08 was so Great at the Poly...TR-NEW 2/3 Time to say Good-bye (final post) / pics

Ok I last left off everyone was washing off the day’s sweat from our very HOT! day at the Animal Kingdom…

Who said June was HOT!!??

(oh and 1 side-note on my hopeful plan was to try and see the Pocahontas Show (w/ her animal friends), well we just ran out of time and energy and now I read today that the last show is this Sept. Huge Bummer, Ok maybe it wasn’t excellent, but we never got to see it, and both Aldine and Mae like her, plus Michael is a huge animal kid…)

And just some final thoughts for Animal Kingdom:

100_2811.jpg

here is my cool KS postcard...going in the scrapbook!

So despite the morning EMH, we were quite successful with this first day of touring, the big ticket items on our TP were all hit w/ very minimal waits, our lunch was very good and the eating area was very tranquil for a busy park. We got some good shopping in, including DH’s b-day present from my Mom:

100_2812.jpg

100_2813.jpg

It’s a hand painted/wooden dragon kite. He really likes kites, though this one probably won’t actually be flown and is still in need of a permanent home somewhere in the house.

The things we missed out on, mostly due to getting there a little later than hoped and the heat just dragged us down, were no meet & greets w/ Safari Mickey and friends, plus some quality Tree of Life viewing time and the above mentioned show.

But all in all it was a good 1st day in the parks!

and lastly:

It’s off to NEVERLAND kids…..:tinker:

100_2807.jpg

A little happy thought w/ some pixie dust and we’re flying thru Wendy’s bedroom window toward the 2nd star to the left!

wdw_neverland_club.jpg

this is from the web....

Ok so like a big dummy I didn’t take my camera w/ when dropping them off or picking them up. Whoops!

We signed the 3 big-kids in for the night (the CM probably thought we’re off for a nice romantic dinner…well sorta w/ my Mom and Margaret….)

They got to choose their dinner choices from a special menu, I think they all picked chicken nuggets, either chocolate milk or white, plus pudding for dessert and grapes or carrots and applesauce. They are not hard to please. They got their special Peter Pan sticker nametags and in they went.

Then Matt and I went back to our room and went up to our Kona Café dinner ADR w/ Mom and the baby too.

Our ADR was for 6:05 pm and we were finally seated around 6:40 pm. We passed the time looking around at the Sushi Bar and gift shops in the upstairs area of the GCH. It looked like a busy Friday night for both restaurants.

Before we had left AK for the day, my Mom got this for Margaret:

100_2809.jpg

In the next picture she has it on, but I think she kept thinking it would fall off….

100_1614-1.jpg

Here are few more pictures while we waited:

100_1618-1.jpg

100_1616.jpg

100_1619-1.jpg

a pirate's life not for me princess:

Well our pager/lighty thing went off and we were seated in a nice comfy corner table near the railing, which ended up being perfect for Margaret, as she was not to keen in staying put in her highchair, she just walked around right there in the little corner, looking out at the people too.

100_1622-1.jpg

On the way to our table the hostess shows us the dessert bar with this as a centerpiece:

100_1620-2.jpg

We had the most excellent waiter for this meal, his name was Quey (I apologize if I spelled that wrong). Time for the food porn portion of this TR!:

We first ordered and paid op for the Kona Crab Cake Sushi Roll

100_1624-2.jpg

I really enjoyed it, being the 2nd time EVER I have had sushi. Mom said it was good, but didn’t eat the seaweed, Matt was so-so on it, he’s not a sushi kind of man (not to mention it was his idea to order)

For dinner I ordered Macadamia Mahi Mahi, which was so amazingly good! The side salad was just ok…not my preferred taste.

100_1626-1.jpg

Mom had the Beef Teriyaki, and said it was so GOOD and TASTY. The meat was extremely tender.

100_1625-1.jpg

(whoops have to resize this one to bigger)

Matt
ordered the Filet Mignon (msp?) and he cleared his plate, big-time. Oh plus he had a lovely op $12 glass of wine w/ that.

100_1627-1.jpg

He and I also got these op specialty lemonade drinks, had seen them on the POLY thread and just had to get one, so we got a matching set:

100_1623-2.jpg

I don’t have any pictures of Margaret’s food, but let’s say she ate some dry cheerios from the room and our excellent waiter brought her a kid-cup of milk for FREE, and a side order of fruit salad for FREE, plus an extra giant (for her) sized bowl of grapes for FREE yet again!!!

Seriously, cheerios, pretzel goldfish and red grapes was her diet of choice for Disney.

We also ordered some dessert to go:
Me-coconut cream kiki tort

Mom-white chocolate cheesecake

Matt-chocolate lava torte

Oh and just so you know we were on the DDP but if we paid for everything out of pocket including tip, this little meal would have cost us around $165.00 :scared:

(ok now I'm just thinking...I was journalling for most of the time during the in between parts of the meal...you don't think he thought I was some crazy reviewer?)

I’m not sure what time we were actually done eating but it had to be after 8:00 pm. Because while Mom and I waited for the bill, DH took a very tired and cranky Margaret back to the room and got her ready for bed. We got back and then a few minutes later, DH and I headed back over to the NC and picked up the kids.

We got to go in thru Wendy’s window (OK we could have used the door, but this was more fun) to find them. Inside they had a craft/coloring area, dress-up, video game area, games, toys, books, and dolls galore (all Disney of course) plus behind a wall they had movies on. That was were the girls were and Michael was lying down not to far from them reading.

It was reported they were well behaved and Michael had no problems! Yay! There was just under the max 20 kids that night and everyone was just cool….as we left Neverland, each of the kids got a plastic MM straw of their color choice, plus an office NC member card, tattoos and coloring & painting sheets. I thought was very cool!

100_2805.jpg

ok so it's a bunch of free left-over movie promo's but still cool for me and a 9 and 5 yr old:goodvibes

We got back to our room(s) and quietly had everyone change into their pj’s in my Mom’s room and got all to bed it had to be around 9:00 pm by now. Then DH and I re-changed back into the clothes we had on earlier and headed off for OUR nighttime FUN!!!

To be continued soon…..

MouseScrapper (J-)

Neverland club sounds like it was great! I'm so glad that Michael didn't have any problems. I'm sure you were worried. Kona looked great too - I'm with DH - I would have loved that Filet Mignon! Mmmmmm....

Can't wait to hear about your evening out. popcorn::

PS- That kite is gorgeous! How did you get it home?

I've got to hit Kona one of these times!
Glad the kids liked the kids club.

I think when my DS gets older we will be using the kids clubs.....I've heard nothing but good things about them. Thanks for the Kona review.....I saw my steak that I've having in 3 months!

We were a bit worried, especially after the hot day at AK...but he did great and had a good time, the CM's seemed genuinly attentive to us explaining his needs and we brought his sound deafening headphones if needed, but it went well. It's not a "cheap" perk, but really worth some time to yourself....may be on the wish list for the next trip and all 4 kids could go that time!!! (that's if I can get 2 11 yr olds to go:rolleyes1 )

Kona was so deliuous (msp)...another review to comepopcorn::

The kite was actually nicely folded down and well wrapped, I just double wrapped it in a couple of large WDW plastic bags and then padded it w/ our clothing....

The night out hopefully will be up sometime tomorrow!

You really should try Kona if you can, the food, ambience, everything was really nice!

This was our 1st time using the kids clubs, and I was pleasantly suprised w/ how it all turned out...but would I expect anything less from DISNEY;)

You can put the picture of your steak on the countdown....:rotfl:

Hope to be back w/ the last of Day 2) tomorrow and then a special post on Wed Aug 6th....can anyone guess what for?:confused3 :goodvibes

First...no one has guessed yet what my special post for 8-6-08 will be for??????

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The kids are in bed, Mom is resting…oh so quiet and peaceful in our 2 POLY rooms…

But not where DH & I are headed!:cool1:

MAGIC KINGDOM IS OPEN TILL 2:00 AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We walk over to catch the monorail to the MK w/ several other folks and as we are walking we can hear the music from the EWP in the lagoon, and on the monorail we could see it as we passed the GF. We got stopped in a traffic pattern for a few minutes and watched the blinking lights of the EWP a few minutes longer. We arrived at MK and went straight to the wristband line and talked to a lady and her boys heading in as well.

At first she thought we had left our 4 kids alone at the resort…I was like “no-no, my Mom is there too”!

We get in the park and prepared ourselves for the massive SEA of PEOPLE on MS.

100_1628-1.jpg

I have never seen so many people jammed up together, waiting for fireworks, Spectro had just passed, going toward the castle, going back to the entrance…strollers, wheelchairs, tons of FEET! It was jammed! As we continued our tight “swim up Main Street” it finally cleared toward the hub around the castle and we headed toward Fantasyland. First we stopped and took a few pic’s of the castle and the moon….

100_1632-1.jpg

100_1635-1.jpg

(I didn’t journal this night’s adventure, but I do remember most things just maybe not in the exact order it all took place…and if you can believe it, DH couldn't this night's tour was not pre-planned!)

Once in Fantasyland, we went in Mickey’s Philharmagic Show. We saw this show at the end of our Family Magic Tour in 2005, we really enjoyed it, but Michael did not…too intense for him, we knew we wouldn’t be able to swing it w/ him this year either. So it was great to be able to do this tonight.

It was a few minutes before the show and the lobby area was basically empty except for 1 other family at the time.

100_1644-1.jpg

As we waited the fireworks must have begun and it was like right above us

pixiedust: BOOM! BANG! BOOM! BANG! pixiedust:

It was loud!

A few more families came in about this point and 1 was a bit scary in people watching standards…have you ever seen the Shinning? Ok it was like those twin girls fast forward 20 years :scared:

Well we got let in the theatre and Mickey was about to start the show, when he needed to tend to something, then Donald came out to finish setting up the instruments and like Abu in the Cave of Wonders that Mickey Sorcerer Hat was just so tempting….

The show was just as wonderful as I remember it the 1st time, even better that I was not distracted by the kids and how they were doing…and of course I sang along w/ just about every song!

After that we went on SWSA, I hadn’t been on this in a long time….it was actually kinda fun. Here are some pictures:

100_1636-1.jpg

100_1638-1.jpg

do you see the evil queen lurking thru her window?

100_1639-1.jpg

100_1641-1.jpg

OH NO! watch out, the hag is going to push the boulder!

100_1643-1.jpg

and they live happily ever after....

Then we hopped a flight to Neverland w/ Peter Pan and friends:

100_1661.jpg

100_1666-1.jpg

someone needs to rescue Wendy!

100_1667-1.jpg

100_1668-1.jpg

Horray for Peter Pan!

100_1669-1.jpg

Tough luck you 'ol codfish

DH asked if I wanted to ride IASW, but I said we could wait and do it w/ the kids on Saturday. So next we walked back toward Tomorrowland and took a ride along the Speedway.

100_1649-1.jpg

100_1658-1.jpg

We each took our own car for a spin.

We then walked over to SM to check the wait, I was hoping to ride and DH would have done a little arcade time, but it was 30 min standby w/ a FP return almost at 2 am. I decided to skip it. So we headed over to BLASB to see how we’d do against Zurg. This is one FUN ride! Here is our very blurry ride picture (I took a picture of the screen, doesn’t really work):

100_1654-2.jpg

Then we went in and checked out the LF. We had a bit of a wait, but not terrible. But then you go into the 2nd waiting area…ugh! But they had a cute movie reel to pass the time.

Once in the theatre room and Mike started the show it was great, we had a great audience w/ us and everyone was into the show. I really enjoyed it!

Up next we headed back toward Liberty Square and took a tour of the HM, the new additions were great, the “evil bride” section you really need to go thru more than once to see everything.

I then amazingly convinced DH, the non-coaster guy to go on BTMR w/ me…

I should have taken some pictures…but it was an awesome run and in the dark, never had ridden this one at night before…but DH was a bit woozy when he got off, oh he was a good sport, but never again probably!

We then walked over near POC (even though it was closed) and talked w/ some CM's stnading post by the signs:

100_2338.jpg

and then spent some time roaming in the nearly empty gift shop right next store and took turns being Pirates: (I think I'm a better Elizabeth Swan then he is Captian Jack....)

100_1647-1.jpg

100_1648-1.jpg

We then headed back toward the castle and walked thru (in 2005 you couldn’t get thru because of the Cinderellabration (msp?) show, so this was quite the treat) it was so fun to walk thru at night in practically an empty park! Here are some pictures of the amazing murals. And I have to ask, why do only the Step-sisters and Step-mother look like Disney’s movie version? :confused3

Great update! Love all the pictures....especially the Cinderella mural ones.

I'm guessing that your surprise post tomorrow is that you booked your next Disney vacation!

What a great update!! I could feel the magic comming from your post!! Can`t wait for the surprise!

Great update! Great way to spend a date night. DH & I went to the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club for our date night and I don't know why, but I didn't realize we could have walked to Epcot after dinner. We walked to the Boardwalk but somehow never figured it out. I was bummed after the fact when I realized where we had been. And we never did make it to the Epcot WS during that whole trip... I guess no matter how much research you do, there is always something new to learn.

It's either your birthday or the announcement of a new trip. :confused3

Great update! I think I am finally caught up

Thanks for sharing your family with us!

What's the big post?:confused3

Great update! I think I am finally caught up

Thanks for sharing your family with us!

:thanks: for all the warm wishes and I'm glad you are still liking my TR here and the pictures...it's fun, you all are my extended Disney Family :grouphug:

So I guess I built up 08-06-08 quite a bit:rolleyes1

NO, unfortunately I'm not announcing an upcoming trip or hence have booked one.....:sad1:

No, it's not my birthday yet, but later this month :cake:

So what is the big suprise?

Amy (NH) I thought you'd figure it out....it has to do w/ the date today. Look back to my very FIRST post at the begining of the PTR....

08-06-07

It's the 1-year anniversary of the Poly trip report!!!!:dance3:

Can you believe that?

I just happened to notice the date, last week when editing my title line.

So Happy Anniversary all (w/ me) and this little BIG report of mine!

That's awesome! Congratulations! And I guess I never realized, we both started DISing in July 2007.

HI! I'm a little late but I loved reading along. I have a 9 year old son and 4 year old daughter so it is fun seeing a lot of the same things through another's eyes!

We are in the Chicagoland area too...sounds like possibly near you. We do Great America once a year usually with my work picnic...only because it is cheap, closed park, and lunch and parking is included. I just cannot bring myself to travel an hour and spend that much money to mostly stand in lines! It's crazy there!

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Wow, one year!

Crazy huh?

and hey look it's almost your bounceback trip:banana:

That's awesome! Congratulations! And I guess I never realized, we both started DISing in July 2007.

Now the question is how much longer will this thing last?:rotfl:

:welcome: better late than never right? Glad your here! and having fun reading along.

And I agree I dodn't think I'd pay full price plus everything else to go up to GA either...we always have brought a lunch from home way back as kids. Remember the original Bugs Bunny Toen, w/ the upside down house and ball area for kids...I'd loved it in there and how about the Tidal Wave...now that was fun. Ok Batman is pretty cool too.

J-

I was just going to pm this to Heidi for her FYI but then thought I'd just share for anyone else reading who is or will be traveling w/ an under 2 yr old....

at the FotLK show, my little one Margaret (then just over 18 mo) did pretty good for her 2nd show in a row...as you recall she basically slept thru Nemo. Anyways for LK she was ansty before it began, not wanting to sit on the bench and we kinda had her trapped walking back and forth between DH, I and Grandma...plus pulling her back from climbing over. I had her blanket of course w/ and a snack cup and her juice cup too.

Once the show started she was pretty good, she liked looking at everything and I really don't think she was scared at all.

When we got up to go and taking a quick peek to make sure we had everything I realized her cup was missing...a guest behind me said it had rolled under a CM picked it up. Sure enough a CM had it at the exit....

ok so there's that...sorry nothing megga exciting.

Having a special Mother/DD/Grandma Day w/ Aldine tomorrow downtown at the American Girl store and hopefully a family day on Sunday, plus our Olympic Opening Ceremony party tonight w/ chinease food and fortune cookies too, Michael asked if I was going to hang red streamers too....

Well wahtever you do this weekend hope it's good and fun!

Start up Day 3) at MK and Epcot next week....

seeing red

I hugged a pig

Soarin for an hour plus

schedule changes I need a plan B Heidi!?

and more magical fun

MouseScrapper (J-)princess:

Have a great weekend with the family! And I'm looking forward to the next up date.

Ok another little sidetrack before getting back to WDW....

(some tourism for the Windy City, huh?)

So we had a fun weekend, great weather in the big-city. You'd think being not that far, we actually go more often, but it doen't seem to happen, but when we go it does seem to go in spurts.

Sat was Aldine's day at the American Girl Store, we barely made the train going down...it was pulling in the station as Matt was dropping us off....this wouldn't be the only near missing a train incident:eek:

Here she is w/ her Felicity doll (which she got last Christmas) by the Felicity book section:

100_2857.jpg

Now after the AG review (theatre performance) getting the girls' autographs:

100_2861.jpg

After some shopping we went to tea:

dessert too!
100_2871.jpg

Here's Aldine & I by the old Watertower awaiting the trolley back to the train station:
100_2873.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then on Sunday, we decided to take the train back down in the city and go to the LakeFront and Millenium Park. Getting there was not a problem, except it was a bit smooshy in the train till DH realized he could slide the stroller behind our double seat....Michael stressed a bit when we first arrived in the city, but settled down after we got to the park...and ugh Margaret wet thru another diaper....why does that never happen at home:confused3

Here are the twins on what we dubbed the "crazy metal bridge" over Lake Shore Drive pointing out at the skyline:
100_2884.jpg

Matt & I:
100_2885.jpg

Here's the kids & I by the lake (marina or as explained to Mae a boat parking lot), Mae was nervous she'd fall in that's why I'm holding on and Margaret was snoozing:

Matt & the twins looking at Buckingham Fountain:

Here's Margaret:

100_2903.jpg

This is us back at the Millenium park at the water way bridge sitting area....ok I'm sure it has a real name, but that works, right? and it was nice to get all the red-pebble sand off our feet by the fountain:
100_2906.jpg

oh you can see Margaret in the background, she wanted her shoes off like us, but nothing to do w/ that water....

Here we are by the amazing bean:

great face Mae!

Lastly here are the older kids looking out at the River before heading to the train:
