09/08/07 Early Check in September 8, 2007 Western

sorry about that folks, my tornado comment was meant to be directed to DnJLaw777! i somehow got confused there. :confused3 must be because i have CRUISE FEVER!!! :woohoo:

so bill, animal kingdom lodge is completely closed right now? even the restaurants?

Stina, DAK Lodge isn't CLOSED but there is heavy construction. They have actually called guests who are booked to stay there and asked them if they would like to move to Saratoga due to noise concerns.

Well, I used to think that we don't have to worry about tornados living in NYC. Well. I guess it's time to change my thinking! An f-2 touched down in Brooklyn Wednesday morning (about 10 miles from us) A lot of roofs blown off along with the side of a house. If a tornado ever scoops me up, I hope it deposits me at Port Canaveral & not Kansas.
See all "youse guys" in 25 days!

Chris
I'm with you sgtslovak! If a tornado scoops me up...I hope it deposits me directly on a DCL cruise ship! I saw the damage on Good Morning America to the Brooklyn area that was hit by the f-2. What a freak of nature huh? Who would have thought a tornado would blow through Brooklyn, NY? Well, you New Yorker's are strong peoples...you survived 9/11, you'll get through this with no problem. Via la New Yorker's! Besides, I love a New York accent! I'm hoping the recent turbulent weather isn't any indication of a bad hurricane season...I worried about that when I booked this cruise in September. Hopefully, Mother Nature will cooperate and be kind to all of us!

Not that i am hoping for a hurricane, but would disney have to sail us around in large circles if a hurrican sits over the east coast od florida for a few days? :confused3

OK I stand corrected, it's not closed. Sorry for the erroneous information.

To all -

Multiple repsonses to different posts -

First to my brother Dan, It has been known to happen, cruise ships moving around storms. Much easier to move a ship around a strom front than to clean up the mess after a storm.

Weather in Ohio - Still cold. Like Uncle Jimmy (Buffett) says, can't wait to go sailing again (few more hours and I will be home in Sunny Orlando).

There is construction going on at the Animal Kingdom Lodge as well as at Contemporary. Disney has pulled down one fo the wings at the Contemporary (small short structers), they are building timeshares there.

As far as cabin's go...... We have done so many cruises that we actually find that we spend some time in the rooms. You can only learn how to fold napkins, cut fruis, mix drinks so many times. I do agree that we don't spend a lot of time in the room, but we have found ourselves spending more time that when we first started cruising. We (all 8 of us) are booked in CAT 6 rooms, consecutive.

Dan and I are headed to the game tonight, the tribe versus the dreaded Yankees. Look for us on tv:cool1:

Hope all is well -

OK have a question about Palo. Is it OK to go there the day the ship leaves port or better to wait for another night? Maybe your luggage wouldn't be at your cabin yet or something?

I just grabbed one at 6:30pm for the first night but might cancel it. Didn't think it through, just saw it was available and grabbed it.

BTW there is still availability at 6:30pm on the first night as of now. Only for a party of 1 or 2 though.

I'll be checking this when I get home from work later tonight.

TIA

Bill

thanks for the tip off bill. just went on dcl and it says there are palo dinner, brunch and tea reservations available for parties of 3-4 but when you go through the system and get to the final selection of times area it says no reservations for every single day. very strange. i think i'm just gonna wait and do the rockin bar d hustle when i get onboard and see if there are any slots open at all.

I'd prefer Tuesday night to Saturday but want to make sure I have something.

After my wife watched the Disney DVD she said she really wanted to do it.

So if I can get Tuesday once I get onboard I'll cancel Saturday if that's allowed.

Bill

Hey, Stina, take good care of my hubby tonight, ok? And thanks again for all of the furniture that you are donating to the "Fill Up Jenn and Jay's Giant Empty House Fund". We appreciate your contributions!

Bill,

The first night is fun...we also like going on the last night.

Ginny :cutie:

We are still on the NO LUCK LIST for Palo. Hahaha. I keep checking but it's booked up solid. Oh well, I figure if I get a ressie online then it's cool if not oh well, I will let it go. I can not wait to GO!!!!!!! 25 days left before we take off to Sunney FLORIDA!!!!

Good evening, or should I say good morning (it's 12:10am here) party peeps.

Re: Palo tipping. I think you leave a tip that you think is appropriate. It is not required, but the service there is so exceptional I can't see why you wouldn't want to tip. I figure that the meal we will be eating is worth about $100. So I usually leave a $20 tip. That of course is in addition to the $10 per person Palo fee.

TinkerbellTris, don't give up hope on Palo. You can always try to get something once you get onboard. Something will come up.

That's what I left at the specialty dining room on Princess and just wanted to make sure i didn't short anybody.

We are all getting excitedl now! :cool1: Lots to do at work before I fly the coop!:rotfl2:
August is flying by!
I too have been shut out of Palo ressies but will be trying to get a brunch when we get on board.

I couldn't have said it better. We just try to figure out what the meal would cost at home (a little difficult since we don't eat in the better resturants) and then leave a 20% tip when we sign for the 10.00 fee at the end of the meal.

Are there any Travel Agents on board? I've been considering the bis but don't know what the in's & out's are...:confused3
