your best character interaction?

We have so many honestly and we've only been three times (4 later this week!!).

To watch my very timid 4 year old son walk up to a character and actually smile for the picture with a true smile and happiness in his eyes is priceless to me!!!

When we went in Sept, my 2 year old son saw Stitch - now he had NO CLUE who Stitch was. He ran to him with a big grin and open arms! He and Stitch just loved on each other for quite some time. I'll have to find the picture and post it - it's truly priceless.

Thank you all for sharing your stories. I'm sitting here reading them with tears in my eyes at work! :goodvibes

For the poster who made the Captain Hook shirt - where did you go to meet Captain Hook?? My boys have been looking for him and I'd like to try and track him down. On a more personal note, didn't I see you in line meeting the boys from the Deadliest Catch in Epcot in Dec????

Captain Hook (typically with Mister Smee) is typically found on a daily basis outside of Pirates of the Carribean. From what I understand, he's there (on and off) for most of the day.

my DD age 2 3/4 was on her first trip to Disney, and in Animal Kingdom she ran up to Piglet to give him a big hug. Well my DD was a small child and I guess he did not see her down there, well he stepped back and accidentally stepped on her foot, not hurting her, but still it was funny as this tiny little girl looked up at Piglet and said excuse me that's my toe your on. He stepped back and then reached down to hug her, I have a picture somewhere that has my DD pointing to her toe. Talk about a close interaction with a character:goodvibes , she still remembers that Piglet stepped on her toe, even 6 years later.:cool1: :cool1:

OK , I am a sucker for these as well. We have had the incredible luck of meeting many characters. The funnest moments were with Winnie and the gang at Epcot (Tigger danced with me and bear hugged my DH while poor Eeyore was pouting in a corner).

The most memorable one was when DD finally me Mulan. We had been twice to Epcot in the last year and twice Mulan was a no-show. The day we met her, we had spent the AM at Epcot, it was blistering hot and DD was running a fever. We decided to head back to the hotel to rest a bit, and walked by China. DD met Mulan, Mulan was wonderful and asked DD to draw her a picture, and showed off the artwork to everyone around.

DD fell asleep on the bus happy as ever. Some pics:

Oooh! I have one!

I took my friend to the MK P&PP last May for his birthday, and I told him we could do whatever he wanted (which in some cases can be a BIG mistake, but this is Disney, so what can possibly happen?) So he sees Ariel's Grotto, and asks "What's that?" and I replied, "Oh, it's a kiddie playground and there's a place where you can meet Ariel from Little Mermaid." So we walked around Fantasyland for a bit, then out of the blue he says to me, "Can we go meet Ariel? I want to see the girl with the tail." (yes, he worded it JUST LIKE THAT :rotfl: ) So I caved in and we get in line to wait 45 min. for a grown man to see Ariel for his birthday. Finally, we get up to the cave entrance and I get my camera out and he says, "Whoa, I just wanted to see her, I don't want my picture made or anything." :headache: So I replied, "You mean we waited in this line for 45 minutes so you could see 'the fish-girl' and you're not even going to TALK to her?? Well I'm getting my picture made with her whether you want to or not!" So I walk over to Ariel (who has overheard our little conversation) and I said, "You'll have to excuse my FRIEND, he's a little shy." And she giggled and replied, "Awww! Just like Flounder!" :rotfl2:

Needless to say, I made my friend take our picture. Without him.
I love face characters.

We had a fun one with Donald last week at the Character Spot at Epcot. DD was standing there, and he was reaching around behind her. I thought he was checking to see if she had a tail! The CM with him (playing along) started yelling at him, Donald, you get out of her backpack!!! He had opened up one of her pockets on her backpack and pulled out her wet wipes! The CM grabbed them away from him and told him, "You stay out of there!" Haha, my DD had a blast. She loves Donald now, of course! :lovestruc

What a fun experience with Ariel! LOL Loved the Mulan pics, too - my DW is desperately hoping that the one we have "on the way" will be like yours - curly red heair. This will be baby #4, and none have had red hair (even though I do).

Back a couple years ago before my grandma passed, she had a funny interaction with Gepetto! That was when they had the character caravan go to different countries in WS, and they had just landed in Japan as we were walking up. All the kiddies were mobbing Mickey and Minnie, but nobody was going near Gepetto. My grandma said "Aw, poor Gepetto!" Well, that is all he needed to hear, he came over and kissed her hand then kissed her head then kissed about ten times up her arm, and holding his heart while tossing his head back. Well, my grandma was not one for having a fuss made over her so she kept trying to get away, but Gepetto kept following her!! :lmao: Finally he had to get back on the bus and my grandma said "that's the last time I feel sorry for Gepetto!!" :lmao:

We finally got directed to the right spot, and stood around for a while wondering were we at the right "wall" -- then a photographer came out and confirmed we were -- and explained how she can't take Mary Poppins pics. (Apparently Julie Andrews has the rights.)
That is utterly bizarre. I have photopass and personal pics. taken with Mary Poppins. That photographer was either very misinformed or was pulling your leg for some odd reason.

We caught Capt Hook and Snitty at POTC In the line que,the are great with the kids

We had some excellent character interaction this past week...well I did, DF decided to take pics because the characters were for the little kids :confused3 I however had a blast. 2 that stand out for me were Cinderellas evil step mother and sisters who were awesome as was Meeko the racoon. DF proposed on monday during wishes and we got out Just Engaged buttons, well the evil step sisters fussed endless over the ring and the fact that I would make a much better princess in a white dress than cinderella, plus the gave BF heck for making me wear both badges (they're pink and he thought they were too girly :headache: ). Druzilla actually unpinned it from my bag and pinned it on his hat and made him wear it then kept yelling as he took it off while we left their area :rotfl2:

Meeko also saw the buttons and after a nice pic with DF and I he pushed poor DF out of the way and proposed to me. It was so cute and since he's my favourite disney woodland creature I just had to say yes...DF was a bit miffed the rest of the day becuase I was won over by a racoon hahaha (I'll try to post pics later when I get home)

:thumbsup2

I have pictures of my son with Mary Poppins and Alice from last year. (My girls were being cranky and wouldn't take pics with either of them!). It's weird someone would say you couldn't. :confused3

My favorite character interaction happened over a week in 2006. We went to the MNSSP and at the parade my dd (3 1/2 at the time) was dressed like Jasmine right from the BBB. Well Jasmine walked up to her and slapped her five. Then Aladdin walked up and took her little face in his hands and kissed her forehead. You would have thought the world stopped when you looked at her. So for the rest of the week she would tell us that she was marrying Aladdin.

Well it gets better, on our last day, on our last ride the magic carpets, we saw Aladdin and Jasmin come out, so I took her over to get in line. The entire time in line she kept talking about the kiss, so I was a little worried about her interaction, because I knew it was not the same Aladdin. So I said to her Gianna, Aladdin may not remember all of that, it was a busy night. Next thing I know, I saw the handler go over and whisper something in Aladdin's ear. When it was her turn, Aladdin said to her "Gianna, there is my princess that I kissed during the parade". Still till this day I can remember her face, it was priceless. She just hugged him so tight, and big silly me cried like a baby.

I have several, but one all time favorite:

In October 2000, my middle son was just 3 years old and his favorite character was Jessie from Toy Story.

He wanted a Jessie costume for Halloween and we took it to WDW with us for a 10 day trip in late October. He wore the pants, shirt and red cowboy hat but no wig.

Early in the trip, he met Jessie at MGM and she knelt down to sign his autograph book and afterwards they hugged for at least 30 seconds, if not more, before he finally let go of her for a picture.

About a week later, we ate lunch at the old Wildhorse Saloon at Pleasure Island. Our DS had taken his costume and was dancing on the wooden floor and afterwards, we walked through the West Side and found a giftshop for the Wildhorse Saloon. We walked in and their were two CM's behind the counter and one shouts, "It's Jessie!". The other one insisted that it was Woody, but we confirmed that our son was indeed Jessie's and that Jessie was his favorite character. The one who had noticed it was Jessie ran into the back of the store and grabbed a picture of Jessie and some Jessie stickers for our son to show that she was her favorite character too. Our son was scared to death of this person giving him so much attention. She insisted on a picture with Jessie which we did, but we had to hold our son up to her as he was too shy/scared to be in the picture with this "stranger".

After the picture, she came over and whispered that she remembered our son from the previous week at MGM when she was in costume-- as Jessie, of course. I know she probably broke all kinds of rules by telling us that, but it sure made our trip!!

Here's one that can fall under a favorite interaction too:

The penguins are HILARIOUS! You can see that I'm LOLing in the photo at their antics, and Mary remains so calm and cool.

Sounds like some great stories. Here's my best...

Last year, on our last night the MK closed at 3AM. My nieces and nephew were getting ready to leave, but stayed in Fantasyland until closing. It was a good thing they did because Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy came out and played and took pictures. Also, the biggest thrill was that they rode the carousel with them. It was so incredible and the perfect way for them to end their vacation.

That is utterly bizarre. I have photopass and personal pics. taken with Mary Poppins. That photographer was either very misinformed or was pulling your leg for some odd reason.

That is bizarre, then. I do have plenty of photos I took with my camera, but the Photopass photographer seemed very certain that she wasn't allowed to. She said she could take Alice pictures, but not Mary.
Oh, well. No big loss. It's not as if we didn't get enough pictures on this trip.

PS: I would have just died to see those penguins! Great shot!

What a fun thread!

My favorite is from 1/08. My poor little guy was terrified of most of the attractions and characters with masks. He followed his big sisters all over MK and through every Princess thing possible. On the boat back to WL, I asked him who was is favorite character. He answered, "The Little Mermaid....she's got a great tail!"

Boys will be boys:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
