You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

When I went to download the Shipping Assistant, it appears I have to give a business name. Did ya'll just make up a name? This isn't officially a business, is it?? Trying to get to Disney, I mean!
If I make up a business name, will I have to get a work license to sell stuff on eBay?
Thanks,
Darlene

I am thinking probably more .1 gallery days and a free fixed price listing day in spring, summer and then I think they had a free listing day in the Fall and then the one around the holidays. Their stock is doing soo good and I believe auction counts are up, so freebies may be down. :(

I like .1 gallery days though, saves me .25 a listing!

There has traditionally been two a year. One in early summer (I thought it was June, and if you really want to know, I can find out), and one in December. The free listing times are flooded with a lot of stuff people would not usually list, and many complain their bids are low or non existant. I end up with lower bids during any promotion, including .01 gallery, so I usually only list buy it nows during those times.

Dumb, dumb me didn't notice the closed part of the old thread. Just thought everyone was busy. Now 6 pages of catching up and wanted to let people know that I revised most of my clothing auction titles to include Spring Summer in the title and they are getting hits like crazy. Just a heads up.

Thanks,

Martha

I finally found some info on paypal at the ebay site.
How exactly does the collecting shipping process work through paypal?
It states that you have to have an "add to shopping cart", "donate to paypal" or someother logo on your page. And I guess i find it all confusing. any help?

Does everyone do 7 day listings? That's what I have been doing but as someone said earlier in the post I get most of my bids the last day. I'm thinking of doing some shorter auctions just to see if there's a difference. What do you guys think?

I'm in complete awe! How do you have 100+ things to list at ebay? I'm struggling looking for stuff. I have a houseful of 'stuff' but I can't figure out what is just my junk and what could be someone else's treasure! How do you decide, or do you just list it all anyway?

I usually do 7-day, but I did a couple 3- and 5-days when I was getting rid of stuff before the move (they all had to end by a certain date in order to get them out of the house on time!) None of the 3-days I listed that ended on Saturday sold, but most of the 5- and 3-days I listed to end on Sunday did. I don't know i it was the stuff, or the timing, or what!

As for the Shipping Assistant, I just put down "eBay - userID" as my business name. Don't have to register it or anything! Then it goes in my address line so the buyer knows who it's from when they get their package. :)

while you are at DISNEY, check out the wonderful thrift stores down here. Also, the department stores and outlets down here have great sales and prices. I sell mostly clothes and go thrifting about once a month or more. We have a .99 cent by the lb GOODWILL which is where I find most of my adult clothing. The childrens clothing at most thrifts here are $1-2 so you can make a profit. You do have to be selective, only look for boutique or designer brand names and condition is a factor as well. I get more profit from used than NWT items. It takes practice, I have been selling since 1998 and you just get an eye for stuff as you go along. Sell what you know... with 4 kids, I know too much about clothes. My 1yr old has way tooo many, i just cannot stop buying!

Ebay is offering $.01 Listing Designer for the next three days. Think I will try it out.

i love the little templates, they make the auctions look so nice. Don't forget to take off the template when you list after the .1 cent sale, it is easy to miss and then you get charged the regular rate. Been there, done that! Will have to check it out! thanks!

How do you research "keywords" for eBay? I've seen several of you mention doing that - and I've read about it elsewhere - but I'm not sure how to go about it..

I'd like to try to get some in the titles of my auctions that don't seem to be getting many hits..

Thanks!;)

I had a potential "neg" situation that ended happily!!! One buyer won 2 of my auctions - Easter dresses. Well with one of them I had listed "with sweater" that coordinated. Usually I put both items in one picture. But with this one I listed the sweater in a separate picture. So when I mailed the package with the 2 dresses I forgot to put in the sweater!! I had the printout of the auction in front of me and I didn't see the sweater in the second picture and forgot about it. SOOO. It was totally my mistake. A few days later the buyer emails me that the sweater was not in the package. I emailed back immediately that I would look into it when I got home from work. My first thought was I accidently put it in with another buyer's package. But when I got home from work I looked in my closet and saw the sweater there. I emailed her that I had the sweater and would send it out first thing in the morning. I asked her what I could do to make it up to her because I wanted her to be happy. She replied that she didn't want anything. She was just glad that I was staying in contact and looking into it. Well, I happened to find another sweater that would match the second dress she bought from me. So I included that with a note of apology. I was really worried that she would neg me because I did make a mistake - and she had won 2 auctions so I was afraid of getting 2 negs! Although really I thought she could only neg me for the one that I made the mistake on - right???

To make a long story short (too late, I know). She just left me 2 glowing feedbacks and didn't mention the mistake! She just said something like "concerned with customer satisfaction". I was so happy.

So the moral of the story is to stay in contact and admit the mistake and do what you can to make it up. If you have a good buyer then all will be ok.!!!

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. I already have $400 paid down on our August trip. Only $1100 more to go!!!

disneychrista- thanks for the reply. I agree that something is better than nothing. Will have to do the math to figure out the average handling costs will be to list. I so dislike bidding on something that has excessive s/h fees, but when they cover actual costs I'm fine with them.

OK, thanks to this thread, I decided to try my hands at ebay. I purchased a few pieces of NWT clothing at a thrift shop and went to town on putting up the auction. I put BIN prices (not thinking I would get anywhere close) and was notified yesterday that one of auctions had gone to the BIN person (can't even tell you how excited I was). Anyways, my question is how long to y'all usually give the buyer to reply back to you. She won it yesterday morning and I send her the invoice and a seperate e-mail by early afternoon. Still haven't heard anything from her. How long to y'all usually wait?
Thanks again for all the information and encouragement!

I just found this thread, and I've only read the first page of posts, but I wanted to jump in here while I'm thinking about it. Someone mentioned purchasing shipping supplies at Viking. Well, here's a way to save even more money...go to Ebates and register to receive rebates just by shopping at their many available vendors. I'm pretty sure Viking is one of them. It is FREE! You just have to make sure every time you shop you go to Ebates first, so you can receive your rebate. They send out checks every quarter. Definitely worth it! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

....now I'm off to finish reading all your posts.:wave2:

eBay's rules state the buyer and seller need to communicate within 3 days of the sale. Since I have invoices sent automatically once the sale is complete, I wait for them to either send me a PayPal payment or contact me to let me know they are mailing me a payment. Although it is hard to wait sometimes, you must be patient. You just never know what is going on at the other end of "the net". Once I thought someone had forgot about paying me. It turned out they had actually left the state to be with their daughter who was having emergency surgery. It's up to you, but my suggestion is to wait at least 10 days after the auction closes without any correspondence from the winner, before filing a NPB.

Okay.
My two first auctions closed yesterday. I made a whopping $5.70.
Both were for baby clothes.
I mailed them out today, Priority mail.
I just put them in the envelope with a nice note. Should I have wrapped them in tissue or something?
Now I am starting to worry that I did it wrong.

I have six more ending this week, for baby clothes and action figures. How should I pack those up?

The only things I have ever bid on and won have been little things like pins, a t-shirt and a watch.

I dont think the packaging matters...but I know that I wait and see what it is in...it might make you more memorable-thus equalling someone remember that you took such care with their package...and buying from you again.
