Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

I read the post right above mine and started laughing. Okay, now I need to go start from the beginning. I took my five month old on our last trip. He was also the least annoying person on the trip. My oldest was four months when he went to Disney the first time and did well too. I think babies are easier on trips. If you want to take a six month old, I'd say do it.

I am through Day zero and one so far. Your arrival day seemed somewhat relaxing. It is probably a good thing you had a long break from the wedding to the honeymoon. We left right after our wedding for WDW on the red eye. Since we did not sleep much the night before the wedding either, we were so exhausted by the time we arrived. Despite our 7am arrival, we did nothing on the first day but sleep. We only had 5 nights too, rather than 14. Great start.

We did not even make it to the Poly on our most recent trip. You are right about how nice it is. I want to stay there on our next trip.

I like starting at the Animal Kingdom too for some reason, although we started at Epcot on the most recent trip. It is good that you rode the safari again and saw the giraffes. That is my older son's favorite animal, so I was happy we saw them as well. It is funny that you mention a nervous Mom on each ride with the shaky bridge. The bridge itself did not bother me, but for the first time ever, we had a rough driver. My five month old was in my lap. I could barely hold onto him during the movement. We caught air more than once. It was the first time I was ever nervous on that ride.

I agree with Ron that the Nemo show is better than the Festival of the Lion King, although they are both good shows. Cannot wait to read more tomorrow. You got some amazing pictures, and I am really enjoying what I've read thus far.

:cheer2: How awesome that you are thinking of the 5K! I think you should go for it!

I've never done it (blew out both knees in high school track) but I'd love to. It would be great motivation to get back out there after the baby comes. Keep us posted on your decision!

I love the picture of Tinkerbell in your hand. That is awesome how many times you got to ride Toy Story. We had an epic failure in planning that caused us to ride it only once last trip. I agree that Fantasmic is a good show but not worth a super long wait. We waited a long time once at Disneyland, and I said never again. At WDW, I always get a dinner package to see the show. The Streets of America were empty when you were there. I totally pictured a zombie coming out from behind one of the buildings. Will start Day 3 later.

I know I am late to the party. I just saw your trip report title on another trip report I've been reading. It got me. We are so into zombies right now and are loving the Walking Dead. On top of that, I am pre-planning our next trip, which will be our 10 year anniversary which is 10 years from when we spent our Disneymoon at WDW. Anyway, I have a lot of catching up to do.

:welcome: Better late than never. :goodvibes Ron and his daughter are big time into zombies. Me, not so much. He is watching the Walking Dead as well.

Congrats on your 10 year anniversary! :wizard: Are you planning anything special? I hope we too get to celebrate at least one big anniversary at Disney.

Yay! for more positive reviews of going on a trip with a young baby. :cool1: Ron is getting more and more used to the idea, so that's cool. I told him we'd make a final decision once we saw what kind of baby Claudia will be, so that seemed to ease off his mind as well.

I'm glad we got a long break between the wedding and the honeymoon as well. For months I was busy planning/dreaming about our wedding. Then when we came back I was on a high talking and reminiscing about the wedding week for a while. Then I got to switch my focus towards the Disneymoon and really plan for it. But wow, only 5 nights for your honeymoon? After this super long trip, we know we will have a hard time going back for only a week next time. I can't even imagine doing only 5 days!

We did not even make it to the Poly on our most recent trip. You are right about how nice it is. I want to stay there on our next trip.

It's Ron's dream resort. It's sorta mine as well, but it's tied with AKL and Beach Club. :rotfl: Hopefully we'll get to stay there one day, and I hope you get your wish of staying there on your next trip.

Since we've only been twice, it's not really a tradition (yet). It just seems to end up that way after careful planning. I think I'd be happy starting at any park, but Ron likes leaving MK for last so we can build up our excitement to it.

I think I'm not nervous at all on the safari because driving on our roads in winter/early spring is just as bad and bumpy. :rotfl2:

Yes, both of them are good shows, almost equally as good. I think I just like the acrobatics of the Lion King more, as well as the songs as it is my favorite animated movie.

Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying the read so far.

Replies in purple in your quote.

I found out that you can't run in the stroller division, only walk, so I'm a bit disappointed in that. But Ron said if I really want to I could run and he'd walk with the stroller. We'll see how training goes first. I plan on starting training this summer, even if we won't have definite plans until a couple of months later. :goodvibes

I think getting to ride TSM 4 times in one day is one of our biggest success of the trip. :wizard: Such a FUN ride! With good planning, and choosing the right day to go to DHS, I'm sure you'll be able to ride it more often next time.

We'll probably only watch Fantasmic every few trips. Since some parts might be scary to young children, I'm guessing we'll skip it for a few years.

Ron reaaaaaally enjoys talking about what he would do if he were stuck in a zombie apocalypse at WDW. :lmao: And Streets of America were the perfect setting to illustrate his point.

I understand about skipping Fantasmic every other trip or so. I will say I saw the new Fantasmic last week and it was fantastic! The mist is so much better now so you can see the projections perfectly, and it's just overall wonderful. But, if I only had one day at HS I would definitely skip it next time to not take the time it takes up in line and such.

I was just wondering about the new Fantasmic. Did they add anything new, or did they just upgrade the quality? Unless I have a baby that can sleep anywhere and through loud noises, I doubt we'll want to sit through a 30 minutes show that late on our next trip.

Last time I saw it was 15 years ago, so I don't remember it well. It was definitely a MUCH better show quality-wise. I will be posting a TON of pictures from the show in my TR, so maybe you will see some new things in them? I definitely agree about the baby probably not doing well, since it is very loud. Maybe the baby's second visit? :goodvibes

Hmm. I don't know as I wasn't the person who packed, LOl! I know she brought every medicine imaginable, an extra outfit to the park each day. :) I wish she would have brought a carrier, as it would have been easier on some of the rides and when waiting in line. I would take her to restaurants and give her time to sit in the highchairs there, as well as go on outings where she can fall asleep in her stroller... She will need this skill in the parks. :)

One more thing... We had a carrier, but it wasn't one that was comfortable for more Than 20 minutes.

I was not really into the Walking Dead at first either. At times, I would be in the room while DH was watching only paying attention half the time. I started to get really intersted toward the end of the 2011 episodes and felt behind. Luckily, they played a marathon on New Year's Eve. I got caught up.

Our 10 year anniversary is over a year and a half away. I am just pre-planning it at this point. Other than finally going to Victoria and Albert's, I am not quite sure what we are going to do. I know I want to stay at the Poly though. DH wants to stay the GF again, since he loved it there on our most recent stay. I will probably win, because I am the Disney planner.

My first baby was much harder than my second. They were both easy on trips though. I will do it again once we have our third (not pregnant quite yet) no matter what. Hope you have an easy baby though. My second being easier than the first is the reason we are going to try for a third. I really want a daughter but will be okay with a third boy.

I hope to ride Toy Story more next time too. The line at DCA has no fast pass and always has about an hour wait, so we only ride it once there too.

I am through day three now. You had a lot of luck with PhotoPass that day. They got some great shots.

I know what you mean about contacts. Pre-lasik, I only wore glasses. For my wedding, I decided to wear contacts. It was a windy day, and I have very dry eyes. Putting them in, a piece broke off, so I was uncomfortable all day. It took me forever to get them in, so I dealt with the pain through the pictures. My eyes were so dry and hurting. Finally, I had enough. After over an hour in the bathroom, multiple rewetting attempts and about 50 different fingers in my eyes, I finally cried out of frustration. The contact that had been suctioned to my eye, finally came off. I never wore them again after that. When I woke up from our eternal slumber, that eye was literally swollen shot. It was so infected. As soon as I got clearance for lasik, I had it done.

You two look very nice on your romantic dinner. I did not notice any issues from a lack of blow dryer, but then again I almost never blow dry my own hair. Your baby will probably be adorable.

Looks like you had a great day at MK. I am glad Ron found his phone. The pretzel and nachos looked amazing. I am still thinking about them. The Phantom picture is a mystery. Did you ever find out how it happened? The Magic, the Memories and You is an awesome show. We loved it too. Even with the mid-day break, I am impressed that you were at rope drop and made it to 1:30am without looking tired.

Finished my report cards!! :cool1::banana::cheer2: What a relief! What's even better, is knowing I won't have to do report cards again for over a year. :dance3: I thought I'd celebrate by posting an update tonight, but Peanut is pushing on my ribs and making it really uncomfortable to sit. Instead I'll just do replies, and update tomorrow. :)

Two more random comments:
- Ron and his daughter are watching some Japanese drama (with subtitles). It has a lot of random music in it. well, tonight they played a little bit of the music from MSEP!! So weird to hear it in a Japanese show. :upsidedow

- I finally got to talk on the phone with the friend I helped plan her Disney trip for this past January. They all LOVED it! Her sister is already saving her money to go back. And my friend is even interested in running the 5K next year with us. I'm so glad I had a hand in making her a Disney convert. :hippie:

Okay, three random comments. After a very mild February and even starting to see grass, it's snowing. Yuck!

Looking forward to seeing those pictures in your TR. Yes, baby's second, or third visit at the most, and we should be ready to go back to Fantasmic. :thumbsup2

One more thing... We had a carrier, but it wasn't one that was comfortable for more Than 20 minutes.

Thanks for the tips! We'll definitely go walk with her in the stroller a lot this summer, and we'll try to bring her to restaurants or places "similar" to Disney (in crowds and noise). For sure I will need a comfortable carrier as I plan on taking salsa lessons for mommies/babies in the fall. :goodvibes

I was not really into the Walking Dead at first either. At times, I would be in the room while DH was watching only paying attention half the time. I started to get really intersted toward the end of the 2011 episodes and felt behind. Luckily, they played a marathon on New Year's Eve. I got caught up.

I do that with so many shows that DH watches! I'll be on my laptop, half paying attention. After several episodes I'll get really into it, and make him watch again from the beginning! :rotfl:

Our 10 year anniversary is over a year and a half away. I am just pre-planning it at this point. Other than finally going to Victoria and Albert's, I am not quite sure what we are going to do. I know I want to stay at the Poly though. DH wants to stay the GF again, since he loved it there on our most recent stay. I will probably win, because I am the Disney planner.

Oh, you have plenty of time to plan! Ron would love to go to Victoria and Albert, but I'm not an adventurous eater at all so it would probably be a waste of money for me. The Poly is way higher on my list than the GF, so I hope you win.

My first baby was much harder than my second. They were both easy on trips though. I will do it again once we have our third (not pregnant quite yet) no matter what. Hope you have an easy baby though. My second being easier than the first is the reason we are going to try for a third. I really want a daughter but will be okay with a third boy.

I have a colleague who's first baby was named Angel, but she was anything but that! Luckily her second baby is much easier. At first Ron was worried about bringing a baby on a trip, but now he's even thinking about extending the trip a few days! How many days were each of your trips with young babies? Oh, and my aunt gave me this trick for having a girl. I don't know how well it works, but PM me if you want me to tell you.

I hope to ride Toy Story more next time too. The line at DCA has no fast pass and always has about an hour wait, so we only ride it once there too.

I think if there were no FP I would not get to ride TSM more than once.
Other replies are in purple.

Yes, we got lots of good shots, which is awesome! We definitely got our money's worth with photopass on that trip.

Maybe one day I'll do Lasik, but right now I prefer to save all my money to go to Disney. ;) It would be awesome to have perfect vision again, though I am so used seeing myself with glasses that it would be weird. I did wear contacts on my wedding day and it wasn't so bad, but I can't do it for more than a few hours. It must have been so frustrating to suffer like that on your wedding day!

You two look very nice on your romantic dinner. I did not notice any issues from a lack of blow dryer, but then again I almost never blow dry my own hair. Your baby will probably be adorable.

Awwww, that is very sweet of you. Thank you! We are always so much more critical of ourselves than other people are.

We had a great and very FILLED day at MK, that's for sure! I'm so glad Ron found his phone right away, as I'm sure it would have put a damper on the rest of our day. It would have made separating to go do different rides much harder as well.

Ok, I went and reread that day because I had no clue what Phantom pic you were talking about! And I still have no clue! Can you quote it in a post?

Magic, Memories and You has surpassed Wishes in terms of my favorite nighttime show at Disney. It's that awesome! I hope I get to see one of those special tag they add once in a while at some point on a future trip. And I REALLY hope they don't stop stop showing it!

At home we often stay up past midnight, but at Disney it's much harder since we go-go-go all the time. We were pretty tired by the end of that night, but thanks for thinking we don't look like it. :goodvibes

It is always fun when you convert someone over to Disney.

I make my DH watch with me from the beginning to. He usually gets upset, but it was his idea to watch the marathon, luckily.

I am not an adventurous eater either, and my money will probably be wasted. DH has wanted to try it for years. He eats everything. It should be romantic enough for me to deal with the food for him. Lately, my tastebuds have expanded, so I may be surprised. My goal is to stay at each deluxe at least once. GF is now lowest on my list, since it is the only one we've tried.

A lot of people say the second is harder than the first, but I know quite a few people who think differently. Each kid is different. You could even get lucky and have all easy kids.

Total trips with babies. Unless specified, we drove.

Apr 07' Four days ät DLR with a four month old -Great trip.

June 07' Four Days at DLR and San Diego with a six month old - Pretty great. Son got diarrhea.

Oct 07' Three Days at Knott's Berry Farm with a 10 month old- Pretty great. Son just getting over a sickness.

Nov 07' Three Days in San Diego (Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Balboa) with an almost 11 month old- Amazing trip

June 08' Ten Days with an 18 month old through Southern California stopping at Legoland and many other places- Great trip

July 08' DLR Four Days with a 19 month old- Great trip. Was scared of some of the rides. First time he ever exhibited fear.

July 09' DLR Four Days with a 2.5 year old- Great trip. Scared of a few rides and characters.

Jan 10' Eleven Days at WDW with a 3 year old. Amazing trip. He slept more than he usually did. Flying with DS and DH.

July 10' Four Days at DLR with a 3.5 year old. Great trip. Very hot and he wanted to be carried (only by me) through all the queues.

August 10' Three Days at Magic Mountain with a 3.5 year old. Awesome trip.

December 11' Eleven Days 8 at WDW and 3 on the Disney Dream with a four year olf who turned 5 on the trip and a 5 month old. Still reporting, so I do not want to give away any major details yet. It was pretty awesome though. My favorite trip so far. Flew with DS5mos, while DH flew with DS4almost5.

As you can see, we never had a bad trip. There are some small issues, but travelling with the kids has never been hard.

I will send you the PM, because I really want a daughter. Thank you.

I LOVE Disney and all trips in general, but I do not regret getting lasik. It was one of the best things I ever did (other than marrying my husband, having my kids and other important things like that).

On Day Four Part Four right after the first picture, you wrote, “It says I took it at 7:38pm, minutes before all my other pictures of Main Street. It looks like the inside of the Train Station, but we didn't take the train at that time. Why would I go up there just to take this picture? Am I wrong and is it from somewhere other than the Train Station”? I wondered if you ever figured out how it got that time stamp or where it was taken.

Luckily my DH doesn't mind watching from the beginning.

Yeah, even if I'm a picky eater, I still kinda want to try V&A just for the experience and romantic atmosphere. I have been a bit better at trying new food lately, so who knows. I might even find something I like! Maybe for a 10 years anniversary, like you.

Nice to know long trips are possible with babies. And I didn't even notice that you are writing a TR! I'll go check it out now.

I really have no clue where we took that picture. Since the next picture taken one minute later is of City Hall, I can only guess that we went up to the Train Station just to take a picture, but came back down right away. Maybe we either just missed the train, or I wanted to take a pic since I had forgotten earlier? :confused3

Day 8 part 3 - Totally Awesome Dude!
August 18th, 2011

Here's a map of the Seas pavillion.

DSC03510.jpg

Our goal that day was to do everything that Future World has to offer. So we decided to watch Turtle Talk With Crush. It's this way.

DSC03509.jpg

There we are!

We had a little bit of time in the waiting area, so what did we do? Take lots of pictures, of course!

I also did a little quiz on sea life.

And took more pictures! Are you tired of fishes yet? I'm not. They are so colorful and peaceful and interesting! Don't bring me fishing though, that's boring to me.

Finally we were let in the room. We sat on a bench towards the back. Our verdict?

"Totally Awesome, Dude!"

Ron was amazed by the technology and we both found it very funny. One little kid asked where turtles go to the bathroom when in the ocean, so Crush proceeded to hide behind a rock, with only his face peeking out for a good 20 seconds, as an "ackward" presentation. :rotfl: We'll definitely come back, with or without kids.

After this show was over, did we leave The Seas? Nope! A dolphin presentation was about to start right as Turtle Talk ended, so we headed there. Since we got there last minute we were stuck on the top tier floor, but it's okay. It was quite informative, and definitely full of cuteness. Are you ready to Ooooooooh! and Awwwwwww!?

I tried taking a picture with a flash, since they said it was allowed. This was the result:

Not good. So back to no-flash blurry pictures.

After we got a full dose of amazing dolphins we headed back out into the sun. We'd been in there for nearly 90 minutes! First thing we stumbled upon were the Jamminators.

Unfortunately, we caught them near the end. Soon they were distributing stickers to the kids watching.

We left them and headed to the other side of Future World. We were not done exploring!

"Stupid Judy, Stupid Energy!"

I'd do the 5k with you, but I'm so not a runner. Stupid asthma.

Good luck!

Great update Mel. Wow seeing all those fish and dolphins in the preshow areas of Turtle talk with Crush is making me think about my possible trip to the London film museum and the aquarium. Also it's my birthday today and I'm 19 today!

Day 8 part 4 - Stupid Judy, Stupid Energy!
August 18th, 2011

I was suppose to be out tonight with Ron and his daughter, but I feel a bit off. Instead I let them go and have a father-daughter evening and stayed behind. Since I have some extra time on my hands, why not do another update? Don't miss the one I did a few hours ago as well.

So after spending lots of time visiting The Seas and watching a little bit of the Jamminators, we hiked to the other side of Future World.

Ron got Test track FPs again, while I took pictures.

Then it was time to try something new : Ellen's Universe of Energy.

DSC03539.jpg

There was no wait, obviously, and soon we were listening to the very funny Ellen.

Ron especially liked hearing "Stupid Judy, Stupid Energy!". For some reason they always put that little sound clip at the beginning of the WDW Today podcast, we we used to listen to very often. After the video, you are ushered into moving theatre seats and move through different scenes, both real and just movie screens.

Though it was somewhat interesting, it was mostly calming. Great for a midday break! It made Ron sleepy though, so we need something to wake us up. How about using one of those two sets of Test Track FPs?

Since we were both tired, we decided to pretend to sleep for the picture.

In the first picture you can see white on Ron's face. That's because for some reason, the sunscreen we had was really THICK! Random comment over.

I took a few pictures of the post ride area.

And outside.

It was about 3pm now. Were we finally done touring Future World? Stay tuned to find out!
