Yes, I am obsessive about checking my auctions. No, I'm not obsessive about checking for emails afterward, though, because I know that people respond at their own pace. I also realize that the item I have a concern about is probably not the one that will be an issue - you'd need a crystal ball to figure that out.

I get the impression from your postings that you are very meticulous, and more than likely you have packed everything with care and in a way that you'd want to receive it. If that is the case, relax! You'll be fine. And if there is a wacko out there who is going to cause any difficulty in your eBay life, you'll more then likely be completely blindsided by it.

But think positive! You've already seen a few positive responses, and I'll bet you'll get a bunch more.
Yeah, speaking of being blindsided! I just received an email from a lady who bought an auction on July 27th. It was for a Lion King clock & 2 movies. She said she wanted to let me know that the clock didn't work and she just thought that she would let me know before she left Neg feedback. Now, that is almost 2 months ago! Why didn't she write sooner? I have no idea! The clock was working when I took it off my son's wall before I listed it! I advised her to check the battery & the battery connections. I don't understand people sometimes!

Oooh, Sandy, that stinks! That's exactly what I mean. These must be the people who returned gross shoes to K-Mart after wearing them for 2 months, when I worked there 20 years ago!

Well, I'm happy to see your tink costume, though! Looks like that will end quite nicely!

Oh yes, Tink! I am soo happy that I blocked that bidder! I honestly didn't think it would go for this much! But I am having a wonderful day! Now, If everyone would just pay me & send me their address so that I could get everything ready for the Post Office tomorrow! LOL I can honestly say I have never had soo much fun Ebaying! Sandy

I am running a desktop with Windows XP. I downloaded the plugin from USPS which lets you print online labels for Priority mail;

no, every time my browser encounters a java object, anywhere--not just USPS -- a java console opens up with a script debugger and won't close unless I reboot. I usually can't shut it off even in Task Manager. It's driving me nuts.

Anyone have this happen to them?
Find anyway to disable the script debugger window?

thanks,
Erin Cox-Holmes

ooops--sorry folks--i intended to post this under the EBAY thread, and hit "new thread" by mistake. The program won't let me delete it now. Sorry about this....

Erin, click on your "Tools" tab, then choose "Internet Options" when the box comes up, click on the "Advanced" tab. If you'll click the little box next to where it says "disable script debugging" that should do it. It's the sixth little box down. I have XP and mine is checked and I don't have any problems.

Can you put the drum in the case then put the case in a big box, cushion it well and let her fly!

I don't suppose you have tried your "help" fiile or Microsoft's web site's tech net. The answer should be there. Another thing you can do is remove the USPS program. Or, go to Tools, click on Internet options, go to advanced, part way down the page there is a Java consule box, if it is checked, uncheck it.

Does anyone have an excell spreadsheet file that they might be able to share with me. I am not all that savvy with Excel and could really use it to keep up with fees & stuff. Thanks, Sandy

Teacher is angry.... Very, very angry...

Teacher is frustrated... Very, very frustrated...

Teacher is unhappy... Very, very unhappy...

Teacher does not like eBay today... And may not like it tomorrow either...

Teacher is going to feed herself to big black bear she had encounter with last weekend.. (Search out my "bear" post on the CB..) Bears are nicer - and more intelligent - than buyers..
--------------------------------------------------
------------------------------

Just let me vent here - and then you can all get back to business as usual...

When I first started ebaying, it was very important to me to earn a good reputation as a seller and to be as nice to my customers as humanly possible.. I thought if I played nice, they would play nice... Now - I just want to get PAID !!!!!

I mean - is that asking too much? For people to actually pay for the auctions they win - without me having to send umpteen invoices, emails, reminders, etc.??

I have spent the better part of today trying to PRY payments out of people from as far back as the last week of August! They don't even respond until I tell them I'm filing an NPB the next day and then they have the nerve to lecture me - like I'm the one who is in the wrong!!

One guy finally coughed up the money via Paypal at 5:30 this afternoon (two weeks and many, many emails after the auction ended) and a few minutes ago I got an email from him wanting to know if I had shipped the item yet!!!!! Whatever he's smoking, I want some of it.. Heck - I want a lot of it !!

Then I get a check in the mail today - drawn on a bank in Thailand!! I emailed this guy and told him I don't ship outside the US under any circumstances - but did he listen?? No...

I sold a travel book and was about to get it ready for shipping tonight.. Nice, easy transaction - right? Wrong!! DH moved it and I spent 2 hours tearing the house apart looking for it!! (DH is now in Intensive Care - but they say he's gonna make it.. )

Three slow payers had emailed me two weeks ago saying that they had put a check in the mail that day.. I waited..and waited..and waited some more..and nothing.. Last night I sent them notices that I was going to file NPB's and today I get emails saying they mailed the checks yesterday.. did they forget that they already lied to me and said they mailed them two weeks ago??? Do I have "STUPID OLD LADY" stamped all over my auctions??????

Rant over............for now..............

Find anyway to disable the script debugger window?

Go into your web browser Tools / Internet Options section and bring up the Advanced tab. If you are running IE, check the 4th box under the Browsing heading.........Disable Script Debugging.

I had this same problem when my SO and I went thru all of our options to find out why he can bring up the HotwireSavingsClub windows and click thru, while I can't see anything on the pages at all. It took me forever to find the right check-box, but as soon as I checked it, my Runtime Error notices disappeared :teeth:

egads...how did I change the name of this entire thread by blunderingly posting my question as a separate thread???

If I'm responsible for the thread title change Carol Ann I'm sorry!!
change it back..

the thing that is frustrating with the java console is that I DO have script debugging checked. Did before the thing ever installed. Still do. The java options haven't changed in those advanced options. I really like and need to be able to print the priority labels so uninstalling the usps applet isn't a very good idea.

MS Help tells me how to disable the active scripts, but this hangs other programs. (MS plays rather cagey with various forms of java). I'll go ask the IE Newsgroup, but thought I'd see if anyone else is having this issue. it only started when downloading the USPS applet, but now pops up all the time.

After massive fights with TurboLister and the fear that I'd lost the 20 auctions that I prepared, I came here to vent....and couldn't find our thread! Boy, I thought I'd screwed things up...but don't worry, Erin, I have faith that this will be restored....

Hang in, C.Ann, it sounds terrible, but you know that you'll have an awesome payoff....saying a prayer for your DH!

On the plus side, I did find all my auctions and successfully uploaded....with more to prepare for Sunday.

Hope everyone is doing BETTER!!!:sunny:

I thought I lost the thread too!!! I even backed out of the budget board wondering if they gave it it's own "section" since it got so big :D .

Slow paying bidders have been popular lately. I have a handful now. Wouldn't you know, they are all new too. (0-5 feedback). Ugh. I wish it was 3 days. Bottom line. It would make life much easier.

My husband works in a grocery store. A lot of times he'll come home with free junk. Two weeks ago it was a float tube. I had to research that one on ebay to find a name for it. It is used for fly fishing. I'm thinking, great what do we need with this, and who in the heck is going to bid on it? It sold for $41 today.

DH also brought home an inflatible Nascar. Those I always have pretty good luck with. This one sold for close to $50. Then, the silly boy brings me a Nascar banner. Who is going to buy that???? I start the listing at $4.99, and it ended tonight. The price on it when I went to work was $17. It ended tonight for $50!!!!! Who would pay that much money for a silly banner??? I sure hope that the person who won it doesn't think that my DH's bald head that is showing in the picture is included in the auction :)

Anyway, it was a great week for DH's junk! And, I found a princess costume on ebay NWT for $17. Can't beat that.

I feel your pain. For your own sanity, establish a clear NPB policy for yourself and your customers!

After ripping my hair out more than once over slow payers and non payers, I now require payment within 10 days of auction.

I also follow eBay's NPB minimums for non-paying bidders. At auction end, I send either an email or an eBay invoice. If there is no response after 3 days I send an eBay reminder through "My eBay". If there is still no response, I will email them directly so they have been contacted via my email address and eBay. I file a NPB alert at 7 days after auction end with no response. 10 days after that I file for my final value fees to be refunded.

Slow payers are harder. I make sure they know that payment is due in 10 days. If the "check is in the mail" and 10 days comes and goes I will let it stretch up to another 5 days, but then I file a NPB alert. Since I can't get my FVF back for another 10 days their payment really has 10 more days (for a total of 25!) to get to me before I leave a negative and collect my FVFs back.

I feel someone mean doing things this way, but the honest people pay on time. The pain-in-the-neck bidders do not. It's less stress for me if I just follow my own "rules" and think of the bidders screwing themselves.

I don't think I can deal with much more of this nonsense..

Now the person who paid LATE this afternoon - and then wanted to know if I had shipped the item tonight - has had a change of heart and wants me to hold the item for a week!!

At this rate I will have killed myself in a week!!

I'm tired..I'm cranky..I ran out of bubble envelopes..My boxes won't fold right..My tape won't stick..My computer is freezing up..

And I ran out of blankety-blank COFFEE !!!!!!!!

I have NO bids on any of my auctions - and I didn't have time to get anymore up...

I've gotta take a break here.. Today has been the worst of the worst..

I'm gonna head up to the lake tomorrow - and with any luck I'll get eaten by that big old black bear!!!
-------------------------------------------------------

Yay.....oh never mind....................................:(

C.Ann, I'm so sorry that you are having such a hard time with your auctions. What kind of feedback are you going to leave for this bozo?? Hopefully next week will be better for you. Have a good weekend!

C.Ann....I hope that you went to bed, woke up and bought some COFFEE! And drink that coffee, ignore eBay for the weekend and TRY to enjoy the lake....It WILL get better!!:D
