04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

You are in one of the best resturant cities in the world in San Francisco and right at Fisherman's Warf also not to far from North Beach which has great Italian resturants. We are likely to eat off the ship and aren't even going any where in the evening since this is home for us.
Good ideas on resturants go to sfgate.com which is the SF Chronicle website there is a resturant section there that is great giving wonderful descriptions including price ranges. Sue

Hi Everyone

Now that the Dream cruise is done, I can focus on these two cruises. I know that a few you posted updates, but there is a good chance I missed them. Please let me know if you see someone of the list that has cancelled.

This is the list for free custom lanyards and name badges for everyone
in your cruise group. Please take a close look at your listing and PM
me if I've made a spelling error, left someone off, wrong cruise, or if you are no longer
going on one of these cruises. Please PM me if you would rather have a different
version of your name on the badge (nickname, etc.).

PLEASE REVIEW YOUR LISTING AND PM ME IF IT IS CORRECT!
A * before your listing means your have verified the names and you are good to go - you do not have to respond.

It's very important that I hear from people on the "not confirmed" list.
I don't want to leave anyone out and I want to make sure that the names are correct!
So if you are on the "not confirmed" part of the list, please let me know if the listing is correct.

Thanks for your help with the list!

An accurate list is very important because I need to know how many lanyards to order!

Aw crap- i can't order tickets now for 5:55 or 6:45... even if I just put us 5 in (not including our friend and her son) it says exceeded maximum allowed. :(

Alright I booked 6:45pm..... I figure this will allow us to leave the ship later, eat lunch on ship, go to WDFM for hours, then right before alcatraz either eat somewhere or at least grab a snack somewhere- then do alcatraz. If we did the earlier time we'd be crunching our WDFM time and also eating too close together in time LOL

So did you book on line though a web site?
We are also on the 6:45 night Alcatraz. We have beenatraz before, but not @ night....looking forward to it! :cool1:

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

I asked a DCL veteran and she said you can come/go anytime you want. I asked also because I wondered if you had to be back at a certain and/or couldn't leave in the morning until a certain time. She said while it's at the port of call you can come/go on the ship.
I would imagine that would be the case... I mean surely she's right. They wouldn't be locking families off the ship. LOL right right? I hope not. LOL I'll plop down right there and cry till they let me in. LOL

:rotfl2: Thanks!

On my previous cruise there was no need to rush the online check in, and a lot of people didn't even bother with any of the online check in, just doing everything on paper at the port. But Disney has made a change I just learned about.

One of the later steps in the online check in is to set an appointment for when you show up at the port. So far I haven't seen anything about what happens if you are early or late, but to be on the safe side if you want to get there early to try to get a Palo or spa reservation onboard, don't postpone the online check in.

One thing I am a bit confused over - prior cruisers have said the LA port opens at 10, but the earliest reservation is 10:30. I will still try to get there as early as I can.

Yeah I just read that too and I'm having issues with DCL letting me put the other reservation in so I can go thru the process again with the rest of my family in the other room!

I had also checked in the other day and printed out the signature forms and everything. If I hadn't read here- I'd have never known about the change- and then what then? I don't know.
On the website it was showing me as completely checked in. Even when I clicked online check in anyway- it showed completed. But then I clicked "view/edit" and a whole new world of DCL.com showed up for me. :rotfl: And it was saying EVERYTHING was incomplete! It was making me add in more info (and just as a note- it wouldn't work with me clicking post-cruise as "cruise" even though it popped the box underneath saying Disney wonder- wouldn't work till I changed it to "other" or something like that)
It also FORCED me to put in that we are taking private transfers (or some other choice of transportation after this cruise) even though we're doing b2b. so they've got some work to do on this

Then once I redid all the steps- THEN it unlocked asking me to put the time I'd be at port and it says "this is the time you must arrive at the port".
I'm thinking oh really? Well if I'm early they can keep me out- but if I'm set for 10:30-11 and I'm late- what then? Gonna refuse me boarding or make me sit outside till 3pm or something? I don't understand this new concept.. I can understand wanting an IDEA of when people are going to arrive- but to say this is when you MUST arrive at port? Hmmmm

anyway i still can't do the other room and I have news for them- we are all going in the port at the same time. LOL I think the site is messing up again.... (may 3rd booked excursions tonight and it was messing up for the past 2hrs) because now it just keeps logging me out of reservation no matter what I click- cruise plans, saved list, anything.

Thanks for the info. I don't know what to ask for - we have people giving us a ride, so I don't really know what they will want. I think I'll put down 11 and see what happens.

Sorry this has been so frustrating. Probably just the excitement of the first Alaska cruise - the site gets bogged down. I would think they need to have a bigger server with adding 2 new ships...:rolleyes1

I checked in with no problems, but I'm not trying to link rooms or get ressies or anything. I think I may go to the spa and see what's available if I feel like it then. Hope things go well for everyone! I asked for 11:30-12, so I left some early slots open for you guys:goodvibes

^^ I was able to finally get in and do the other room's online check in and get 10:30 port time also.
But our limo is gonna have us arrive earlier than that. I think choosing a port time and it saying this is the time you "must" arrive at port is ridiculous. People don't know exactly when they'll get there! geesh LOL

We booked 5:55 as well! :yay:

We are going to eat in the city after the Alcatraz tour.

Yeah! :yay:

I got a confirmation page, with all the information and I also got an email. It gave me a web address to go to so I can print my tickets.
thanks
I got the confirmation page and email and printed tickets- the 2nd time I did it. But the first time it took me to some other page on their website and didn't send the email -yet emptied out my cart like it had gone thru. I'll check in a day or two and make sure I didn't get charged twice. LOL

Where did you book? I know it wasn't thru DCL- was it? Thru them I didn't see the night tours available.
I booked thru alcatrazcruises.com :confused3 Plus it was a WHOLE lot cheaper to book on our own. Heck it was cheaper for 7 ppl booking on my own than it was for 5 ppl with DCL- way cheaper.

Re: the Vancouver excursions.....they are NOT showing up under the "my cruise plans" section when you're in your reservation....but if you do a general search for port adventures by city, you can select Vancouver. they have the suspended bridge tours, a hop on hop off bus, and some other random things. I am not sure exactly how you're supposed to book them since they don't show up on your reservation, but I do have them on our "saved wish list"
Is this Eric & Jason from the TA in 2007???

No, our group is taking the train after the cruise to Seattle and then flying home from there.
I plan on doing that the next day - is anyone else headed to Seattle on day after the cruise arrives in Vancouver?

Current Repo Roster by Room for FE exchange.
Can you please add me?

Ken - I don't think Gary will be on these cruises...check with them to be sure!

yeah we booked on line, wasn't sure if they were gonna have it @ night as a excursion. they do book very fast on line, and if you try for a walk up....SOLD OUT, plus it is very close to the port. we have been there before, fun, erie, historical, but never @ night. because we a silver CCC members, finally got to book the rest of our excursions...could get one of what we wanted, but happy with the rest.

Thanks for the heads up on the port arrival information. I stopped at the payment information figuring I would do it later, but now I seen that you don't get the other screen until you complete that.

Regarding the port times, perhaps they are letting you in at 10 but not starting to check people in until 10:30?

I plan on doing that the next day - is anyone else headed to Seattle on day after the cruise arrives in Vancouver?

Yes - we are taking the 5:45 Amtrak train to Seattle and we have a 7 AM flight home on Wed.

We also booked the a night tour (5:55) directly with http://www.alcatrazcruises.com/

We are also planning to do the Disney Family Museum on our own. I have a friend who lives locally that is going to be our transportation that day. The Disney excursion price was crazy - $129! The museum ticket is only $20 so the other $109 is to drive around in a bus and take pictures.

What is this??? The DCL site is down at the moment.

I went through the check-in procedure. We are staying at a Disney Cruise arranged hotel the night before, so it did not offer us a check-in time. (Yes, I realize this hotel option is probably more costly, but it saved me a lot of hassle.)

Thanks! We're staying at the port so guess we're on our own.

Okay, off the MV of the Dream........so sad.....

Now, I can start thinking about April 27-May 10th.

Guess I better go do my online check in since we make a habit of being to the port before daylight, or so it seems!

Hliiaryone
You don't have to worry about that option because you will check in at the hotel there will be a DCL desk there. On our Med and Baltic cruises this worked great. The bus picked us up and we got off at the port and immediately boarded the ship. Unfortunately for us this time we are flying in the day we leave so we will not be able to this. Sue
