Add a Little Fun when at the Parks

That's really cool...one of the favorite Disney memories for the Mr. and I is when we saw an elderly couple onsite using matching scooters. The Mr. turned to me and said "that'll be us someday" and I said, "lucky for you we'll already own the accessible minivan and home!" How are your boys doing?

    Service dog?

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: As a lifelong physically disabled person, I wholeheartedly support you recognizing your son's need for independence! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Updated with link about trip. Just want to share something I have not told anyone..

Instead of looking at yourself as limited by needing a mobility device, try to look at it as a positive for all that you will be able to do that you wouldn't have been able to without the chair. I don't know what it's like to become disabled, but I do know what it's like to be disabled from...

Just Wanted To Share Some Good News!

Talk to your doctor again. There might be a way that he or she would feel comfortable writing the orders where the insurance company will approve it.

Just Wanted To Share Some Good News!

That is *incredible* coverage to get your scooter! Most policies only pay up to 80% for in-network. However, before you call The Scooter Store, please get the list of preferred providers for your insurance company. They will tell you who you need to deal with. Once you choose one of your...

What do I need to plan for a trip?

heh, I'm with you.....I make the ADR's, we look to see if there are any 'must do' attractions, and other than that? Wing it :) Since we don't have kids, there's not the pressure to do and see everything. We hit the big spots we like and go from there.

    Alcohol in Magic Kingdom

I just figure that you do what you've gotta do. Going with DH next week and we certainly enjoy our adult beverages at dinner and in the evening when on vacation. If someone else wants/needs them at other times, so be it (particularly if it makes the OPs dad more pleasant to be around, which...

    Build your own light sabre

ok, so just to clarify - you can do this at either DTD or at the Star Tours attraction? The DH and I are going....were around age 7 when the first Star Wars movie came out so I think this would be a blast to do! For those of you who have done it, my one question is, are the sound effects...

    ???WDW May attendance question

We're going the 18th-24th....looks like 8s and 9s all the way through. It's ok, we'll manage...we're not the types that have to try to do it all ;) I'm guessing that the closer it gets to Memorial Day weekend, the more nuts it will be. Didn't even realize we were crossing into that weekend...

    Fingerprints used for park entry?

I had to laugh because I don't have fingerprints either (seriously). I always carry my ID so I doubt it will be an issue....if it is an issue for some reason, there will be a hell of a news story out there the next day!

How old is your oldest kid that you put in a stroller?

The strollers I've seen are pretty large and seem to be accommodating. If a parent feels that their kid might need a stroller, there are plenty of places where they can be rented if they don't want to travel with one. Either that, or go to the park at the kid's pace, not the parent's.

How old is your oldest kid that you put in a stroller?

You're kidding, right? Please tell me you're kidding.... I'm a power wheelchair user (all day, every day of my life). I've seen parents stick their kids in wheelchairs (yes, 2 at at time if not more) and it's deplorable. You see the kids hanging over the edges of them, jumping in and out of...

What to bring back for the office gang?

There are only 2 other people in my office, so I'm thinking the Mickey rice krispie treats (the regular sized ones) and maybe the pens or something office useful without going overboard. I know this is amazing, but neither DH nor I are complete Disney nuts (but yet he picked WDW for his grad...

    Yachtsman Steakhouse or Shula's?

Nice to read these! We've beed to Yachtsman before, and it was quite good, but we booked at Shula's this time to try it out. One of the things I miss the most from when we lived in Colorado is the awesome steak (it's *impossible* to get a great steak around here when you've been 'educated' on...

    I'm Torn........any opinions

Yeah, what Mike said. We are a couple without children as well. We are both only children, so we were taken along to 'adult' dining experiences a lot as kids, so we expect kids to behave appropriately at restaurants. "They're only children" only works as an excuse when a kid has a complete...

My husband's journey with brain cancer...update

Lisa, I just found this thread and wanted to send you vibes of strength and peace. If you do choose to look into Hospice, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised at how many of the medical professionals who work in that speciality are so kind and dedicated. I am very happy for you both that...

    Bride With Pets: Advice needed!

Get a petsitter for your home (someone mentioned petsit.com as a good place to start, which it is). We have 2 housecats which I would NEVER bring to a kennel/vet for boarding - pets are much more comfortable in their own environment even if they aren't getting as much 'human time' as they are...

    Silly Beach Club questions

Thanks for the suggestions... I need to use the power chair to get around, but I can transfer by myself into the beach chairs. The reason I'm asking about the beach area is because I know the pools get very busy and I'm looking for a more quiet experience for sitting outside (no kids). Plus...

Gift Card Use at Food Stands

Here's a question that I haven't been able to find a concrete answer about: The DH and I have 2 gift cards purchased from the Disney Store and we'd like to use them at the food stands around the parks for food and drink - specifically, anywhere that we might want to pick up a beverage and at...

    Is Million Dreams still ongoing?

I wonder if they will have little surprises for WWYC? I made note on the rezzies with my TA and a note to IPO (we're staying at BC Club Level) that we're there for the Mr finishing grad school. If he gets a bit of perks, great, if not, that's OK too. Honestly, the birthday promo isn't all...
