You've Got To be Kidding Me!

I can honestly say we've never resorted to eating on top of a trash can. And we always seem to find a nice place to sit. When we were there for the F&W festival even, there were always plenty of open tables at the Liberty Inn. I've never run into a circumstance where I couldn't find a place to sit. Ever.

When I was there in November, the benches by Rose & Crown were gone. Does anyone know if they have returned?

A year ago I would have said the same thing. However when I was at MK in February I could not find anywhere to sit! But I just assumed they would replace the benches once the hub was done! :(

There are places to rest. No need to be furious.
Ok, where?! What if I want to see one of the shows like British Rev? Due to back and knee problems I won't sit on the ground or curb with no back support!! nor will I lean on a trash can!!! Walt surely is turning over!!! At least he is comfortable!!!

I think MK is one of the easiest parks at which to find seating. So many outdoor tables and chairs by the quick service restaurants. As long as they are not busy and you are not sitting for an hour, why not use them? So many low walls and planters. Lots of seating in the area by the Tangled restrooms, near the Liberty Tree Tavern, by Splash. If you are only going to sit on a bench you may have a problem. But there are really many other places to sit and rest.

OMG!!!!!!! :mad::mad:
This is just NUTS!!!!! WTH!!!!
Where are people supposed to relax?? What about those people that can't manage the all day hike!!?? And need a break now and then??!! What about those that choose not to ride an attraction with the group and decide to wait!! They have to stand?? or worse yet..... sit on the hard ground/concrete..... or even wet if it may have rained???
And are you telling me they have not put back ANY of the benches near the hub at MK???????????

This thread now has me furious!!!!!!!!!! :furious::furious:

I think it's really as simple as Disney wanting people to leave sooner; obviously they benefit from shorter stays at the parks.

Can you please leave Walt out of it? None of us know what he would or wouldn't do, and wanting him up and running the parks is a giant waste of energy. Most shows have some sort of seating nearby. Maybe not a chair or bench, but there typically is some sort of seating.

If you have to have a chair with back support, then I don't know what to tell you. Even a lot of the quick service places no longer have that. Disney doesn't want people lingering in one spot, is my guess. And I honestly don't think a theme park needs chairs all over the place. But if you are just looking to take a load off, then yes, there are places. If you need back support and need to sit often then you may want to rent a wheelchair.

While I agree with your posts, I think this thread started out that they had removed all the seating for British Revolution.

I agree it is no need to be "furious".

I have had no trouble finding seating for myself. When I see these threads I am left wondering what seats they are talking about.

True, but not the trees in Epcot that are near the benches that used to have umbrellas that don't anymore that some people say might have been removed because they blocked the view that the trees still block. :)

Not to be nitpicky, but do the trees have a higher clearance?

Just wondering if removal of the umbrellas helped to improve the view even though the trees remain?

My mom rents a scooter because she cannot manage all day. This may not be a solution for everyone. But has been long known, benches or not, that Disney is quite the walking endeavor.

Disney built a ton of seating into the hub.

No, I don't think so. But I do think the extent to which some will rationalize that cost-cutting measures are anything but cost-cutting measures is simply astounding.

Maybe people are trying to bring up other ideas as to what it could be, instead of jumping right to the conclusion that it has to be some sort of cost cutting measure?

Except that I didn't jump right to that conclusion. I've been thinking about it for days and did some research. It appears that one of the reasons TDC is profitable right now is because they like to cut costs on things they think nobody will notice, need, appreciate, or miss. Go figure.........

Are you referring to my posts?

Becaus I am pondering. Not rationalizing.

Seems to me like removing benches might just be a safety issue. If the walkways are crowded enough then a lone bench won't provide any visible clues that it's even there, causing people to walk right into them. A built-in bench, however, would have visible clues like a tree or light post or fence.

You seem to have quite an interest in the topic.

I didn't notice the umbrellas before. I really don't know where everyone is talking about. So I guess that means I didn't notice they were missing.
