I sent a package Priority Mail and Wednesday with a Delivery confirmation. When I go to look up the tracking number on the USPS website is says no record of this number found. I hope they delivered it and it didn't get scanned.

If they did deliver it (hopefully your buyer leaves feedback so you'll know) then you can go to the USPS website and fill out a form to get your DC money back.

I will do that when I get feedback that she received it. This is the second time this has happened to me.

Also are most of the addresses you all ship to confirmed. I was looking through my print outs and so far only 2 have been confirmed addresses. Is that unusual?

Does ebay seem slower than death to anybody else this weekend?

I haven't had any issues with other sites, but doing research on ebay has been taking unusually long - searches take 2 - 3 minutes to complete, at least!

It's making me wonder if my potential bidders are having trouble getting to my items!

Ya'll wouldn't believe the estate sale I hit yesterday. It was insane - it was like a house frozen it time. There was brand new stuff from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's that had never been opened/used. 3 room finished basement all full of stuff; living room, dining room and kitchen all full of stuff; 5 bedrooms all full of stuff and a huge attic all full of stuff! It seemed like people had been living there until recently but they just up and left everything. STRANGE!!

I spent about $15 and got tons of stuff and I'm really tempted to go back before close today. There's really just layer upon layer of "stuff" that you could probably dig for weeks and keep finding treasures. It opened Friday - I would have loved to seen the good stuff that went then! I got tons of Dungeons & Dragons books for 25 cents each - they're good sellers too! Anywhere from $2-10!

Forgot to mention before - thanks to this thread I purchased a Jell-O ad from 1919 that I normally would have overlooked. Of course, I'm very tempted to frame it and hang it in our kitchen because it's so darn cute! But I'm gonna list it and see how it goes. If it doesn't sell, it's mine! Bwahahaha!

Hi All,

I've been lurking here for about 3 months now and have used (and abused) all of the information you all have so graciously posted.

To date I have paid for my airline tickets and food via EBay sales, thank you all very much.

With that said, it's time to give something back.

I have noticed under the new EBay auction format, you do not get a picture next to the "Starting price:" unless you use EBay's IPix. I host all of my own pictures and wanted to have my picture there also. I wrote to BaconButtie for assistance. He kindly sent me a first draft script to add the picture. I refined the script a bit and tested it against the US EBay site and it now works great. I am told that EBay will be allowing us a way to have our pictures in this lication sometime in August, until then this will work.

I mentioned a few pages back that I have been c&p-ing all of the really specific tips from this thread over the past few weeks into a Word document, and I am now cleaning it up into something sort of coherent and cohesive. I'll be including the above, and if anyone lurking out there has hesitated to post their tips and hints, please don't hold back. This thread has certainly been great for me, and obviously for many others.

Ok I'm ready to scream!!! My computer crashed last night and I had 3 auctions up tonight When it would let me do anything without the blue screen of death I noticed I had three ?'s on auctions and it wouldn't let me read them!! So now 6 calls and 12 hours later I can finally read my emails only to find out that one of the ?'s was from a person in Japan wondering if I would ship since I couldn't reply to them they bought my item . So now what? I checked on shipping and it's
$26.25 economy surface 4-6wks
$40.10 Airmail Parcel Post 4-10 days
$43.35 global express 3-5 days
So now what I don't want to tell them no since It's my fault I couldn't reply (by the way the package weighs 6.5#)
They said that they would pay with Paypal.
Any suggestions? HELP!!
I HATE COMPUTERS!!!!(not really I couldn't get to the Dis if I didn't have it and life would be soooo dull ).

I decided I'll go through with the sale to the person from Japan now what do I do?? I tried to print out a label with the shipping assistant and it doesn't have Japan or Air Mail Parcel Post(go figure apparently they're not in the US ) so now how do I label them? Do I have to fill out customs forms?? Anything else that I need to do?? Anyone want to come up to WI and help me with this?? I don't mind shipping internationally but this is my first time once I get this one done I'm sure it'll be smooth sailing.

I noticed on paypal that I have a limit per month on the amount I withdraw and tranfer to my account. There is an option to lift this limit but it wants me to confirm my SS# to do so. Has anyone done this? Is it safe?

I just noticed that an item I had up for bid is no longer there. It is a cane with a sword inside it. (there are others like it) When I went to check my counter, it was gone. I tried bringing it up via the item # but it comes up invalid. Is this common? I didn't even get an email from Ebay regarding the problem. I had a few bids on it too....

You will need a customs form since you are shipping outside of the US. You will have to fill in a description of the item and its value. If you take the package to your local PO they should be able to help you ship. You may also want to include an invoice in the package in case customs opens it to check the value.

(On a side note: Please don't overinflate the value of the item. The value listed should be the same as what the person paid. The only reason I mention this is because I've had sellers overinflate value for insurance reasons and then the buyer gets stuck overpaying duty/taxes. I bought some pins from one person and they cost me under $10. The person listed the value as $50. I ended up having to pay a large fee because of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against having to pay duty or customs-it is a part of international trading. I just don't like paying it when it is for the wrong amount.)

Who knows? They took down my auction of a dagger and a few days later I got an email saying it was copyrighted! Well thats news to me since there are NO identifiable marks on the dagger, no company name on the box either...so how in the world could they know????? I looked and there are many similar auctions with VERY VERY similar daggers yet they took mine down...who knows why?? I wish they elaborated on the reasoning or saud WHO this dagger was copyrighted to.

Ohh-good luck on those. My DH listed about 6 of his old D&D hardcover books and was shocked when they got up to about $90!

You should pick up your package with your eBay auciton sheet in hand. If you show it to the custom officers, they have always in the past for others lowered the fee to the correct amount. Also, I seldom insure anything going overseas, because you can't use letter airmail, and the cost goes up to way too much.

You don't pick up parcels from customs. You retrieve them from the post office and if duty is owed you pay through the PO. In order to have it investigated you have to fill out forms and mail them in to Canada Customs showing the actual value. The postal clerks can't do anything. It is lengthy process.

This is going to be a tough week I can already tell, although bids seem to be picking up and this is great.

I got a call yesterday from my grandmother who said my grandfather (92) was in the hospital. She got a call at 4:30 am requesting permission to put in on a ventilator and they did not fully explain to her that this is basically life support. Now she is faced with the decision of taking him off the ventilator. Its so hard because she is in Florida by herself - her one son won't make it there for a couple of days and my dad hasn't made the decision to go yet.

I had several things to get in the mail today and one didn't make it. It will have to go tomorrow. I'm trying to keep everything caught up in case I have to make a trip to Florida soon - which at this point seems very likely.
