So you board the ship. What is your first mission? Grabbing a drink? Changing into your swim suit for the pool? Hitting up the buffet? Talking to the dining room staff?

Talk us through your first moments and let's daydream together.
(Or plan... if you are going on a cruise soon)

i have this mapped out:

When we boarded (we boarded fairly early) we went to Guest Services to sign up for tickets, then lunch, then checked out our room which was ready by then. Then we went to the kids club open house and did the tour. After that it was pretty much time for muster.

We've only done concierge so far.

  • Lounge for a couple drinks, snacks, and itenerary review
  • Drop carry on bags in cabin
  • Lunch at cabanas
  • Rest for DD, verandah and another drink for us

Next time we will be non concierge. I was thinking divide and conquer with one person getting character tickets, one doing tastings, and one taking DD for lunch. Now I'm thinking one person for tastings and everyone else can head for lunch.

  • Guest services for character meet & greets (although you can now prebook at least some of them which is fab)
  • Dining room to sort out alcohol tastings and check on large print menus (bad eyes mean I can't easily read the normal ones so always request them in advance but have to check once onboard)
  • Lunch - now I tend to go to the open restaurant rather than the buffett just because with my eyes carrying a drink and a tray is a bad combination
  • Drink up by the pool unless the rooms are open in which case drop off hand luggage then drink by the pool
  • Tour of the ship - this is a must for me even though I have been on her before as just makes me feel like I'm home (and helps me orientate where my room is)
  • Lifeboat drill
  • Sailaway

Hi - newbie question, how do you know which dining room you go to, to sign up for tastings, and generally how much do they cost please? Thanks!

So

At the port terminal they will give you an embarkation navigator, it's all listed on that, read it whilst waiting to embark.

Dinning room assignment will be on your cruise card, the table number and rotation.

So it will have the letters on it.

ALCALC for Animators, Lumieres, Cariocas, etc.

Mixology is around -$ 20/ 25 pp, it can be higher depends on the alcohol.

The location will be listed on that embarkation day navigator and I should have said its either in the dining room in the lobbey i.e. Lumiere's on the Magic, Tritons on the Wonder or Enchanted Garden on the other ships I believe, or sometimes I've also seen it listed as being in the nightclub area so check out that navigator carefully so you know where to go. On the Magic on all my past cruises its been in Lumiere's

For us we usually sail in Concierge so once we get on board we head up to the lounge meet with concierge staff and go over our itinerary. The staff know us well so they are usually 3 steps ahead of us and know what we like and dislike and any other requests are already taken care of. They usually meet with us first again because they know us and we will not have a lot of questions or requests so we get in and out quickly. We grab some snacks while in the lounge then go to the room and unpack then head up to the sundeck and hop in the hot tub and relax! Our next cruise in Sept is a non Concierge cruise so when we get on board we will probably head to Cabanas and grab a bite to eat before it gets to crowded then go find a quite place to relax probably by the Cove with a frozen cappuccino and people watch until the room is ready. We will do sail away on our aft balcony or in Rain forest on a heated longer!!!

Just a few FYI's to your plan.
You can now book the Princess, Frozen and Character breakfast (7 day cruises usually) online before your cruise:).
You can't get to the cabin doors until 1:30 when the cabins open.
Have a great cruise

I board the ship, get lunch at Cabanas (or whatever buffet depending on the ship as I'm not as big of a fan of the buffet set up in the MDR) then head down and get tickets for whatever mixology courses I want (these sell out but usually not so fast as I can't get one when I board early) then either head to the room (if it's ready) or chill on deck until it is (maybe swim depending on the cruise) then a quick nap before the drill and you can probably figure it out from there.

While I'm waiting in the terminal to board the ship I'm browsing the Navigator that was issued to me when I checked in. I check it out to determine if there is anything I need to register for (princess meets, character breakfast, etc) when I board the ship. Once I'm on the ship I head to the dining room (I'm not a big fan of buffets) to have brunch. Once I've finished my meal I usually go meet the dining staff team that arranges the dinner rotation and Palo/Remy reservations to confirm my dinner requests and see if I can make additional Palo/Remy reservations. By the time I'm done with that I'm off to my stateroom to drop off my luggage and completely unpack. After that I may stroll around the ship or just find a place to relax a bit before the safety drill and followed by the sail away party.

We were totally newbies on our cruise last month so we walked on looking around and looking very confused about where to go. We were greeted fairly fast by a CM who asked us if we wanted to get some lunch while we waited for our room to be ready and then he walked us right to the main dining room. We met our dining team, had lunch and then when to check out our room and decorate our door. :) We then sat on the veranda and just took it all in before heading out to explore the ship. It is overwhelming that first time, so much to see and do!

We are swapping from six years of concierge to a non concierge on my next cruise in four weeks, and have everything planned already, the only things I would have asked concierge for was 1/ character breakfast, - now done, 2/ a second brunch, well I can forgo that.

We usually hit lunch at cabanas first , then sign up for tastings and meet and greets, go to spa to make appointments that can't be made prior to sailing, request our favorite Palo server(but she left the Magic now)by then staterooms are usually opened so we drop our day bags and go on deck for a drink of the day or a Bon voyage.

Signing up for beverage classes can be accomplished at the same time you do port/adventures and guest services.

Talk us through your first moments and let's daydream together.
(Or plan... if you are going on a cruise soon)

We arrive at the port wearing our swimsuits.
Head to the guest services desk for tickets to character meet and greets and such.
Cabanas for some food that we take to the pool.
Play in the pool and Aqua Duck until our rooms are ready.

We read the Navigator from front to back while waiting to board. Once on board, meet and greet tickets (now we can do online, yipee) which means straight to Parrot Cay for lunch. If the cabins are available, we drop off our stuff, then go walking around the ship. We never miss the Sail Away celebration and we have to stop at Pluto's for the chicken strips. It's a great day!!!
