Well... it was the first message I could read without my glasses!:lmao:

Welcome aboard Rebecca,
Sorry about the knee surgery. You'll still have a great time.
That was a great idea... recoup from surgery doing a cruise. I should have thought of that a few years ago for my knee.:rotfl:
When is your surgery? :grouphug: and pixiedust: to you and your family.

The Other Ann :3dglasses

This is the 5th cruise we have gone on in 3 years. We started going very September (Jims birthday) and February (Daceys birthday). I've had 8 operations since my daughter has been born in 2000. We have been planning the procedures by our cruises' for the 3 years. I had my second knee surgery and carpal tunnel surgery in February this year but it was unsuccessful and I now need a full replacement knee this July. Boy, am I looking forward to this (I'm trying to get blood donors now). There are alot of things to prepare for including sending my daughter away for the summer to my parents (and away from my knee) next week. So, like all of you, I have not done anything for the cruise (including renewing our passports). Oh well, maybe we will have to stay on castaway cay.

Welcome Rebecca! Dacey is such a cute name. My bst friend is pregnant and naming her daughter Pacey. Welcome aboard! What a way to recoup from knee surgery.

Lois, sending prayers your mothers way. Two of our nieces are in remission. One has Leukemia and the other has Neuroblasphoma. It has been a rough few years, but all is well for now. Cancer is a horrible thing. I struggle to understand why there is no cure. I will pray for your mother tonight and send positive thoughts her way. Stay strong!

Well, dh and I went to Nordstrom today to plump his wardrobe a bit. Now, FYI, my dh is a typical-non-shopping-male, so Nordstrom is right up his alley. You just sit down and they bring you clothes based on what you tell them you need. It was WONDERFUL. He racked up with all kinds of Tommy Bahama stuff, new dress sandals, new belt. Of course, I thought he was going to pop a vein when they rang all the stuff up. He turned white as he was signing the reciept. He has no problem buying a n expensive TV, but God forbid he spend money on quality clothes that fit right. He is usually an outlet shopper. He loves the irregulars (one lg longer than the other-button a little off). So be sure to tell him when you see him onboard how snazzy he looks. Maybe that'll ease the pain of the initial purchase :lmao:

Night all! I'll be lurking a bit.....

:lmao: I didn't think that the word snazzy might just give me away, seeing as how that's what I told him he looked like in his new clothes. Maybe we should think up a new word so he won't know I was on here drawing attention to him. How about SNAPPY? COOL? :lmao:

Tink-

I am actually the CEO of Tommy Bahama, please say thank you to your husband for his recent purchases...

Oh, all right, ... Donita is yelling at me - Just because I own a Tommy Bahama shirt for every day of the month (and then some) does not make me the CEO. For the amount that I have invested in the camp shirts, you would think I would be eligible for some sort of title.

Love the quality of the shirts. :)

Hope all is well -

:lmao: :lmao: If you are the CEO then Kevin has now been promoted to your executive assistant. Yesterday he got 9 shirts (a mix of button downs and a couple of silk polos) 4 pairs of the shorts (which he says are the most comfortable ever) and a pair of silk trouser pants. Also a new belt and some dress sandals (not TB, but I think the brand name must have been ArmAnd Leg, because that's what they cost). I keep reminding him that's its ok because we have 3 cruises booked and he will get plenty of wear out of them. He just replies 'We'll just be going out to a lot of nice dinners from now on'. Men aren't like women. I put on my 'nice' clothes to go to the mall, heck even to go to the Super Walmart! So Mr. CEO, when will we be receiving our bonus check for the recent purchases? I know we made a young mans month at Nordstrom yesterday!

You guys make me laugh. I don't even think I have 9 shirts let alone purchase 9 at a time. Since my wife takes up 99% of the closet space I have very little in the way of clothing.

Welcome Rebecca. Nice to have you onboard! You picked a great way to recoup after your operation.:)

At least we dont have someone like Mike(on Sept.15th cruise) that makes room after the use of your old undies it to toss them out. :rotfl2: Just think how much room you'll have coming home with you. And makes more room for more suvvies.:lmao: :lmao: He's so funny. He really does have some great tips.

Then I must be the Queen of V.S.! They send me get well cards if I dont shop once a month!:rotfl:

This whole clothes shopping conversation is cracking me up! :lmao:

My girlfriend is like one of those hubbies, she hates shopping too! I have to be her personal shopper sometimes. I go to the store and bring clothes home for her! So I'm sure she'd love Nordstroms. We don't have one where we are.
Luckily we don't really need any new cruise clothes. We are very casual for the most part, I'll bring one formal outfit for formal night (a suit) that's it! If I'm on vacation it's gotta be casual all the way!

stina :wave2:

yoho cruisers!

I've been doing a little cruise planning tonight... always enjoyable. :) Planning is half the fun!

Do any of you know the brunch days/times and tea days/times for Palo?

Thanks!

:woohoo: Ya Ya.. CASUAl.... nod.. I wish others :rolleyes1 would let me go with suit / slax etc. :scared1: Nop.. Formal equals a DRESS..
Mary and I are opposite of you (stira) and your girlfriend. Mary and I both like shopping for work clothers. (give me a polo over a dress) Pants, shoes etc. We both do the house shopping etc. When it comes to dresses.. ok.. Mary is a bit better at seeing what looks good. Styles etc. We will see what DRESSES (There Lois) Mary and I will be wearing. :surfweb:
10 more days till signing for excrs.....:cheer2: :cool2:

Hello Stina,
The brunch days are on key west day and both sea days. I don't remember what time they started-I think it was 10:00 and the last seating was around 11:30. They had reservations on the half hour. The high tea is on both sea days from 3:00-4:00. Hope that helps a little bit. I see you are from MA-Where abouts? Me and my partner are from MA too. We have lived in Taunton for the last year, just moved up from Provincetown. The 2 !/2 hour commute to work everyday was killing me.
KATHLEEN

I think I heard that the high tea was sold out for the 2nd day at sea, however. Can anyone verify?

Also, I haven't done either the tea or the brunch. I plan to choose the brunch over the tea...am I making the right choice? We are doing dinner one night, of course!

I hate shopping, actually I like shopping for others but dislike doing so for myself. I can never find anything that fits properly. Sleeves or pants legs are never long enough, many places don't carry women's shoes in size 11 or 12, swimsuits are too short, etc.

Did I mention I have just about no clothing yet for the cruise??:confused3 :scared1: I threw out or gave away just about all of my summer clothing at the end of the season last year and have not replaced it yet. Reason being it was all too big. I have lost more then 60 pounds and hope to lose more before the cruise so I will probably start the quest soon and hope the clothing I buy fits at cruise time. Maybe I should just wait to August but than I might not find anything. Not sure what to do honestly.

The only thing I like to shop for is shoes! I HATE clothes shopping for myself because nothing fits right. I'm pooh sized, tall, have big feet (size 10 anyone?) and have a REALLYhard time finding things that fit me well up top. I don't wear shorts (I prefer capris) and I never wear dresses or skirts above the knee. I'm slightly modest, I guess! I LOVE shopping at Nordstrom because you don't have to pick stuff out for yourself. You just tell them what you kind of like and you hide out in the dressing room and listen to elevator music while they bring you stuff to try on. None of that trying on, then getting dressed again to go get another size, blah blah blah. I love shopping for the kiddos. They are both average sized and very easy to shop for. If I could ever lose this weight maybe I would enjoy shopping again, but until then, bring me a muumuu! :lmao:
I prefer long skirts (flowy) and tunic style shirts, especially to be comfy after I stuff myself for cruise dinners! I don't think formal HAS to mean a dress. I think a pantsuit can look just as dressy if not more than a dress. Nothing looks better than a well fitted suit on women in my opinion. Power suit!

As for Palo, we have only ever been to dinner and brunch, no high tea so can't help you there. Palo brunch is wonderful. The German Stollen with berries and cream is TO DIE FOR! Kevin loves the pizzas, I love everything!

I Love to Shop !!!:cool1:

A few weeks ago we were watching our 2 youngest grand-daughters, 3 and 1.
The older one asks Papa.. "do you have a dollar?" Papa hands her one, thinking that she's pretends to buy lunch with her microphone. Then she asks "Do you have a credit card?" Papa asks "what do you want with my credit card?"
Answer.... "Im going shopping with Grandma!":rotfl2:

Im still in trouble with that one!:rotfl:

I think I should have been a personal shopper.:woohoo:

Joan of Arc: Thanks for the Palo info, helps with my scheduling!

Though I don't understand how the Palo tea could be sold out for the second day when we're not even allowed to make ressies until June 10. I didn't get the tea last time we cruised and I'm determined to get it this time!

To answer your question, we live in Western Mass. (Easthampton, near Northampton & Springfield) though I am originally from Franklin, MA which is closer to where you are in Taunton.

PIT: I couldn't agree with you more about women's suits. I will be wearing a suit and I think that's just fine for formal night! Besides, there is a liberal interpretation of formal night, a scale from tuxedo and ballgown all the way down to prom and sundress type dresses as well as women's suits. So I think whatever each of us feels comfortable in is appropriate! Besides, there are lots of people walking around the ship and attending dinner and shows who are not participating in formal night dress, so really all the formal and "informal" people are mixed in!

I hate wearing shorts too and I will most likely try to avoid it this year since I have gained weight since my last cruise. :sad2: But I like capris and stuff. So that works out because I can just wear that stuff for dinner. Honestly, I don't make too much of an effort for dinner. Capris, knit shirts and sandals is it for me. I'm on vacation, I'm supposed to feel comfortable! I guess I'm spoiled because I'm never really dress up. My office is casual so I wear jeans almost every day. I just ordered some new crocs for the cruise so I am excited about that! I even ordered a little Mickey Mouse jibbitz to go on them! :thumbsup2

stina :wave2:

Ann- That's funny! Going shopping with Grandma!

Stina- I usually wear some form of loose fitting dress or capris with elastic waist.
Since I drive truck, my dress code is Jammie Casual at times! :lmao:
