Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

That'S what's great about WDW. You can enjoy yourself even when you're not with someone. My mom often go our separate ways from time to time. It lets us do what we want and gives us "alone" time.

I'm sorry about your mom. I hope she is well.

I'm not big on doing solo things at home, but at Disney there is plenty to keep me entertained. Then it's fun to reunite back and have new things to say to each other. I'll never do a solo trip though, Ron would be way too jealous! :rotfl2:

Thanks. My mom's health has been pretty much status quo for the past 6-8 months, which is good. Actually, it's more like a miracle that she's doing this "good" after all these months. So we just enjoy the time with her and try not to worry about what might/will happen.

Wow you guys are troopers for being able to stay at MK past 1am. I've never done that. And I don't know if I will hehe

We are kinda night owls at home, but staying up late at Disney is a lot harder after getting up early and being out and about all day. We would have never lasted that long without our afternoon break, and we definitely needed the extra sleep the next day! I'm glad we did it though, it was different. :)

Eek! I'm all caught up both on Dis & REAL LIFE. EEEEK. Congrats!:woohoo: It's so exciting to be having a little princess in your life sometime soon! I can't wait to have someone to share the magic with and watch their little face light up! Ack! So magical! I loved the updates, I feel like Epcot is such a relaxing park, you really can take your time through the Seas/Land pavillion, and WS, I enjoy it!

Thank you! :cool1: Going to the park and seeing my little princess' face light up is somethign I very much look forward too. I'm sure you'll get that joy too someday, but you have many years ahead of you. ;)

Epcot can be both relaxing and tiring, with how much ground there is to cover. But we love it there! :goodvibes

I haven't seen the lanterns at the botanical garden in years.

I need to go back! Just one of those things I always say I'm gonna do and never have the time to.

Ron and I had seen the lanterns on one of our first date, but the only reason we've been going back is because his daughter likes it so much. Which is a shame, we should do more dates like that as a couple as well, and it's so pretty. But if I have any advice to you, go on a week night!!! Weekends are so freakin crowded, you can barely move. Ugh!

Wow that sunset over world showcase was beautiful!

I love sunsets everywhere, and I'm so lucky that I got to see sunsets in two amazing places this year : the beach and World Showcase. :cloud9:

I totally had one of those yellow walkmans lol

Just this weekend we had conversation about walkman with Ron's daughter. She cannot believe we used to walk around with those AND that before that we had no way of listening to music on the go. Boy do we feel old. :lmao:

I'm so jealous you got to meet the Queen! I have never met the meanies except Hook. Oh well.. more reasons to go back lol
Ewww huge spider. Get that away from me!

How did you manage to find how these hard to see characters lol Mary Poppins is one of my faves!

Luck and knowing about characterpalooza is how we got to meet those random characters. :thumbsup2 Hook and the Queen were lots of fun!

:rotfl: The spider was quite huge, but they don't bother me too much as they get rid of more annoying bugs.

Finally getting to play catch-up here.

Congrats on little Claudia. That is such a pretty name. My favorite books growing up were the Babysitters Club and one of the girls was named Claudia and I always loved it.

But atleast it wasn't a mosquito infestation in the hotel room like in Mickeystoontown's TR. The spider I mean not the baby...ofcourse...

I took the afternoon off because I was suppose to have a doctor's appointment. I also took the opportunity to meet with the HR lady to talk about when to leave and come back from my maternity leave. Noticed how I said suppose to have a dr appointment? Well, she ended up spending the whole day at the hospital delivering babies, so my appointment is tomorrow instead. At least the secretary was nice enough to inform us by phone so I did not waste time waiting at the dr's office. What did I do with my extra time at home? Did I do the corrections I had packed in my bag for the waiting room or did I spend time surfing the web? :rolleyes1 I'll let you take a guess...

Funny you say that. It's by no means the reason why I chose Claudia, but I was a huge fan of the Baby-Sitters Club as a kid and Claudia was one of my favorite character in those books. It was around that time that my grandma started talking to me about her mother and how much she loved her name, so it certainly helped foster a positive view of the name. :goodvibes I hope my Claudia was a creative personality just like that character.

Like I said, I don't mind spiders too much since they eat those darn mosquitoes... :rotfl:

Hey Mel,
I love the blue bedding. Very feminine and I think it is very clever to avoid the pink. Trust me. She will get a lot of pink things already.

The name Claudia is super adorable. Beatriz' best friend at her daycare is Claudia and I always thought it was so feminine and strong.

Great Epcot update. Nemo is one of my favorite rides but Beatriz is not a big fan. She is very afraid of Bruce. And that sandwich from SS looks amazing.

Have a good week!

I don't mind spiders either, come to think of it I actually like Spiders. Hell I put a spider quite so big back into it's tank once. I really don't get how spiders can be so frightening to girls. Not all spiders are dangerous ya know.

I am terrified of spiders. Apparently they say that the fear of spiders is because they have 8 legs and makes them unpredictable.

Future Disney Trip???

Ron and I have been talking more and more about when we want to go back to Disney next. At first we were thinking Fall 2013, or maybe May 2013. But now that I've talked to my HR person and have decided to go back to work mid-March, we are thinking January or February. Ron mentionned going right after New Years, so we could see the Holiday decoration without having to pay the big price. :cloud9:

That got me thinking... there is Marathon weekend around that time! Ron is really interested in running the 5K, but only if Claudia and I can run it with him. I checked, and lo and behold, there is a stroller division! (At least there was this past January). Am I crazy wanting to train for a 5K right after I give birth? What about having a 6 months old baby in a stroller during the entire race? And can both Ron and I run together in the stroller division, or is it one person per stroller?

Hey Queila!

Yes, I love how the bedding is feminine without being pink. And I do not doubt she will get lots of pink stuff, even from me. :rotfl:

Awww, Beatriz' friend is named Claudia! I agree that it sounds feminine and strong. princess:

I'm sure as she gets older Beatriz will be less and less scared of Bruce and will appreciate the ride as much as you do. :)

I'm only afraid of tarantulas and giant spiders like that. I can deal with the small ones in my home no problem (though I am not as brave now than I was when I was younger...)

I never thought of it that way. But I did have a dream (more like a nightmare) about a month ago with lots of spiders and it's true, they were pretty unpredictable in my dream.

You should totally do it!!

Sounds like a great plan for MANY reason!

First of all, the 5K is so much fun and I think "training" for it will be a great motivation to get back into shape after you have the baby. I also know that they don't time it and there were lots of people walking - I'm sure even more-so in the stroller division so if you're worried about if you'll have the stamina or strength to complete it, that should NOT be a concern at all!

I also think going during that time of year is perfect for crowds, weather and the remaining holiday decorations.

DO IT!

I think it's awesome that you'll want to run the 5K! It is definitely attainable after a baby. Yes, you'll both be able to run in that division (it's for whole families), and Claudia will be just fine. A 5k really doesn't last that long, and she'll probably fall asleep! Just make sure you have a jogging stroller with enough leg clearance for your stride. You can always rent one from one of the stroller companies (Kingdom Strollers, Orlando Stroller Rental, Magic Strollers, etc.). YOU CAN DO IT!!!:woohoo:

That sounds like a great time to go on a Disney trip! I REALLY want to do the Royal Family 5K, you run through EPCOT! (Well, unless they've changed it!) That sounds so amazing! And I think doing the stroller division would be awesome! :thumbsup2 Do you run already? If not, the Couch to 5K program is great, I started it last year but gave up because it was getting to hot to run, but I really want to pick it up again this year!

The more I think about it, and after reading your enthusiastic responses, the more I want to do it!

The fact that it will give me motivation to get back into shape after the baby is a big reason why I want to do it. What better motivation than a Disney 5K?? :woohoo: It's nice to know I would be able to walk some of it, as I doubt I could get to running 5K straight.

And yes, the lighter crowd and cooler weather is a HUGE reason why we are thinking January in the first place. The Holiday decorations are just a nice bonus.

For the past year we have kinda dreamed about doing a Disney 5K, but we never really thought we would actually ever get the chance to do it, or at least not for many many years. But when I found out there is a stroller division, it got me so pumped! It's a relief to hear that we would be able to run all together, as that is part of the appeal. There is even a (very) small chance that Ron's daughter (13) might accompany us, so she could run with us too! If we get serious about this we'll have to see about buying a stroller here (to train), or just renting one there and training a different way here.

Yes, I CAN DO IT!!! :cheer2:

I don't know where the run will be next year, but this year it was through Epcot and that would be AMAZING!!! Though really, any park would be awesome. And it might be our only chance ever to go to Disney during that time of year, so we should take advantage of it. :goodvibes

I ran a bit last year to be in shape for our Disneymoon, but I didn't get very far. And obviously we stopped the second our honeymoon was over. I don't remember if I had used the couch to 5K or a run disney training program. I really really want to be outside a lot with Peanut this summer, and this would be such a perfect reason! :wizard:

This pretty much sums up how I feel about you wanting to do a 5K only a little while after having a baby - :worship::worship::worship:

I say, if you think you can do it, do it! I've never even attempted to be a runner, so I have no idea what it entails as far as training goes, but I do think it would be excellent motivation, and what better place to do it than Disney! :goodvibes

You should totally do it! And not just because it would be great fun, but because I am thinking about going at that time and doing it too! I have actually been training for a 5K for the last few months and am getting better. My biggest issue is my asthma, which only acts up when I exercise too much. But by slowing training I can go longer and longer before it acts up. :goodvibes I can easily do a fast walk/mid-jog switch off for the 5K now, and am working up to being able to at least jog it all and getting faster at it. I hope you guys can do it!

I'm no expert in disney marathons or anything like that but I think it sounds about right for you. In other words you should definatly go for it. And Mel do you either March or April is a good time to go to Disney?

Anyone know when they usually open up registration for a race, and how quickly it fills up? Oh, and if you can cancel your registration up until a point? As much as I'm motivated to doing it now, there are so many factors that could change that before it's actually time to race...

You should totally do the 5k!! You CAN do it!!! How exciting!!:cheer2:

All these positive comments on here make me want to do it even more! Hopefully I'll still be thinking that come July and I have to start training for real... :rotfl:

I go from thinking I can totally do it, to thinking I must be crazy to even think of running a 5K 6 months after having a baby. But tonight at the grocery store I saw an article of a local tv actress who gave birth early December and through training she already lost almost all the baby weight! If she can do it, then I guess I can too! I never attempted to run until 2 years ago with Ron, and that summer was pretty much a fail. But last year I discovered the technique of walking a little, then jogging a little, and constantly switching and it worked so much better!

Ooh, a run AND a Dismeet would be even more fun! The friend I sent to Disney 3 weeks ago also replied on my Facebook that she'd be interested in running the 5K with us. I think someone caught the Disney bug... :rotfl:

I don't have any asthma problem, but I get winded very quickly when I run (yet have no problem walking up stairs fast or swimming). So the way I found that worked for me last year was the slow training like you, with the walk/jog switch off. I did not train very seriously, so I did not get very far with it, but I'm sure I could do it. I'm sure you can do it too! :thumbsup2

I'm not a big runner, but if it means running in Disney then my motivation is way higher. :)

Since most American kids have their Spring break in March or April, and since Easter is early April, I would say the best time to travel is either the first week of March (less kids on break), or the last 2 weeks of April (again, less kids on break and the Easter rush should be over). April will be a lot warmer.

I think running the 5k is a great idea! And taking a non-mobile baby will be great! We took a 7month old in Sept 2010 and she was probably the least annoying person on the trip, LOL!

I just read about the 2012 edition of the Fiesta 5K and it says that in the stroller division you have to walk, you are not allowed to run with a stroller. Can anybody confirm that? I'm slightly disappointed in not having to at least run a bit, though at the same time partly relieved that I won't have to train as hard. Hmm, maybe I should NOT have read that until I started training for real. :rotfl:

Can somebody point me in the right direction on the board where I could find more info about things RunDisney? Also, about how far in advance do they start registration, and how quickly does it fill up?

Ron is VERY concerned about bringing a 6 months old baby, so maybe I should tell him that! Did you drive or take a plane there? I'll go check out your TR, but is there anything we should think about in terms of bringing a baby?

I know I am late to the party. I just saw your trip report title on another trip report I've been reading. It got me. We are so into zombies right now and are loving the Walking Dead. On top of that, I am pre-planning our next trip, which will be our 10 year anniversary which is 10 years from when we spent our Disneymoon at WDW. Anyway, I have a lot of catching up to do.
