Spaceship Earth - Rome burning has no smell?

We thought it being gone was a permanent thing so its good to hear that its been off before then back on. We hadn't remembered it not being there in any of our trips through the years before this May.

Spaceship Earth - Rome burning has no smell?

We were at WDW 5/12 - 5/15 for a short trip and rode SE each of those days I think. We noticed that the Rome burning scene no longer has the 'smell' its always had. Anyone been on it since then? We were wondering if it was removed for some reason? :confused3

Why don't parents watch their kids??

Yes unfortunately WDW is a prime location to spot oblivious people. I would hope that its just more prominent when they are on their vacation but I have a feeling some of them live their entire lives with the 'oblivious' condition. Another condition often seen there is rudeness.....buts...

Do you take your DSLR on rides?

I'm a little surprised that WDW is so lax with taking items on rides. I'm glad as Ive taken several on ride pictures there but I'm used to the local parks by us in NJ that are very strict about bringing anything on a ride. I think it depends if the person is responsible to hold on to...

Would you ever spend a day in a Disney park without a camera?

Always have a camera with us, possibly sometimes a p&s. A couple trips back on one of our trips to MK my wife suggested we leave the cam in the room. I almost did but brought it. Turns out we had an evacuation on HM that night! Was so glad we had it for some 'lights on' pics walking out. Since...

    The Long Lense League

Anyone on these boards happen to own one of the Nikon monsters, 400 2.8, 500 4, or 600 4? If so have you dared take it to WDW?

    Nikon D7000

Be sure to check out the D3100 which was just released. It's looking veeeeery interesting. So long as you don't need a focus motor that is.

To those who have toured WDW with the monster Nikons (24-70, 14-24, etc.)

Ha ha, actually this is 'Hoan' but when we go we both do our share of taking pics. She has gotten bit by the photography bug about as much as I have.

To those who have toured WDW with the monster Nikons (24-70, 14-24, etc.)

Did you find it cumbersome? We are going again in October and I would love to bring my newly acquired 24-70 2.8 but am concerned about hauling it around all day with it's weight/size. This would be on a D700. Previous trips I have just brought my 28-200G which is a 12oz lens vs 31oz. I...

Drive to parks or take the bus?

For our first trip or two years ago we used the buses staying on-site. Since trying the rental car and driving ourselves option, we haven't used the bus since. Just seems like you have a freedom that you don't get using the bus transportation.

    Nikon owners

I used to have a D300 (not the 's' version) and now have a D700. The higher sensitivity of the D700 is very useful I've found. There is also something special about the pictures taken with the D700 that's hard to put my finger on. It's a great camera and one I can't see getting rid of anytime...

What kind of Lens is good

The 18-55 is a good lens and has the benefit of being relatively small and light. If you want something with more range either the 18-105 or if you are willing to spend more, the 16-85 or 18-200 are good options. I had used all of these when I used to have a DX crop camera. Best for me was...

    image post processing

Thanks for the replies and examples! Has anyone had experience with using either Artizen HDR or Photomatix as a standalone option for creating HDR? Can JPG's be used successfully to create HDR with these programs? It appears that way from browsing their sites. Thanks

    image post processing

Could some of you post an example of your HDR shot with one of the single 'normal' exposure shots used to create it? Looking to get an idea of the difference HDR makes vs. one normal exposure. For example, several (most?) of the posts in the wide angle thread seem to be HDR. I like the look...

    Haunted Mansion evacuation

We had to evacuate the HM on our trip a couple weeks ago. It was only the second time we have had to evacuate a ride at WDW, the other was Spaceship Earth 2 years ago. We were in the graveyard right next to the signing statues. Fortunately we had our 'good' camera with us and got some pics...

Longest time you have waited for a ride/attraction?

We normally wont wait for long lines but we waited 3 1/2 - 4 hours for a ride on Kingda Ka back in it's opening year in 2005 at Six Flags NJ.

Movie In Norway, what are your thoughts?

We almost always watch it. We are guilty of sitting through it twice without getting up sometimes too! :rotfl: I started a poll about this same subject a few months ago and got the whole gamut of responses from 'LOVE IT' to 'HATE IT' too just like this thread.

Carousel of Progress - Are they wearing rings?

We thought the "Mr." did have one, but couldn't see the "Mrs.". Her left hand is very visible in the last scene. I guess next time we will have to sit down in front to the right. Sorry, I didn't mean the post to set off a firestorm of controversy.

Carousel of Progress - Are they wearing rings?

Well my DW and I will be married 11 years next month and we still wear them. Imagine that! :scared1:

    TTA - No more re-rides?

We were just there the past six days and during a period when there was no line for TTA we decided to ask if we could stay on and re-ride. We had done this in the past with no problem. The CM informed us that as of two weeks ago there is a no re-ride policy for TTA. :confused3 Anyone else...
