She paid me again today! Must be nice to be so free with your $$ and not realize you've paid for something FOUR TIMES!!! I shipped her package yesterday via Priority, maybe she'll stop paying me once she gets it in the mail

Some people!

She is really lucky that she is dealing with someone honest. Another not so honest seller, could of made a big profit. Now if only we could all have so much money we don't keep track of it, I guess we wouldn't be here on the budget board- ebaying our way to disney.

I think some of the problem w/ Carters clothes not selling is possibly due to the fact they put out a line of clothing in Walmart now. Just a guess. I have noticed though, that unless it's a pricey namebrand, it doesn't sell.

Someone won an auction of mine last week. I sent numerous e-mails and no response. The last day for me to accept payment is tomorrow. I have no problem at all waiting to get paid as long as the winner just lets me know. Heck, the wallet I sold was in my closet for so long, that at extra few days of waiting for payment is no big deal for me. I understand things happen, kids, troubles etc. I just checked her feedback. I swear this wasn't on her feedback before, but maybe I'm getting senile, so maybe it was & I just didn't notice, BUT, she has a total of 3 feedbacks, 2 negatives. One seller said in the feedback, that this buyer buys wallets with no funds. Now believe me I hate to do a negative. As a matter I never did one. I really only had 1 time to post a negative and I didn't, I just didn't leave any feedback at all. Should I just e mail her one more time and if I hear nothing from her, then I'll leave a feedback? Now if she has 2 negatives from diff. sellers, would my neg. feedback get her kicked off of ebay. I would hate to be responsable for someone getting kicked off, but I think that if I file a NPB report I'd get my fees back, is this right? What the heck should I do. The wallet was getting alot of bids, and wouldn't you know with my luck, she was the one to win it. Give me advise please(again).

Has anybody else had this happen and what do you do about it?

I had a buyer win several of my auctions. She paid promptly and I sent her parcel. She has contacted me several times about the package not arriving. It didn't have insurance on it so there wasn't a delivery confirmation (I have since learned to add insurance on everything I can! ). Anyway, I suggested she check at the post office in case it was sitting there and the card stating she had a package had been lost somewhere along the way. Yesterday I got another e-mail from her asking me weight, address I shipped to, etc and that she was finally going to the post office to check. Well today I received her parcel back in the mail with "unclaimed" on it. I am about to e-mail her to tell her this but am wondering what to do about it? Should I offer to split the shipping costs to send it again? Tell her she'll have to pay shipping again and if she thinks she has a gripe with the post office to try and get her money back from them? She may decide that she wants her money back and how do I do that with ebay? The auctions ended around the 11th of August.
TIA

Vicky

Thanks for letting me know that, I didn't know about the WalMart connection at all. What I don't get is that Gymbo & Kitestrings normally sell pretty good for me, but didn't this time so who knows? Maybe I just hit a bad week. I have decided to wait a week or 2 and relist. Thanks for the advice.

I can't figure out where the heck I was when the Turbo Lister boat went by-lol! That program seems like a huge time-saver! :)

dg39, remember that all the negative feedback in the world will not get her kicked off eBay - it is the filing for the FVFs that does the trick. So, whether or not you choose to leave the FB, do go ahead with your NPB process - that is the really critical piece of making sure bidders like this are stopped.
If you had quite a few bids on the wallet, I'd advise you to make a 2nd chance offer to the 2nd highest bidder once you have the all clear to do so. I guess the all clear will be either when you see that this bidder becomes "NARU", or after the FVF request is filed. Good luck!

I need to send an item to an APO address (I guess she is in Korea). The post office lady told me I had to fill out a customs form. On the form it asks for "Item Value". Do I put what I sold the item for on eBay or what it would cost to replace the item?? Also, do I have to pay an extra fee based on cost?? The Post office lady said there was no extra fee, but I remember reading somewhere on this thread about people marking down "Gift" so that they didn't have to pay the extra fee.

Thanks,
Maggie

Maggie, you should quote the price that the item sold for, and the fee people have mentioned is the customs fee or import tariff the receiver has to pay. If the item is a gift, they don't pay, but if it is a purchase they do, based on the value stated. But you don't pay anything (toward that, anyway), you just need to state the truth on the form you complete.

Does anyone know if there are any extra forms to fill out for shipping to Puerto Rico? Also does anyone know if insurance would be the same as shipping to the US($1.30 if under $50)? I seem to rember that when I mailed a package to Japan that insurance either wasn't a option or it was way to expensive. Also can I use DC for Puerto Rico?
Thanks for the information.

Gee whiz people..you were suppose to wait to post until I got back from Disney..look at all the pages I have to read to catch up now! Had a great time, and will eventually post about the DTD Marriot and our trip (rain free I might add..awesome weather all week..so glad we went this week!!!) on the trip board.

I know Doris (DMRick) is wary of using it, and I respect her concerns, particularly where her eBay business is her livelihood.

Trust me..I could care less what goes on between ebay and bacon..however, it's not fun when eBay cancels auctions. They disappear from the face of the earth and have to be reincarnated. Bidders aren't happy when that happens either. So my reason for posting about what was going on between them, was more a warning to the users..that it may cost you more in time if ebay cancels your aucitons, or suspends you for using the html script.

I figure that hiden or not, if ebay doesn't want something on the auction page, then I'll just have to go along with what they want..after all they do own the page.

It's up to each individual if they want to take a chance on all their auctions being cancelled..ebay did warn us : )

I also found that auctions being watched had no correlation to items being sold for me..so it was no biggy for me to remove bacon from the aucitons..no loss in other words. Might save me time in the long run if ebay continues to cancel auctions as they have been.

If I list 100 boxes of candy, to I pay insertion fees for 100 items?

You'll pay insertion fees on the total. For instance, if you are selling the bars for $1, and you have 100 of them, you'll pay $2.20 to list them. Of course the end of auction fee is on each...so it would be about .05.

Be careful about mentioning that this is a fund raiser..ebay has rules for charity auctions.

Just an aside..I'm not sure how much chocolate you would sell on eBay..when the people could buy them cheaper locally and not pay shipping, or worry about melting.

UGH!! One of my NPB left a neg. feedback saying they never got an invoice and that I never replied to their (ONE) email. All of which is Bull!! I have copies of all the invoices I sent and the reply as well as reminder email I sent (aside from ebay). Turns out the email they sent me was from a different email address then they have on their ebay account. UGH!! All this for a $0.49 cordless phone.

Hope you had a great time on your trip.. SOOOO glad to hear you had nice weather and NO rain!! That is awesome! :)
--------------------

Well gang, it's a bit after 4 a.m. here and I just woke up with a blasting headache and a horrible backache.. Don't know what's up with that - although I did go to bed around 9:30 because I had a terrible stomach ache and in general, was feeling lousy all day long.. I hope I feel better as the day wears on because I have to take my DH to the doctors at the VA this afternoon.. That's a tough chore in itself.. Pushing him in that wheelchair is not an easy task when you consider I weigh just barely 100 lbs. and he weighs at least two and a half times what I do.. :(

-----------------

Anyhow - as you all know, I kind of took a break from this thread for a few days - as well as from eBay - after all that nonsense I went thru last week.. Can't say things are much better this week.. My auctions had a pathetic ending to them and today I received the most HOSTILE email from a buyer who received an item yesterday and today decided she wasn't happy with it.. I have no problem with refunding if a customer has a legitimate complaint but this person was clearly out of line and I really didn't appreciate being yelled at, insulted, and lectured.. Somehow I managed to remain calm, polite, and professional - which I think only served to anger this person further.. After the 3rd email from her I offered a full refund - including the shipping charges - (once the item was returned to me) and I've not heard anything since.. Somehow I get the feeling that she wanted a full refund WITHOUT returning the item and that just isn't going to happen.. There is nothing wrong with the item and I could easily relist and resell so as far as I'm concerned, "no return of item, NO refund.." I may end up with a neg because of this but quite frankly, I don't even care at this point in time..
------------------------

Sooooo..how did everyone else do this past week? Were your sales up or down? Hopefully you all did well.. :)
-----------------

I guess I'm just in a lousy mood lately so please disregard my rantings and ravings.. I'm sure that things will get better and soon I'll be praising the rewards of eBaying again - but for now anyhow, can you guys "carry the ball" for me? I'd really appreciate that because between my "real" life and my "eBay life" my enthusiasm for anything and everything is at an all-time low right now..

Thanks!
C.Ann

Hi everyone
Last week was lousy here too. I think I had to relist every item I had because no one bid. I shipped my last winning auctions yesterday. BTW-I just love printing shipping labels at USPS. What a time saver at the PO! Thanks for the tip.

Do you relist more than once? I've relisted a few things over this past dreadful week - lowering starting bids and BIN. I wonder if after the 2nd attempt, is it worth it, to try a third time? Or at that point it's a donation. I'm also trying to add at least one new item each day, but without a digital camera and having to rely on a scanner, I'm limited on what I can list with photos.

The same is true of the dept store where I work - Back to school season ended and it is my guess that folks are saving for holiday purchases now. I'm hoping things pick up at work as well as with ebay. I wish I had the capital to buy a lot of the clearance, but is anyone buying summer clothing on ebay?

the motherlode box of TV, Radio and Electronics magazines from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Keep in mind, that if these magazines still have their ads in them..be sure to show some of them in the photos, and tell people (I noticed that often at garage sales, the ads have been removed). You also may want to consider taking the mags apart and selling just the ads..you may realize much more money by doing that.

DMRick- I read that you quit your job, is that because you were doing so well on ebay?

Didn't quit..my job moved several hours away, so my employer (State of NY) offered to retrain me. I took them up on the offer, and now run a Desk Top Publishing business from my home. My hubby retired, and is my partner now (and he LIKES doing all the stuff I hate...my packing and shipping, laminating, website master, etc.).

I do count on eBay for a large percent of my income..which is gotten from the end of September to the end of January for the most part.

How do I delete one of my auctions? Somehow when I was using Turbolister, I got one auction listed 2 times. Thanks!

At the bottom of the "my ebay" page there is a list of managing buttons. One of them is to end the auction early. I think you still have to pay the insertion fees, though. You need the item number when you go into this screen.

I use USPS but sometimes the shipping is outrageous! With winter coming I was thinking of using Fed Ex because most clothes will be quite heavy. Can anyone who has used both compare the prices for me and give pros and cons......thanks Jon

I've been selling a lot of items with insurance being optional. No one has taken the insurance. I was worried about sending the items out without insurance so I paid for it myself. I was wondering what do other sellers do when the buyer declines insurance? If I knew in advance that the item would sell for a high price I would just include the insurance in the shipping and handling fees, but I don't always know in advance what the item will sell for. One item I started at $1.99 ended up at $87.00, way beyond my expectations!
