Tell me more about USPS Shipping Assistant. Is it through Ebay or through usps.com. When I look on the USPS site I see Click N Ship, but not Shipping Assistant.

Thanks for any info-

Have you contacted them at all? Hopefully not. I would put it in the mail today, as planned and tell them sorry the item has already shipped. :teeth:
That's what I did. Shortly after receiving that advice from DMRick I ran to the post office and mailed it. I checked their feedback and they have 300+ positives and only one negative, but the neg is for cancelling. I just emailed a few minutes ago to say sorry, it was already mailed and I suggested that if they couldn't use it or give it as a gift to someone else that they may want to consider reselling it on half.com because it is really easy! :teeth:

This is kind of weird - I just did a search for some of my items I listed yesterday. They don't show up! I think they did last night, but now they aren't their. I typed everything correctly. Weird. They don't end for 6 days, so maybe when things get full the ebay servers ignore the auctions with a lot of time left. Has anyone else had this happen? I'll check them again tomorrow, but it's kind of tough to sell something when it doesn't show up in the search engine!!

Homemade or Handmade?

How would you list an item such as a store bought pillowcase that you have embellished with appliques??

Thanks for the link.

Does anyone use the "Print Shipping Label" link on completed auctions that leads to printing off postage and paying through PayPal? That looks like it would be easy enough but I haven't tried it yet.

When you print postage do you have to print it onto labels or can you print it on paper and tape it on?

Thanks for the help - going to the post office is the biggest problem for me, and if I could do most of it from home it would be such a great help!

I print it on regular paper and tape it. Be careful to get one solid thingie of tape across the delivery confirmation barcode, otherwise it won't scan.

Question. All of a sudden all of my Paypal transactions are ineligible for seller protection??? What's up with that? What did I do (or didn't do??). All of the buyers have been verified buyers.
I think I may have figured out the problem. To be covered by sellers protection you must have a verified premier or business account. So if you do not this may be why you are now not eligible. I am not sure if this has always been the case or not. I think it might be new because I don't have a premier account and have been covered by sellers protection in the past.

Does anybody use VENDIO? i thought i saw this mentioned on this thread. Wondering, what is charge and is it worth it? what are the advantages of using it. thanks!

Hmmm. I only have a personal account. But I was always "protected" in the past, but not anymore. It must be something new. I wonder what that means for me?

I have another question. If I try the new MyEbay version, will it mess up my current auctions or the ones just completed? I want to try it because I am curious to see the number of "watchers" but don't know if I should try it in the middle of an auction cycle.

I switched over when i had some auctions running, it just takes what you have and puts it in the new format, you won't lose anything. I like this format alot better. it's neat to see watchers of your auctions, kind of like spying on them, lol. If you don't like it, there's a link right on there to go back to the old way, at least while it's in beta, you can do that.

I have posted charges in the past. Best bet is to go to Vendio.com and read about the different plans. My auction schedule may be different from yours, so my pricing may not help.

thanks for the response about vendio. What do you like about it, what features are most beneficial.

Just curious, how do people sell gift certificates on Ebay so cheaply? Is it a scam or what?

How do I find costs for international shipping insurance? I can not find this on the USPS website. Can anyone help?

This link is the main menu for calculating shipping. Look on the left hand side of the page in the blue area for Domestic and International shipping. There is also a link in the body of the page.

USPS Calculate shipping

To calculate insurance you have to go through the process of calculating shipping. Only some of the international shipping options allow you to add insurance.

For Example a 1 lb package to the UK
You cannot get insurance on Global Priority, Air Mail Letter Post, or Ecomony Surface Letter Post.

You can get insurance on Airmail Parcel Post, Surface Parcel Post but you will notice that it is an extra charge and those shipping options are much more expensive.

On Global Express (EMS not guaranteed Express) insurance for up to $100 is incuded. You have to pay for more than that at standard PO rates (same as domestic insurance).

I find that most times it is less expensive for the bidder if they ship Global Express if they want insurance. Compare surface parcel post with Express.......most times Express is only a few dollars more (and sometimes less--see below) and they get it in less than a week rather than 4-6 weeks.

For a 1 lb package to the UK

$24.75 for Global Express (EMS) with $100 insurance arrives in 3-5 days
$25.60 for Ecomony Surface Parcel Post $100 insurance arrives in 4-6 weeks

I only ship Global Express (insurance) or Global Priority (no insurance) now. I no longer ship air mail or surface mail due to too many lost and/or damaged packages. I was told by the Postmaster at the branch that I ship from, that the GP packages go in the same bag as Global Express mail. I pack very carefully and have not had a missing or damaged package in 2 years. I still give my international bidders the option to purchase insurance and state that I am not responsible if the item does not arrive, but also tell them that I have never had a damaged or lost package yet. They can make the decision on whether of not to spend the money for Express. It can get to be expensive.

I also use the Global Priority flat rate envelopes (insurance not available) for smaller items or books. They are the same size as the domestic priority envelopes and cost $5.00 (6 x 10--$4.00 to Canada) and $9.00 (9½ x 12½ --$8.00 to Canada). Saves the bidder lots of money.

I don't really have an answer to your direct question. I did buy some Blockbuster certificates on Ebay with no problem though. Have had less success buying coupons.
