03/29/08, March 29, 2008 Eastern Magic - Who else?

Does anyone know the schedule of events for dinning... Formal night, Pirates night etc....We don't have Palo reservations and I am desperately trying to make some for a party of 3 and really don't want our new cruise to miss any of the excitement.

To Dinghydeb: Where did you see that the ship was docking at Crown Bay on our cruise?

To all: Yes nothing is final as far as where the ship docks. Last year we had a last minute change and ended up tendering. Has anyone here been on the Magic and docked at Crown Bay before? Is it still in town? Regardless, we'll take it because tendering is the absolute pitts.....

Also, to Icemanpad and anyone else with an opinion....

We have made the following ressies for our family of 5 for 1 night and need to narrow it down:

Residence Inn: 1 bdrm suite. About $175
Country Inn Kids Suite: About $145
Raddison: sold out.....

Any opinions to help downselect? As we see it, pros of Residence Inn are hot breakfast, more space, kitchen (which we won't need). Pros of Country Inn are kids suite that will nicely put our kids in one room - they would have more fun with their own little bunk area. I'm sure that the room is much more confined and smaller than Res Inn though.

Any other thoughts to help decide? Does one have a nicer gym than the other? Pool?

Thanks in advance...

Actually, we are not going to be home at that time, could we do it more like 9pm eastern time (8pm central time)??? Otherwise I should be home anytime between 5-9pm your time.... thanks:)

Okay lets say 7pm my time and 6 pm Central time? Let me know if that works?

The Residence Inn...We really did not like the Country Inn and we have stayed at both. This year we are at the Radisson.

If I am inaccurate will someone please correct me. I am doing it from memory.

Sunday-Formal Night and Disney Dreams
Monday-Twice Charmed
Tuesday-Pirate Night
Wednesday-Wake up early for customs, Master Chef Menu
Thursday-Semi-Formal aka Lobster Night and Disney Dreams

As for Palo hopefully Laurencam will get mine, but keep checking as you never know who may be giving theirs up. Also do not kill yourself trying to do it all as you will not enjoy yourself if you are running crazy.

I will send the FE directions when I get on my home computer.

If I remember correctly Crown Bay would be the other side of the U if Haversight was one side. The shopping area is closer to Haversight, but I think you could still walk it. Just a longer walk. That shopping area is connected to the Haversight dock and it down the ways from Crown Bay....I believe we docked at Crown Bay it has just been a long time so my memory is fuzzy.

I tried to Google Earh it, but I cannot from where I am at right now.....silly filters. In theory you should be able to google Earth and get teh satellite picture of both docks and the map....I was able to google map it, but that is not as cool as google earth

while making the cruise list.

Goofydadeo (John),
You want to change your Palo time. Laurencam has a reservation for two that she will probably need to drop to pick up mine.

Tinker and Pooh (Deidra)
You are four rooms away from us.

Here is the information on the size of the Fish Extender I made.

The front and back fabric were cut 25in long and 8in wide

My pockets were 12in wide and 5.5 intall.

I made a 2in binding and put it on the top of each pocket using a decorative stitch.

I used a muslin for the back and cotton for the front and pockets. I am posting a link to my FE as well as some others below.

Here are some directions that were posted on DISboards
FISH EXTENDER INSTRUCTIONS

MATERIALS NEEDED:

This is what I am using, yours do not have to look like mine. In fact some of the most unique on our last cruise where made entirely different than mine.

1/3 yard White Duck cloth
1/3 yard Red Duck cloth
1/3 yard Black Duck cloth
1/3 yard Disney material (ours is Mickey on blue checks found at Wal-Mart)
17” of cord
5/8” x 10” dowel rod with holes drilled in each side big enough for cord to go through.
2 packages of canary yellow Wide Double Fold bias tape
Spool of Memosa (I think this is how it is spelled, it is the closest yellow to the bias tape) yellow thread.

DIRECTIONS:

Pieces can be cut any way they best fit on material except diagonally. We do not use patterns. Just measure and cut.

Cut:

1 29” long x 8” wide back piece (ours is white for this one)
1 29” long x 8” wide front back piece (Disney material) (It is easier to cut these two out together so they will be even)
5 pockets 12” wide by 5” long (ours will be rotated, haven’t decided if more black or more red, yet)

How to put together:

1. Trim tops and bottoms (long ends) of 4 pockets with bias tape. Just trim top of 5th pocket.
2 If you did not cut them together put 29” backs together but do not sew.
3. Starting at the bottom of the Disney material place a pin 4 1/2” from the bottom on both
sides and repeat 3 more times.
4. Place bottom of 1st pocket at the top pins and pin top and bottom in place on sides. Material of
pockets will be wider than back.
5. Working with the bottom of the pocket, fold a crease on each side so that it lays flat and then
sew it to the backs.
6. Repeat 3 more times, placing bottom of pocket at the next pins down.
7. The last pocket will be the pocket without the bias tape on the bottom. Pin this pocket in
place on top and bottom, making the creases so that the pocket lies flat.
8. Baste about 3/4” in around the extender.
9. Take bias tape and pin to sides of extender starting at one side and working your way around,
folding the corners at the bottom to the inside. Make sure that material is inside bias fold.
I have found that because of the thickness the small black spring paper clips work better than
actual pins.
10. Sew bias tape to extender putting stitches about 1/4” from inside edge. Remove basting thread.
11. Turn top edge of extender over approximately 1/4” and then again approximately 1 1/2”.
12. Sew to extender back creating a pocket for the dowel rod.
13. Press extender and put dowel rod through pocket.
14. Put cord through holes and tie ends into knots.
15. Enjoy your “Fish” Extender.

And then the picture of mine should show up here

If you want to see the personal navigators with all the shows, etc. and the menus, go to www.castawayclub(dot)com. I can not put the real dot. in the address or it will be blocked out by the website. It is Barb and Tony's site. It has up to date menus and navigators from not too long ago. It has lots of info and pictures about DCL. It is a great website. As far as my memory goes-
Sat.- Welcome Aboard Show- your first dining rotation
Sund- formal and Golden Mickeys- 2nd dining rotation
Mon-Twice Charmed- 3rd dining rotation
Tues- St. Maarten- Pirate night and show
Wed- St. Thomas- comedy person for the show- Master Chef menu
Thurs- semi-formal- Disney Dreams- Capt. Gala menu with lobster
Fri- Castaway Cay day- Farewell Show-Till We Meet Again menu

We docked at Crown Bay once in St. Thomas. We went on a Disney Excursion and met our group leader who took us to a taxi (open-air) to go snorkling. What I remember is that they were doing a lot of construction, so that it would have shopping at the dock like Havensight. There were not any shops open then, but that was 4 years ago so I don't remember much more. The other times (3 of them) we docked at Havensight. On the www.vinow.com sight, the Magic is docking at Havensight for this month of March. They do not have April's schedule up until April 1st. On the cruisecal website, they have us docking at Crown Bay. We have never tendered at St. Thomas on spring break before- that would be 3 times for us.

I have to share this sign I made because I like it. Also, if people want the sign I made for the group and need me to copy and laminate I need you to just post that here. I started laminating today. I donot want to be doing it a day or two before we leave. I plan on laminating my next batch middle of next week.

I finished all the signs for our cabin and I have three more doors to do. We will have 17 signs that will eventualy make it up and more if I have time as I have a few more ideas for our door. Here is my one for Disney Dreams.
