You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

I agree with Sandy--I would not bother to send a payment reminder at this late date. You only have 45 days to file for a non-paying bidder--if you wait too long, you run out of time and can't get your final value fees back.

I would use the link Sandy provided and immediately report these folks as non-paying bidders.

Sometimes sneaky non-payers will try to stretch out their payment promises and stop you from filing the Non-Paying Bidder/Final Value Fees by running out of time to file. "I get my next paycheck in 10 days, then I'll write you a check immediately"--that kind of thing.

Ebayers get suspended after 3 instances of having a seller file for a Final Value Credit against them, then permanently banned after 4. That's why it's important to ALWAYS file for your Final Value Fees, even if they only come out to pennies--you will help prevent the bidder from repeatedly backing out of auctions with other sellers.

OK, tommorow is the day I finish my pics of the things to put up, buy my scale and start putting my items on ebay...wish me luck I'm sure I'll be back with lots of question tomorrow..

Wow! I guess I was being too gentle, LOL!

It didn't even occur to me that people would try to "beat" that deadline. Guess I was naive! :o

Zurgswife and any other newbies, I just had my first several auctions end and want to send good luck vibes and encouragement! I set mine to 5 day auctions to include the weekend. After a good 3 days of no bids and being convinced that I was doomed to lose money, every single auction sold - most within the last 12 hrs so DON'T get discouraged if you see no bids at first! After shipping costs, ebay fees and paypal fees I made $110 on 7 auctions. While that isn't a lot, this was stuff that was just sitting in my basement collecting dust, lol, so not too shabby a profit. I can see how it is addicting however as I've begun going thru our closets in search of my next auction! I have another 11 going now to end on Sunday. I hope your auctions go well.

Great Job, Disney4us!

That is my biggest problem too...going through the closets hunting for stuff to sell. My husband is convinced that he is going to come home from work to an empty house one of these days! :p

I am amazed every day that in 10 years of marriage, we have as much junk as we have! Even after yearly yard sales, we still have SOOO much junk in our closets and basment! UNREAL!

Anyway, cheers to your success!!:bounce:

I hope someone can help me with my dilemma. My teenage daughter was helping me pack 2 lots of books and assured me she had everything packed correctly. I just received an e-mail from one of the buyers that 4 of the 30 books was missing. I talked to my daughter and figured out that she accidentally packed the four missing books with the other lot. What do I do now? I'm afraid to ask the other buyer to send me the 4 books because the buyer would have to go through all of the trouble of packing the books and going to the post office to return them. The books were forty years old and I can't purchase replacements. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm so excited! My dh sold a pair of jeans someone had given him that were way too big as a "buy it now" and someone has put a bid on my stuff too! I feel like a little kid:Pinkbounc I am going to go find more stuff after work today to list- I can see how this is addicting!:wave2:

You're on your way, zurgswife! I remember when I was where you are! You will love this!

I caught the ebay selling bug a few weeks ago myself, thanks to this thread. My first 20 listings (mostly outgrown kids clothes) moved pretty well. Most sold for my initial asking price, but that was ok, since I would have gotten nothing for them at goodwill, trash, etc. Only 6 didn't sell at all. But nothing ever goes smoothely, does it? Someone who bid on 5 of my listings and initially emailed that they'd send the check asap (10 days ago, in fact), but it hasn't come yet. Now when I click on their user name, I see that they have 22 neg. feedbacks (most within the past few days) for non-payment, no response to invoices, etc.

I'm bummed. I emailed him this am, and hope for a response, but prob. won't get one now. I was initially leery of him, because when he bid, he only had 3 feedbacks (all good). But I remember when I first started buying and had few feedbacks myself, and wanted to give him a chance to prove himself.

I'll prob. give him until Sat. (two days from now), then file on ebay and get my fees back, then relist them.

I've noticed that some people ask bidders with less than a certain # of stars to email before bidding. Does anyone here do this?

Oh well. At least I've sold some, and my 15 next listings are moving well. Kid's stuff are selling like hotcakes, esp. boy's clothing in good shape.

A funny thing happened yest. though. Someone emailed me about an item I have listed because they thought my s/h costs were too "excessive". This is a new bathing suit listed with $6 s/h costs. She asked me to cut that amount in half so she could bid. But I currently have 3 bids for the item with the current s/h price, and I emailed this to her, as well as pointing out that although it might cost her $3 to mail the thing, my handling fees had to be considered (just put out $38 for packing envelopes, labels, etc). She snidely replied that she still thinks my cost is too high and that I must lose $ due to higher s/h costs. For heaven's sakes, I only listed the item to start at $3.00! I think people want you to ship things for free, or give them cash back for buying! Now, I agree some s/h costs are high (too high!), but I can't pack and mail things and lose money on them. When I bid myself, I always consider the cost of the item plus s/h and consider that into my final bid amount. What's the diff. if you get the item for less $?

I must be overtired or something to take this so personally.

That's pretty nervy to ask someone to lower their s/h costs because you think it's too much. I just wouldn't bid if I thought those costs were too high. Some people:rolleyes:

I've asked about shipping (before bidding) if I thought it was excessive (or perhaps an expensive way to ship). They may not realize that I am in no hurry and would gladly take the item Parcel post, or media (if qualified) rather than fed ex. Everyone has always been polite (prob have done this about half a dozen times), and in all but one case, the shipping was lowered/changed to a cheaper method.

I have no problems with someone asking me (and I have been asked..especially when I've quoted Priority shipping..and had no problem making some changes). I'd rather they ask in advance, than after they bid. I usually figure my total cost before I bid, but if the shipping appears to be more than .50 - $1.00 for handling, I either ask if I want the item (and if they started the bid very low, I often figure they are trying to make up for it on the handling), or never bid. I personally would rather they start the item at what they are willing to settle for, than overpad the shipping. I have no problem with handling fees of .50 - $1.00 to cover the packaging (or even more if it's an item that takes lots of packaging), but I won't pay if it's to pad their item price or to pay less eBay fees (no fees for the shipping/handling costs).

I personally would not bid on a piece of light clothing, if the actual postage was about $3.00 and $6.00 was posted...since that type of item doesn't usually call for expensive packaging (a bathing suit could come in a free envy, Priority for $3.95 if we were both in the states..hence, no or very little handling expenses). If I saw $6.00, I would (if I really wanted the item..usually I just move on) give my addy and ask if the shipping would be less, since we live close, etc. If they say no..that their packing materials were expensive, and the extra $3.00 was to pay for them, again, I would just move on. Not picking on you or your bathing suit, since I have no idea how close to me you would be shipping from..just using that as an example of how I bid.

Hopefully in the next few days I will begin listing tons of new and used clothing from my granddaughter from infancy up to size 5 or so..

Most will go in "lots" (by size, etc.) but I might try a few special items individually.. My question is: If I sell an individual item (or outfit) and I put it in a zip lock bag and then in a Priority Envelope, would that be a GOOD way to ship - or would people be upset by that?

Also, there are a lot of brand name items (Gymboree, Gap, Old Navy, etc.) and quite a few Disney outfits.. Should I do the Disney items in a lots by themselves (by size) or mix them in with the other brand names?

I've never tried to sell clothing before so I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing! LOL:crazy:

Hi I have a question for everyone. I have been thinking about doing this for a while now. I was looking on Ebay and you can find large lots of designer/Boutique childrens clothes for sale. Each item will end up costing around $10 each. Can money be made from buying a large lot like this?

I am about to go through my DS closet when a thought occurred to me- he asks that all tags be removed from the necks of his shirts because they 'bug' him!! If I know they are branded outfits, how do I list them? Or do I just take the pix and hope others know what brand they are? Any advice would be very helpful!!!

IMO, That is a good way to sell. You also might want to look into discounted Tryvek (sp?) envies if the shipping would still end up cheaper PP, or 1st class, after you add your costs into the handling. Remembere, you can get plastic bags, and discounted ziplocks at that plastic bag shop off Wolf Road.

I rec'd one item in a "construction" plastic bag..cut down from a large one..I asked and the gal said she bought them at Walmart and taped it together, and taped on the addy label. S/H was very cheap for that item.

How do you go about getting boxes for large items that won't fit in a regular square type box???

Never heard of the place.. Guess I just don't get out enough - LOL.. Will have to check the next time I'm "across the river"..

....crafts or things they create on eBay? I've never sold any clothes or used items. But it sounds like a great way to get rid of things I've never even wore!!!!

I got hung up on that as well. Apparently, under the box you have to list with cc/debit info is a box that you must check saying all fees are to be charged to this card. You can then change it to paying with checking acct or another way, but you have to check that box before proceeding. At least that is what happened to me. Good luck!
