How do you pull the contact info? TIA!!

In your "My eBay" list of items sold, you'll have the option to send a payment reminder after 3 days have passed. Clicking on the payment reminder icon gives you a link to the non-paying bidder policy info.

Here's the link to the non-paying bidder policy info

This page includes, among other info, a link to obtaining contact info. You must be in a transaction with the other person to get this info - eBay sends you both a message listing your respective phone numbers, plus I think City and state (I haven't needed to do this in a while). Because your high bidder will get the email saying you've requested the contact info, they often get moving, and you can certainly call.

Doris, thanks for the update on eBay and the BB watch script. I think that was enough to push me over the edge of not wanting to mess around with it anymore.

thanks for the suggestions of either using or not using the credit card. this whole thing is fascinating!!!

New thought (for me anyway).

How many people use a separate email address just for ebay? I am beginning to fear losing stuff and accidentally deleting it from my junk mail. And if you do use a separate one for ebay, do you use the same one for paypal if you also use paypal?

All opinions/suggestions wanted!

Thanks.

I have two main emails. One is my general email, the other if for ebay, paypal and any other place I think I will get a lot of spam from. So I guess I "kinda" have a seperate email for ebay and paypal, since i only use it for ebay and paypal and then for online "sign-ups" that ask for email addy.

I have one I use for yahoo, fun stuff, and sign ups...and as my second Paypal addy. Another I use just for "junk" sign ups..free samples, etc. And one Ii use for my business and eBay and Paypal. That one gets almost no junk mail. I use the same addy for eBay as Paypal, since I found when I didn't, people sent my Paypal money to my eBay addy anyway. Caused some confusion.

When you use a flat rate and at end of auction, find that your s/h rate is much higher than it is to ship the package, do you refund the buyer some $$. I did that once. I forget how much I charged for s/h, but when it came to ship the package, the amount was much less than I figured, so I felt bad and refunded some $$. Now I find myself in the same position again. I charged a $10.00 s/h fee and the winner doesn't live that far from me, so the actual shipping rate is 6.00. Isn't that too much to for me to keep. Should I refund any $$ and if you think so, how much...TIA

Denise

What if any thing can I do about this (I think I know the answer):

Bought something on ebay. Paid for it through PayPal. The amount included $2.00 for shipping and $1.20 for insurance. When the pkg. arrived, it only cost .60 to ship and insurance was not purchased. Now I can understand a handling fee, but IMO I think $1.40 is a little high and I'm upset that I paid for insurance and they never purchased it.

Is there anything I can do?

TIA

Well...I don't think you can do anything about the shipping cost, as by paying it you agreed to it. As far as the insurance goes, maybe you could email your seller, tell them that they did not purchase the insurance that you had paid for.....would they kindly refund the $1.20 that was not spent???? Just my thoughts....I'm sure you'll get plenty of other takes on this....

Thanks claudia. I really didn't think there was much I could do about it. Just made me mad!

Here's another question: Someone bought something of mine off ebay on Oct. 5th. They paid right away through PayPal. However they didn't pay the right amount. I e-mailed them right away letting them know they didn't pay the correct amount and what the additional was. I have since then e-mailed them about 6 times and have filed NPB(10/22) and still have gotten no response. How do I go about refunding the amount they have already paid?

Again, TIA

You can send a refund to the buyer using the "refund" link next to the transaction in your PayPal account. This has to be within 30 days of the transactions so you have no time to spare.

The full amount will be refunded to the buyer and you will not be charged any PayPal fees for the initial transaction nor for the refund as long as it is done within those first 30 days and you use the "refund" link.

You may not know that they purchased insurance..they may use one of the online postage companies, and that doesn't show up. Or they may self-insure, and if your item had gotten broken or went mia, they would have replaced it. Was the s/h listed in the description? If so, than your bid should have been based on what the item was going for with the toal price on eBay..and if others were selling the same item for about what you paid, or more, than you still got a good deal. I try to make my decision based on the "full" price of an item. If ebayer 1 is selling a blouse for $6.00 and .50 shipping, and ebayer 2 too has it going for $2.00 and $3.00 shipping, I go with ebayer 2, for the most savings for my money. Even if I find they overcharged me shipping/handling, I realize I still did better. Although I think the handling is a lot compared to the shipping costs, it's well within eBay's allotment. For all we know, this gal has to drive 50 miles round trip to get to the post office, or pay someone to go, or pay someone to pack her items..and she's allowed "reasonable" handling charges..and eBay would consider those reasonable.

Okay, I just have to ask this. What kind of search were you doing that brought this up? Did you see that this person has many other things up for auction?

As for the insurance--it doesn't hurt to ask. Email your seller and ask if they placed insurance on it--if not then ask for a refund. Sometimes when you mail out many items at a time it's easy to forget the insurance. I personally, put sticky tabs on my packages with total shipping amounts and if they want insurance so that I give my packages to the PO I know which one needs the insurance.

As for handling charges: I charge the customer the exact shipping costs and add in a small handling fee because I live about 16 miles round trip from my PO. I have a SUV and that round trip costs me about a gallon of gas--I don't think that it's unreasonable. Here is how I determine handling charges and they are posted right in my auction description:

My Handling Fees

$00.01 - $20.00 = $1.00

$21.00 - $40.00 = $1.50

$41.00 - $60.00 = $2.00

$61.00 - $80.00 = $2.50

$81.00 - $100.00 = $3.00

OVER $100.00 = Please request amount

Also, not sure if this has been posted or not but I find this VERY handy! If you go to USPS.com you can order all the free Priority Mail boxes/bags/supplies that you need. It is then shipped to you within 7 mailing days FREE OF CHARGE!!! On their website you can also click on the Print Shipping Labels and print out shipping labels and get FREE Delivery Confirmation--postage can also be printed if you know the weight of your package and can be deducted right from your Paypal account and you can get your cash-back bonus that way also!! The labels look very neat and professional. Check it out!

I've been selling/buying on eBay since 1999, not for Disney purposes, though, but so I can be a stay-at-home mom. (Feel free to check out any of my auctions--my user ID is ebeaulier) Both my kids are now in school but I like being here when they get home so I've started a little business and for set fees I eBay items for other people--it's been working out great!

If anyone has questions please feel free to email me--I love to help out!

YIKES!!! So much for "in sickness and in HEALTH!"

Jerk! Hell hath no fury!
:p

I have a question. A buyer has asked if I have more than one of an item I have up for auction. (The auction only lists one item.) I do happen to have another that I was going to list later - I didn't want them competing with each other so I didn't list them at teh same time. So what can I do if she wants both of them?

Should I change the auction to be for 2 of them? Should I immediately list the other one? Should I just tell her I would send her the second one if she wins? Would I charge her the same for the second one??? I don't know what to do.

This is an item that I am even surprised it has interest on (she emailed me within a couple hours of listing it!). I listed it for $1.50 hoping it would even sell for that amount. It is a handprint kit I got free from Hallmark for purchasing 3 cards! You know, those plaster kits you stick the kids hands in. I thought maybe someone could use it for a Christmas gift for Grandma or something. Anyway, my point is that I am willing to just send her the second one and not list it.

What would you do?

Maggie

So what can I do if she wants both of them?

Tell her once she purchases the first one, she is now a "previous" client. Then tell her previous clients can always buy direct. Or just tell her sure..to remind you when the auction ends.

The second one was not on eBay and you have no obligation to them. I sell something I always have duplicates of, and I often sell anywhere from one extra, to several. eBay tried to make that a "rule"..that you could never sell anything private that was ever up on eBay, but it didn't fly. You own, you sell it.
