03/29/08, March 29, 2008 Eastern Magic - Who else?

while making the cruise list.

Goofydadeo (John),
You want to change your Palo time. Laurencam has a reservation for two that she will probably need to drop to pick up mine.

Tinker and Pooh (Deidra)
You are four rooms away from us.

Thanks for keeping us in mind - I am sure we'll find a way to switch or we'll just go to Palo in our Pirate attire!!! ARGH!!! pirate:

John,
I thinkyou should go to Palo in your Pirate attire. What could be more formal than that on Pirate Night ;)

Michelle-

We would love one of the laminated group signs. Thanks!! :cool1:

We actually went to Palo on our last Disney Cruise on pirate night. It wasn't done intentionally. Usually on the Western, Pirate night is Wed. However, on our last cruise they switched and moved Pirate night to tues. We did not wear pirate clothes to Palo, but everyone in Palo that night was pretty casual. It worked out fine and we made it to the deck party w/ no problem!! :thumbsup2

Not very nice of the Travel Channel running all of these shows about tropical islands, cruises, Florida Beaches, etc....

but I guess I should not complain, as we only live 21 miles from Pensacola Beach....would be nice out there today, if it was not 54 degrees, with a strong north wind blowing.

:cool1: We're doing the doc dance also, got them today! :cool1:

* Hello and welcome to our latest Spring Break Cruising Dis'ers!:woohoo:

* Michelle, I would like one of the group signs laminated also. Thanks for getting everything together. :worship:

* Just think gang we have 3 weeks to go before we will be cruising the Magic! I think I am more excited than my DD.

I am with you Deb. I did not think it was humor at anyone's expense. Steve will just have to save his material up for the next three weeks and share with us.

Thanks...if anyone was offended, I'm sorry, as that was not my intent. I was not making fun of any region, group, nationality, sex, religion, dog breed, political persuasion, nascar driver, clay aiken fans (does this cover all the bases?), but just making fun of the redneck in ALL of us, as well as over-exaggerating some of the posts seen on the Cruise Board.

I live (and was born) in an area sometimes referred to as the Redneck Riviera....I don't find that offensive, because I know what is meant.....and the description is fairly accurate I'm afraid to admit.

Again, I'm truly sorry if anyone took offense.:grouphug:

I say if you do not like the what is on TV turn it off, if you do not like what is in a post do not read it.

I think CMT should have to take off the Jeff Foxworthy show and My Big Redneck Wedding off the air because it stereotypes people and makes fun of them to get ratings. Steve maybe you should change careers and write some TV shows.

Anyone it is way cold for my tastes today and I am off to the Wide World of Sports.

I don't know if any of you saw the thread about the 3/1/08-3/8/08 Magic that missed docking at CC. It's on the DCL main page. I don't know how to send a link. Sorry!! However, from what was said, it appears that one of the engines was not working, the Magic got to St. Martin very late and missed CC. Also, it said that they were not able to use the stabilizers and there were a lot of sea sick passengers.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that the engine is repaired very, very soon!! :thumbsup2

That brings up a good question, has anyone had issues on their previous cruises with any of their kids getting sea sick? My husband and I have been on 2 different cruises and only had a problem with one of them - I guess it was the worst weather they had had in years. I could call my pediatrician, but thought I would post it and see if anyone had any experiences to share?
thanks
Dana

For Lisa here is the link you wanted to send to people.

It is true that a few weeks ago they began having trouble with a second engine. It caused the ship a delay in getting to CC (I belive....it may have been PC...I honestly do not remember.) The first engine trouble came several months ago. My husband and I were talking about the information in that post and how much of it is the true in regards to technical difficulty causing all those delays. (Not that I am calling anyone a liar....just have you ever plaid the game telephoneAnd of course the long term problems if the engines continue to have difficulty.

Our daughter has never gotten seasick, but on our first trip the doctor recommended benadryl in case she did....not sure how that would help with seasickness. He gave me a recommneded amount for her age (15months) at the time. But I am not sure what that was anymore. Smaller kids tend not to get seasick as easy as adults.

benydryl has an anti-nausea component to it.

Mason has been forced to take children's dramamine, although when the stabilyzers work, he has often skipped it altogether.

Hi Guys- I am again posting on your thread just because laurencam just PMed me and I feel you guys should know. I just got off the 3/1 - 3/8 Magic. It was not a form of telephone. The Capt. actually came across the PA sysytem and told us. We arrived into St. Marteen at 1:45 and he said it was because one of the engines was faulty and we had to reduce the speed to even make it. The medical staff brought up about the stabilizers saying the motion sickness was due to this. I heard about the stabilizer problem as we could not understand why after 4 other cruises we actually had problems this time with a more midship room. The stabilizers then make sense. Now how long have they known about the problem, then that I can not answer. Just to let you know, if you are sea sick, they have motion tabs outside the door of the medical clinic free for the taking. I did not know it until I went down there this time. I do HOPE they fix it before you guys. Our trip still was MAGICAL, but it sucked to get within about 200 feet of Castaway on such a beautiful day and not be able to get off the ship. So out of our entire cruise, we spent less than 12 hours on land and the other 150 hours on the ship in motion. It was still magical, still a good time, but the kids did get more stir crazy than the past as the crew had to start repeating activities because they ran out of things to do. laurencam, I did bring you navigators from EACH day. They are the original ones. As each day started to have problems, they would send out revisions which I did not bring. We killed a lot of trees on this trip. We still had a great time, still rebooked, but by far it was second to last on our list of past DCL cruises. The bottom being the 1st WONDER for 3 nights which was just not LONG enough. If ANY of you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them for you. We did get a chance to be the PREMIER audience for "College Road Trip" the movie. So save seeing Enchanted, College Road Trip and the Treasure's CHest one for the ship. Hope you all have a great time and we will send PIXIE Dust your way..... I am sure they will fix it by your cruise.:hippie:

Thanks for the update. I sure hope they get it fixed before our trip. I would hate to get in late to St. Maarten and miss Castaway Cay. But most of all, my hubby gets motion sickness. He never does on ship, but without the stablizers he probably would. Let us know if you hear anything else. Of course, we all watch the disboards all the time, so hopefully we will hear something there.

Michelle,
We would love one of your signs too. IT is a great looking one!! Our stateroom number is 2103. Thanks!! Teri

I would think solving an engine problem on a cruise ship would be priority 1.
I'm sure that the parts needed could be delivered to any port. and the needed work performed while underway.

You can bet that DCL wants the problem fixed as much as the passengers do...unhappy passengers make for bad publicity, which means $$$ lost.

That said, there are no guarantees when cruising...can't control the weather, the waves, etc....just have to roll with the flow and make the best of the hand dealt you.

Here's to smooth sailing for everyone.:sail:
