So my full extended b-day weekend was fun! Got to see my Aunt up from Atlanta which was great. On last Friday a girlfriend came over and we talked and did some scrapbooking which was fun! and then on Saturday my actual b-day I spent most of the day going thru pictures, printing etc which I never get to do on a Saturday.....;) and then at night we went out to Pizza with several family members which was great FUN!

Then on Sun we had Nana's big 80 bash! It was fun, just about all of the 22
1st & 2nd cousins were there.... (I'm #2 and Margaret is #22)

and then yesterday, my Dad and I wnet to cheer on our #1 TEAM...the Chicago CUBS!!!

Ok so we didn't win (but neither did the Brewers) we still had a good time too, and it did get a bit exciting at the end, almost thought we'd ralley! But both my Dad and I are bummed we didn't get to sing the song "Go Cubs Go"

Here are a few pic's from the day:

Have yet again a crazy week this week so I hope to make some time to get the next WDW installment of this TR up by Thursday or Friday this week.

J-

Oh almost forgot I did get my Disney Photo Movie, it is so great. I'm really pleased w/ how it turned out, unfortunately our old DVD player couldn't handle the high resolution so we had to watch it on our computer, but then on Sunday night we watched it again at my Mom's on her widescreen tv...it was cool. Plus I love the slideshow included set to a loop of SpectroMagic music. I'll try to take and post some pic's later.

Ok this is gonna be quick, trying to stay up to date here and not let this TR slip away from you all and me…..

So it was last 9:00 am in the land of Magic Kingdom and hoards of guests were coming in thru the turnstiles and probably about 50% of the smart ones were making a bee-line (or should I say elephant-line) straight back to DUMBO!!! Well that is where we needed to be too!!!

Did we get out of the Crystal Palace in time?

Did we make it to the ride and in line w/out a 1000 other people?

I don’t recall if I ever went on this ride myself as a child back in the mid-80’s before making it on back in 2005 and that was just pure luck w/ use of by-passing the mainline w/ my SIL (she was in a wheelchair) and it still was along line….so it was important for us to make it.

So we get out of the CP and start bookin’ our way thru the people, I’m up ahead zipping thru the side routes, “keep up everyone”, we have to make it in time….or our whole morning tour plan could BUST! Or at least my nerves….ok isn’t this suppose to be the land of happy thoughts not :scared:

We made it up to those cute gray elephants and to our surprise there really wasn’t a huge line yet….

100_1722.jpg

(see my LGMH tag? I was bummed no one recognized it and say "hi")

100_1723.jpg

100_1724.jpg

quickly deciding who is going on, we get into the line and :yay: only waited one cycle around. I was really hoping Mae would go on w/ us, but she a bit nervous.

They open the gate and here we go...hoping to get the color Dumbos we want...
100_1725.jpg

Michael and Grandma went on an Orange Dumbo while Aldine and I went on yellow.

100_1726.jpg

100_1727.jpg

100_1728.jpg

When we got off the line probably tripled in length!

Then we went over to Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel and took a spin around:

100_1733.jpg

100_1734.jpg

100_1735.jpg

Margaret feeling a little unsure....

100_1738.jpg

happier now!

100_1737.jpg

Mae didn't want to go on a horse, I think she was a bit cranky and tired, because this wasn't the end of her morning "no's"....

100_1739.jpg

here's me for a pic op, but I actually sat w/ Mae during the ride.

Before heading to the next stop, Michael paused to do this:

100_1740.jpg

Then we caught a ride into Neverland, the 2nd Star to the Left….”here we GO!”

Mae wasn't thrilled to go on this either...she was getting me a bit worried, hoping her "no's" would turn around to smiles soon! :)

Up next in the Tour plan which by the way was going most superbly!!!! :yay: was for the girls (mostly Mae) to meet her favorite Mermaid Ariel.

So how would this go, would it be a long wait, did we get in line before 10:00 am?

Was Ariel just as beautiful as she imagined?

GLad you all rode Dumbo!

Dumbo will be our first stop the morning we go to the Magic Kingdom. Thanks for the pictures because for some reason I thought there was a back seat in that elephant!

100_0169.jpg

Here's the bus we took down to the park

That bus is the way to go Wrigley Field. We took the one out of Woodfield (yours looks like the Yorktown one). Only $3 and you dont have to deal with driving in traffic or parking!

Glad you had a good time, even though they lost.

GLad you all rode Dumbo!

YES! I was so glad it worked well, Michael wanted to go on this yr (in 05 he didn't and I think because the line scared him off....) and was so glad he got to ride and got one of his favorite colors too. He enjoyed it! and I had fun too! Plus DH got so many great pics!

Yep only 1 seat on these, the flying carpets have 2 (more like benches) we didn't even think to take Margaret on it, I figured she was too small, make me nervous up in the air...should have just tried for a pic of her in a Dumbo. Do they have an age or height restriction on this one?

But yes 1st stop is the way to do it! Classic!

Yes, we did travel from Yorktown, it was the 1st time I had ever gone that way. It really did work GREAT!!! and yes hugely (is that a word?) bummed they lost! I think they are giving me more gray hairs then I already have! :scared: They had better start winning! And if so....maybe we can do a CUB-Meet at the Cubbie Bear....my brother is a huge Sox fan (someone dropped him;) )but his girlfriend is Cubbie Blue like me and most of my family, he says I have to go on a Pub crawl if they win! (I don't drink...and at the crosstown game at the Cell, I had 1/2 a beer and they lost:eek: ) we'll see.....

Promise another update end of this week! More MK fun to come

Oh good we can all do Magic Carpets together. I'm hoping to get DH to sit in the Dumbo in front of us so he can take pictures.

No height or age restrictions on any of those type of rides.

Here's a picture of my DH in the photo-op Dumbo....that would be a good choice for anyone with little kids that didn't want to ride!

Aw man, why didn't I know about that before.....I probably just never noticed that. And like the good 'ol Cub-Fan saying "Hey there's always next year...."

So next on ‘The Park [MK] Touring Plan' was to split up…. girls to meet Ariel the Little Mermaid and the boys to ride SWSA (which I was a little worried Michael may not really like….)

So I read/heard that Ariel’s Grotto doesn’t open till 10 am and that you really should be in line like 15-30 minutes ahead of time. So that was in the plan to finish off several rides and then be at the Grotto by 9:45 am. And well wouldn’t you know we were right on time with my well-planned schedule (pat myself on the back). We get over to her Grotto, and there is like hardly anyone in line…excellent for us. I didn’t know you couldn’t take the stroller thru at first, so we had to unload and pack up for our wait…that I was expecting it to be 15-20 minute minimum. As I adjusted ourselves and got Margaret out of the stroller I had a nice conversation with the CM working the entrance to the line/Grotto. I can’t remember her name, or where she was from, or really what we talked about. But she was real nice and I applauded her for standing in the sun in the already rising heat….

So we walk thru the water area and toward the back where the line is and it WAS SHORT! And then to my utter surprise SHE was already in place and seeing humans….

We hardly waited 5 minutes at all before we were face to face w/ her. Mae went first, I think she actually a bit nervous, meeting her favorite Princess let alone probably favorite Disney character in real-life! She had her own little mermaid doll we brought from home and her autograph book in hand and

image004.jpg

100_1743.jpg

Met Ariel! She told Ariel “You are my favorite Mermaid!” and Ariel replied “you are my favorite Human!” to precious heart

image008.jpg

image012.jpg

Then Aldine had a turn to meet and talk to Ariel, they chatted about life under the sea, and singing, like they were old friends.

100_1746.jpg

image015.jpg

We tried to get Margaret to come by for a visit but no go and didn’t even want to w/ me, bummer, but we did end our time w/ one group shot of the girls:

image020.jpg

We then took a quick potty-break and refilled our water bottles at the fountain and waited a few minutes for DH and Michael to return. Michael did not like SWSA very much at all, so DH used riding the Carrousel again to keep him from getting upset, he had figured they’d be waiting on us, not the other way around, but it worked out fine.

Then all together we headed back over to IASW (my favorite FL ride of all time) and went on, there was barely a wait for this too, and pretty much boarded immediately. Everyone enjoyed it and Margaret rested in DH’s arms during the ride. I took a gazillion pictures here a few of the best:

100_1780.jpg

We got the stroller back from parking and headed over to the Tea Cups, it was about 10:25 am. DH went off to get FP’s for my Mom, Aldine & I to ride SM.

Alice and the Mad Hatter were out signing autographs, so I took the 3 older kids to meet them. (They had met Alice before in 05 and Dweedle-Dee and Dum, but never the Mad Hatter well actually Aldine did by herself at a tea party kid adventure at the GF in 05)

100_1782.jpg

The MH was cracking them up by calling them names from what shirts they were wearing...mainly Aldine's she had on a Rattatoui shirt that said "Oh La La" so he kept saying that was her name....and of course Mae asked later "why does he have such a big nose?"

100_1784.jpg

DH made it back in time for his own pic w/ Alice, the Mad Hatter was off brewing in the background he wasn’t invited to be in the pic:

100_1785.jpg

When we were done w/ that Margaret had fallen asleep in her stroller. So I sat w/ her by some chairs out side the back entrance of Cosmic Ray's and wrote notes in my book and people watched. DH, Grandma, and the 3 older kids went on the cups then. They rode in a green and blue cup. Here are some pictures:

Here they go.....

100_1797.jpg

a little breeze to cool them off!

We then grabbed some frozen lemonades from the Enchanted Grove and used 2 more snack credits from the DDP.

100_1798.jpg

Next it was off to Tomorrowland: which you guess it will be happening tomorrow for you all…or another day.

Great Ariel pictures!

You're touring plans are working like a charm! It lovely like you all had a lovely morning in Fantasyland.

Great updates - I've been so busy the past couple of weeks with school starting and getting caught up with my work at the campground I work at in the summer I haven't had much DISing time.

It's fun to hear about you guys doing some of the things we haven't. Of course we haven't done any princess stuff with the two boys, but we also haven't done many meet & greets that weren't part of a character meal. Too much waiting in line for us. ;) Somehow we have never done the tea cups at WDW either. :confused3

Can't wait for more!!

Hey all, sorry it has been like a week since I posted or visited the boards....let alone my scrapbook table.

I hope any of you in the path of Ike are safe and beginiing the huge drying out process. And yes the midwest floods you may have heard about hit home big time!

My folks live in the Cicago sub's as well and near a retention pond, well Mother Nature thought my folks should live in their own private island.....

100_0307.jpg

this is looking out their front door...

100_0312.jpg

a view from an upstairs bedroom

100_0318.jpg

the front of their house at the deepest of the water it was knee to thigh deep at the house and further out almost waist deep

100_0330.jpg

looking down the street toward their house

100_0334.jpg

up for a canoe ride?

100_0347.jpg

looking from their backyard across the neighbors the actual pond would be beyond the far fence....

100_0377.jpg

starting to recede, finally almost 3 1/2 days later

100_0375.jpg

there is probably 400 bags around my parents home

100_0381.jpg

theses tracks are from the village front loader bringing in sandbags on Sunday, now we know what holes we kept falling in....

It has been one crazy week and though now the water is down, we still have weeks of clean-up and hauling out garbage etc to go....

As soon as things calm down I'll be back w/ more Disney fun!

Thanks,

J-

So sorry to hear abour your parents home! We have had flooding issues - but NOTHING like that. Just our basement... which used to be a finished basement. I can't imagine what that would be like. I hope they didn't lose too much of value - monetary or sentimental. :grouphug:

Take your time getting back to us - we'll be here. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your parent's house.
We live in Carol Stream and had terrible flooding as well. We were lucky, we were okay. Schools were even closed Monday by us.

Take Care!
