NEED HELP/ADVICE QUICK!!!!

I just got a notice from E-bay about a bid cancellation. I went to the items page to check on it and it was an administrative cancel by E-bay. Here is my problem. The item had been bid up to $32.50. This cancellation brought it down to $20.50. It has been at the $32.50 mark for 3 days. Ebay did this with a little over an hr. left on the auction. Now there is less than an hr. left and I know that anyone who's looked at in the last 3 days won't go back to look at now, because they won't know the bid is lower. Is there anything I can do about this now? Please let me know. The auction ends in like 50 mins. Thanks all.

You could always cancel the bids and relist it. That is my only suggestion. Those same people might not bid on it again, though. Why would ebay cancel a bid?

Wow, poohber25, that is really unfortunate! I wonder if the high bidder that got cancelled was NARU'd for getting NPBs? While I suspect this isn't the answer you are looking for, I think all you can do at this point is look on the bright side that at least the person cancelled won't get a chance to fail to pay you, too, and hopefully whoever does win will be a good, fast-paying buyer!

Plus, there may be people watching who may check on the item this last hour and go ahead and bid... I'll cross my fingers for you! Please let us know how it works out.

Hi, after reading this post. I am getting ready to start this whole ebay thing.

I just have a question about the wooden train stuff that I want to list.

I have about 180 pieces including buildings, trains, tracks, risers etc.

Is is better to list as groups or individual? Buildings I think would do fine on thier own, trains I would group together, but the tracks and risers, I am not sure about. I dont know if I should to the same style grouped together or mix it up some. What is you opinion? Any advise would greatly be appreciated. Any ideas on starting prices? I dont want to give the stuff away, but it is just sitting here in boxes....if you know what I mean!

I have all this train stuff and would love to get rid of it.

I am hoping to get started this week.

Thank you for your help.

I got this email and I don't know hat it means or what to do. Can somebody please help! There is 5 hours left on the auction. I was hoping soembody would bid higher and then I wouldn't have to deal with this, but so far nothing. So, what does this mean?

COLOR=crimson]i made an accident in bidding on this item, i think i just barely outbid someone else and i feel bad that i outbid them accidentaly... can you reverse my bid?[/COLOR]

Seems weird doesn't it? Why would you bid on an item if you didn't intend to outbid someone? I'm very confused/
Thanks!

I believe that according to ebay rules that you do have the option to cancel the bid if you want....if I'm wrong, I am sure that someone else will let us know....
It does sound strange....did this person only place one bid? Are they new to ebay?
Probably the best thing for you to do would be to cancel the bid and block the person from bidding on any future auctions of yours. I am only suggesting this because it sounds like trouble and you may do better to get your auction finished and paid by going with the next highest bidder.

Is this a generic or name brand set? Was this an orginal set purchased at one time, or a set that was added onto over time? Are all the pieces in the same condition? Are the pieces relatively new, or are these antique? Are there "specialty" pieces or items that are unique?

I have had people retract bids for "bidding too high". I think they get a quick case of buyers remorse. It is very, very frustrating. I too would like to know if there is something you can do about this practice. I hate it when you see your item go up then come back down.

Claudia -

The set was bought over a length of time starting about 4 years ago. It is a Thomas the Train set.

The pieces are in excellent shape, barely ever used. The trains have the most wear on them, as my son played with them on the floor mostly.

I believe that some of the buildings are no longer available. I do know that all the track I have is the clickity clack track that is no longer available. They changed the style.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Well, fortunately, my item ended up closing at $28.99. I would have been very angry if it had closed at $20.50. The reason I didn't think any "watchers" would come back is back $32.50 is the highest I have ever sold this item. I had a BIN of $30 on it, so I'm happy with what I got, but I wouldn't have been happy if it hadn't been resolved. The buyer that e-bay cancelled the bid was NARU'd, but he didn't have any neg. FB, so I'm not sure that NPB's were the problem.

Tamie,
Since you mention that the track is no longer made/style has changed, you could list the track with the trains that may be in worn condition, or are not main character trains that you think may not sell on their own.
I think that the main character trains might do well on their own listing.
Any item that you think is no longer made/discontinued (trains/buildings) you could also list alone....that may be great for a collector.

Another option would be:
Do you still have any of the orginal boxes that any of the pieces/sets came in?? Complete sets can be very appealing for the new collector. Christmas/Holiday shopping will be beginning soon, a complete set may be very appealing to some buyers for their holiday gift giving.

Besides checking ebay for current and past listings/prices, use search engines to see if you can find prices on discontinued items, etc.
No matter how you choose to list this, I think Thomas the Train is a great toy and very desirable....again, with the holiday season coming up so fast, I think you will do well with them however you choose to list.

I have another questions for all of you with great advise.

I have a paypal account set up for the stuff that I buy off Ebay. Do I have do change anything?

I have listed two items on ebay already. Still kinda of nervous though.

Thank you for your help.

Well it depends. Do you plan to / want to accept credit card payments (including check/debit cards)? If so you need to upgrade to a premier account. If you do not want to deal with credit cards (and the assossicated fees) then no you do not have to do anything.

I have been lurking around here and finally jumped in the Ebay waters!! Wow! In a little over a month I have over $400 in my Paypal account !!!! I have been rumaging around the house for things to sell!

I start to get antsy if I only have a few things up for auction! The only problem I've had is figuring out what shipping would be. Sometimes I have lost money on this.

We are going to WDW in Dec. and this money is gooing to be real handy.

Thank you all for the tips and to anyone who has yet to try this----do it--its fun and you'll make money and clear out your house! LOL!

I started too!!!! If I could stop myself from buying I might make some money...lol

I am still kicking myself for not buying some DCL stuff that was on clearance when I was on board in Jan. I had a few Carnival items that I am selling but I am almost out of Disney stuff. It sells so good :D I wish we still had a outlet store around us but the closest is in Alabama. It's a short 8 hour trip :(
I am actually thinking of buying things to sell.....have I lost my mind?? yea, I have!

I have had some things sell for WAY more than I anticipated (like a NWT Children's Place shirt I paid $1.25 sold for $14.99) but some other stuff that always sold great in the past--I sold nothing. I listed lots of boy's clothing last week, the auctions ended Sunday nite--everything sold except for the stuff that was size 4 or 4T. Those sized used to sell the best???

Do most of you relist or just donate the items? Nothing is 'spectacular", just some Gymboree, Carter's & Kitestrings clothes-fall & winter stuff I am thinking of relisting but not sure if it will be worthwhile. Maybe I'll wait a week or so.

Also-can someone briefly explain TurboLister? Do I get this from eBay directly or another site? I've been on eBay (buying and selling) since 11/98 and this thread proves you can teach an old dog new tricks-lol!

Whew...I was begining to think I was jinxed...no sales in weeks! But a few bids this week...nothing earth shattering but stil....at least it is something.

welovedis - Turbolister is downloaded from Ebay. Go to their services pages and do a Search for turbolister. That's ho I found it and downloaded it.

I would relist at least the Gymboree and Kitestrings. I haven't had to much luck with Carter's unless they are NWT.

MommyPoppins-thanks, I'm on my way to check it out. I assume it helps with the actual listing of the auctions? That would be great! :)

I think I will wait a few weeks and relist-hopefully I will have more to add to those auction as I am cleaning out my son's closet and dressers (again!).

Does anyone have information on Multiple Fixed Price Auctions? My family thinks I am nuts (but whats new on that front), but I am considering trying to sell candy bars for my DD & DS (It's a fundraiser for their school) on Ebay. But I can't make heads or tails of the insertion fees info on this type of auction. If I list 100 boxes of candy, to I pay insertion fees for 100 items? I figure the FVF will be for each item. Also, If I do decide to do this, what would your recommendations be: Sell these by the box $1.00 x 40 candy bars=$40.00 or sell them individually (These are Kit Kat's, Hershey bars, Caramello's & Reeses Peanut Butter cups). Any help & advice will be greatly appreciated. BTW, you guys don't think I'm nuts too, DO YOU??????
