK! Can't even breathe when you go outside!

(insert several smiley faces here).

I can't wait to meet you guys. You sound like very fun people to party with! WoooHooo!

Well congratulations early on your wedding!!!! What a wonderful way to honeymoon...partying with a bunch of goof balls! We'll be sure to make it an adventure you will never forget!

My DH and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon 17 years ago! We didn't do DCL, but was on Royal Carribbean. It was absolutely wonderful. That was my first cruise, and I've been hooked every since. I remember when we had to debark, I cried! I didn't want to leave the ship! I felt like a princess on that cruise. I wanted to take all my wait people home with me!! They were so much fun. I wish I could cruise more often, but with two kids and tuitions, car payments, mortgage, and everything else...it unfortunately is on the back of the list usually. But once the kiddies are off on their own, and hubby and I are free to travel, I think cruising will be my first choice of seeing the world.

Again, congrats! Take care and relax...it'll all be beautiful.

I think I'll look that insurance up. You got me worried now about weather and such. I looked on the Hurricane Center website and this year is supposed to be above average for hurricane activity! That's all I needed to see! I'm getting the insurance because it takes too long to save for these types of vacations. I wouldn't want to lose out . Thanks for the tip though. It's a definite good thing to have.

if you go to www.insuremytrip.com you input your cost and it gives you all kinds of different policies to pick from and their cost.

Don't get too worked up about the hurricanes. It's a normal part of life down here. When a weather pattern forms in the Carrabean or off Africa it's tracked almost to the foot and discussed daily from Aug to Dec. That's not to say that they aren't something to be aware of, but they're kinda like kids, they're always there and sometimes they break things. In the case of hurricanes you usually have lots of warning!

Thanks for the information! I just went to the website and bought the Travelex lite. I feel a bit calmer now. Again, I wouldn't want to lose out if something did happen. Thanks again for all the information. You guys are such pros at this stuff! Hugs and Kisses!

We purchased our insurance from Access America. We wanted the pre-existing condition option so we purchased within 14 days of making our initial cruise deposit. Two adults 60+
Emergency medical transportation coverage $500,000.00
Emergency medical/dental treatment $25,000.00
plus the other standard coverages
$186.00 total premium

Lets put it this way; I'm not losing any sleep over it. I just tend to be OCD, so if it sticks in my head I'll do nothing but fret about it. Therefore, I just won't think about that stuff and I'll be sure to take my Zoloft and everything will be fine! HEHE
I do appreciate the reassurance and words of comfort though. I really am very excited to meet all of you; I am a people-person and the more people the better. Everyone on here seems so nice and personable. I believe this will be a vacation I'll never forget, and come away with many new friends to boot. I'll only think good thoughts from here on out!

I did purchase insurance today. I feel a bit better knowing that if something happens, we are covered. As long as my family and I are safe, that's all I care about. I don't believe DCL would put any of their passengers in harms way. I've had nothing but good experiences with Disney both on land and sea. I know they will take care of any problems. But, we aren't going to have any...right gang?

By the Way, my message about being OCD was for ch10dad's reply back to me. I forgot to include the quote in my reply

let's hope none of us needs to use it!:)

I'm sure we'll all be fine! :thumbsup2 Worst case scenario, if there's a hurricane we might get diverted to alternate ports. I remember in Sept. '05 there was a hurricane the week after our cruise that caused the Eastern cruise following our Western intinerary to become a Western! This is a risk we take traveling in hurricane season, but the prices are oh so cheap! (Well, cheap compared to peak season DCL prices!)

Hope everyone is doing well today. Only 24 more days until sail away! :woohoo:

I'm not worried. I don't plan on getting off the ship anyway except in Castaway Cay and Cozumel. I may be forced to get off in Key West if the ship doesn't have the Eagles game on. Can you say Rum Barrel?

I always get insurance but just thought it was even more of a no brainer now with hurricane season upon us.

Bill

We are on this cruise also. Just my wife and myself.

We took the 3-day cruise in Feb and loved it.

We will hopefully be staying in DW on the 7th, so if we are, we will try an stop by.

It would be nice to meet some of the other people on our cruise before we board.

For me one of my favorites (aside from club check-in time:banana:  )
is the sail-away party....

Ray

Aside from EVERY moment? I actually treasure the quiet moments the most. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the deck parties, sail away, shows, brunch, dinner, etc......but I truly treasure days at sea, sitting in a lounge chair on deck 4 with a good book and enjoying the breeeze.
