These boards have a For Sale/Trade Board (the name differs) where you have things (usually lower ticket items).

Some of these board have a fee that you need to pay for trading privilidges. Sometimes its coupons, rebate forms, clothes, health and beauty samples, or a nice freebie (ie a Mach 3 razor has been making the rounds)

I personally haven't had a lot of luck on those, so I basically have stopped doing it.

Thank you. I will check those out. And if anyone else has comments about them, I would love to hear the feedback.

I need some help from the experts here. I have an auction winner who is emailing me that her cookie jar is broken and wants me to replace it at my cost. I don't have another one to send her. This was one that I had just taking up space. I packaged this VERY WELL!!! Using styrofoam & bubble wrap & the Bubble bags. This wasn't a very expensive item (12.99) but she declined to purchase insurance on it. What should I do? I don't want a neg, but to be honest, I don't see how this could have arrived broken. It was secured & cushioned very well. What would you guys do? Thanks, Sandy

"I'm so sorry to hear that there is a problem with the cookie jar. Please return it with the original wrappings - in the original box - so that I might examine it and see if we can work out some sort of satisfactory resolution to this problem."

--------------------

That's what I would say.. How do you even know that it's broken?

Guess I am a hard nose in these types of situations. If they didn't purchase insurance; you are not responsible for it getting broken. I would tell the buyer, I am sorry that it arrived damaged but unfortunetly you did not purchase insurance and I can not be responbile for an item once it is left at the Post Office.

Yes - you can do PM to an APO address -you just have to hand-write it. They can't do DC because it gets delivered first to the military, then forwarded to the recipient or something along those lines. I believe you can insure it though. This was the person who gave me a negative, but also gave the other person a negative also that they bought from - I checked to make sure they were not bidding on anything right now - didn't want you to get slapped with one too.

I like www.mycoupons.com - I also love www.fishingfordeals.com. - they have very nice forums. MC can be a little 'uptight' sometimes. Don't mention either of those two boards on the other board - they hate each other!

Is there a maximum weight for mailing Media Mail? I sold 4 lots of Readers Digest Books to the same person & it is gonna weigh about 40 pounds. Can this go Media? Sandy

This is a wonderful tool - the way I have it set it will probably take you to Priority but just scroll up or down to the mail type you wish to view.

Domestic Rates - Simplified

Media Mail can go up to 70 pounds & lists the following:
Used for books, film, manuscripts, printed music, printed test materials, sound recordings, play scripts, printed educational charts, loose-leaf pages and binders consisting of medical information, videotapes, and computer recorded media such as CD-ROMs and diskettes. Media Mail cannot contain advertising.

The maximum size is 108 inches in combined length and distance around the thickest part.

Mark each package "Media Mail" in the postage area.

My son was really happy when he had to carry in the 56 pound box of books to the PO!!!

I just received my first spoof ebay email. Thankfully, I had read about these and didn't respond, but I wanted to let you guys know and remind the newbies to never reply to an email that appears to be from ebay requesting that you click a link to update your information or that requires you to put your password into the link in the email.;)

What does everyone suggest as far as requesting a day that the winning bidder pays by? Right now I am requesting 10 days but I'm considering 7 days. I only just started and I don't have anything that goes for huge amounts of money so I was thinking that 7 should give the buyers plenty of time. I only accept Paypal (no credit cards) and money orders or cashiers checks.

Thanks for your help:wave:

Personally, I would not say 10 days for paypal. I allow money orders and say 7 days. If they pay within 10 days, that is okay with me because I realize the mail can go awry. But I don't think there's any need for a delay with Paypal.

My TOS is 7 days for Paypal and 10 days for Money Order.

For me it is not that people wait until the end to pay (though it does bug the heck out me) it is that do not communicate their intentions. A payment on day 7 is not so bad when the person communicates "hi just wanted to let you know that I will be sending payment via (paypal money order) on Friday"

Here is my last swapped-book-shipping-error Negative :).

I was holding off on giving either buyer FB until I knew they were both taken care of. Once I found out that the other buyer was satisfied, I left him a positive FB. I did not leave the Negative buyer FB and will not in the future.

I logged into eBay today to look at a source of cheap envelopes and noticed my FB was higher and here's what I found:
"wrong item shipped, but seller went the extra mile to correct the problem."

Now, that's the kind of FB I work hand for! It also balances out the negative left by the other buyer. Now, I'll need to sell some more books to bury the negative off the first page :).

My auctions nearly ALWAYS pay thru the fee account - only one that hasn't is the books I sent last week - he was corresponding back and forth with me and I reminded of the two payment methods and he paid via avail funds! Yeah!.

I had that problem too. People were paying me with PayPal before I was even able to get an email out to them! I looked all over eBay for the setting with no success. I finally found it on PayPal. There is a setting to make a PayPal account be the default one on eBay. I removed the default, but I am not sure what to do. I will either leave no default of I will change the default to my fee-free account and direct credit card payments to the other account.

I'm sure once I get the hang of selling on ebay I'll be less frustrated but right now I feel like pulling out my hair:headache: Shipping costs keep getting me in trouble.

I need to find envelopes that are at least 12 X 12. Has anybody seen any this size - Office Max, Staples, Wal-Mart ... any place?

Another question too, can you only print out a delivery confirmation label for priority mail? I have something that is going first class.

Thanks for the help:wave:

But I don't think there's any need for a delay with Paypal.

If you accept credit cards that might be fine but for those that only accept transfers then you need to give them a few days to transfer money to their account. I won an auction last Wednesday and transferred money into my PayPal account on Friday but it was pending until today. I worked today so had no access to my account to send the money until tonight.

Do you have the money back PayPal debit card? If so that may have been one of the terms (making PayPal your preferred payment) in order to get the cash back on credit card purchases.

As for the envelope size, I usually use Priority mail envelopes, but I almost always use Priority mail, so that doesn't help you.

And if you use the Shipping Assistant, you can use dC for these: (I have personally used these, but there could be more:)

Media
First Class
Parcel
Media

and of course priority.

I have been charged .13 for the DC if it isn't priority. But sometimes I haven't been charged... some postal employees insist that all shipping assistant labels are free.. it all depends on who is working

The problem with that is, it has to be scanned to be put into the system. It won't do you any good to get it for free, if it doesn't let you know when it got there. Printing it on line only tells them you are due to mail it : (

To save yourself with Paypal, it has to be on your receipt..and if it's not being scanned, it's not on the receipt. There is no override, once ti's been scanned, so be sure to double check your receipt for the most protection.

I would suggest you have your postpeople ask their supervisor..to cover yourself.

I really think I'm losing my mind. I know now that you can print a label on-line for First Class because I followed up and read it. However, I can't find where to do it at. All I can find is the page that says this:

Your shipping label is just a Click-N-Ship™ away.

Please Read: A one-time software download is required to print a label. See System Requirements.

Shipping label with postage (Registration Needed)
Print an Express Mail® or Priority Mail® label.

Shipping label without postage
Print an Express Mail or Priority Mail label.

International label with or without postage
Print a Global Express Guaranteed™ or Global Express Mail™ label.

I got so frustrated with looking for it that I quit and am now eating Milk Chocolate frosting from the package! No cookies, no cake ... just frosting!

I am only charged half the time and I am always able to see when it arrives.

You must download the shipping assistant. Look a few pages back for a link to the download.
