09/08/07 Early Check in September 8, 2007 Western

On another topic: Tropical Storm Barry Update born on the 1st day of Hurricane season 2007 (you all are loving me right now, I know...)

Fingers crossed that a similar system doesn't annoy us the week of Sept. 8. as it totally mucked up most of the western carribean for a few days. Hopefully will be first and last, at least for this area.. I know DCL has no control over the weather, but rain and high seas aren't my idea of a vacation.....glad the Magic is in Europe right now. But as many have said Barry is/was the perfect storm in a very very good way.

LOTS of much needed rain here over the entire state. Many areas received 4-5". We are all on water restrictions here. Barry came ashore late this morning on Clearwater Beach. Winds picked up this afternoon and we had a bit of street flooding from the high tide/recent full moon combination. An out of town neighbor's boat floated away and almost crashed into another boat...but luckily was captured by another neighbor, who called us while we were at the movies and also raised our boat by 6" so ours wouldn't float. That was the excitement for this afternoon :rotfl2:

Wind, rain and waves have calmed down and tomorrow should be beautiful!

Hey MCourtney, I was just in Tampa last weekend. My dad lives in Clearwater. He didn't mention the hurricane. Guess I should call him!

Glad you had a good spa experience. Maybe I'll work up the confidence someday to participate.

You know we should all do a live chat sometime. I was just on the DIS chat boards chatting but the conversations tend to get off topic. It'd be great to set a time/date for all of us to use one of the 3 rooms to chat live.

It's great to be a guy when it comes to luggae, for me anyways. All i need is a few pair of shorts, some tank tops, sandals, and i think i am bringing my tux. I guess it is kinda good that i am a light packer as my wife intends to bring her entire wardrobe. Speaking of room, can someone please breing a box of diapers that my wife won't have to pack please?

WAY TO GO CAVS!!!!!!!

For all the luggage talk. If you have different sized suit cases stick them inside each other. Slide said suitcases under the bed frame. It they aren't fitting lift the bed frame up and slide them under. I pack in a duffle bag so it pretty much collapses flat when empty. It also tends to be the first thing off the plane when the checked baggage comes back. I'll have to figure out a garment bag for formal stuff though.

I would ship them down ahead of time, that way you don't have to deal with transporting them. Here are the directions on how to do so

Sending packages ahead of time to the ship:

Each package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date,
stateroom number and packing slip that details the content of the
package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient.

Do not send bulk packages of water, they will be outright rejected.

Packages, boxes, gifts, etc:
(Excluding food, beverages (liquor, water, etc.), other chemicals and
luggage)

IDS c/o (Ship Name) / Ground Services
Guest Name / Stateroom #
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Friday for Saturday and Sunday
sailings. Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Wednesday for Thursday
sailings.

Just the way my partner and I do. Ziplock a days worth of hers and my clothes in one jumbo ziplock bag, flat'n all air out, zip it and pack it. Split a weeks worth of clothes in 2 cases (in case of loss). Add to that pack smaller case in larger one for bringing back new things.:thumbsup2

SPA... WDW spa We loved the Floridain. On the Wonder we were getting a massage when the ship sailed.

I am not even thinking of Sept being Hurrican time... I can take the first day of ship motion but OH hurricanss and a ship..

Morning all! We are about 2hrs from home! Yay!
Last night we were in Atlanta to deliver a load and have dinner with friends. The wife was in a horrible accident 6 weeks ago and this was her first time out and about. It was really hard seeing her, but great all at the same time. She is in a wheelchair and will be for some time. She has 5 broken vertebrae, 4 broken ribs, and a crushed pelvis. She says the ribs hurt most of all. Sad. But great to see them.
About the suitcases, ours all fit within each other and we just stuff them under the bed. We only ever have 2 ppl to a room though so that helps.
We are car shopping tomorrow. We have a Chevy pickup 2001. DsAlex turns 17 in July and we are buying him a car. After looking for a while, we have realized that by the time we buy him something dependable we will be spending almost as much as our pickup is worth. So we are thinking we'll just give him the pickup and shop for a newer suv or 4 door truck. We hope to get a used one fairly cheap due to gas prices. We barely ever drive our personal vehicle due to working so much so gas mileage doesn't matter to us. DH wants a 4 door Chevy so we'll see! I just hate car lots. The sales people over your shoulder make me cringe.

What's everyone doing today? Its a BEaUTIFUL day out in the Podunk!

Hi all: It was really hot up here in Ontario yesterday! We were 90 degrees plus high humidity. News said we were warmer than Montego Bay in Jamaica yesterday! :cool1:
Cloudy today and not as warm and hopefully we get some showers.
Great tips on all the luggage.:thumbsup2
I was telling the neighbours about the Dis Boards yesterday at our neighbourhood garage sale and they think I have joined a cult!:rotfl2:
My husband said he was just glad I was concentrating on planning our trip and not giving him major projects to do around our house!:lmao: Little does he realize I can do both!:rotfl2:
Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

PIT... want to have a nice time at a car lot??? Go alone!
They dont usually got after the women. Women ask too many "stupid" qustions. All this according to a friend who works at the largest Ford dealership. They avoid the women.
So when they see me they know I mean business.:lmao:

On the river is GREAT.. about 95 with low humity and the water looks like glass. And the pool is up to 79-80 too.

Kevin was a Hummer salesmen (not the wimpy ones, the real deal) in Idaho. Used car salesmen usually try to snow us as well, but don't succeed. I think they think everyones a sucker.;)

We are HOME! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :cool2: kevin is out back on the deck working a bit, I am doing our 7 loads of laundry. :scared: :scared: :scared: :laundy: :laundy:
But tonight its barbeque shrimp shish kabobs with peppers, onions, and mushrooms. YUMMY!

Beautiful here. But we havent had rain in 2 months, so the yard is dry. Kevin got home today, looked at the yard and said For Gods Sake RAIN!

Rain... rain... What's that?:rotfl: 4" of rain a year is all we get here:scared1:

It rained all day here. Last night big thunder and lightning storm and today just steady rain. I don't mind though, it's nice to have a mellow rainy weekend.

In her old age my cat has become quite a scaredy cat. When we take out the vacuum she freaks out and before I turn it on I always shout "I summon the Kraaken!" She's also afraid of storms so last night when we had the big storm I shouted "I summon Calypso!" I'm sure she is quite amused by all of this! :lmao:

So what did you guys think of the new POTC at World's End? We saw it last weekend. It was very long but we liked it alot, it was much stranger than the first two.

We LOVED part 3. And you know part 4 is in the begining stages. It was announced in a Japan Newspaper. Not that I live in Japan, but I read a ton of stuff. It stated it will be released in summer 2009. So I'm super excited. Did you stay for last 2 minutes after all the credits?

I guess #4 they will be in search of Aqua Vida!

Bill

Hmmm, not to sure. The only hints they gave was about the fountain of youth, they gave a few others, but I don't wanna spoil it for those who have not seen it yet.

Oops sorry! I better shut up too. Once I saw the end of the movie I said to my son that they left an opening for another movie.

Bill

Hahaha, your right. So without spoiling it I will say that Japan paper said something about 4,5,and yes part 6. I think a few characters will be written out of it, don't wanna give anything away though. Did you sit for the final 2 minute scene after the credits?

Yes I believe we did but that was 2 weeks ago and with my son graduating Wednesday and getting house ready to go on the market I don't remember what I did yesterday! lol

Bill

I did not stay until the end of the World's End credits. Was there a surprise revealed?
