You are a terrible parent!!!!!!

I'm not a bad parent...I was told today I was a HORRIFYING parent because I send my kids to sleep away camp, which they love like crazy - sucks to actually make them happy. I should be jailed - Horrifying, I say...just horrifying.

Horrifying is now my word of the week. :lmao:

I am in the top running for bad parent of the year award. I am going through a divorce, my 12 yr old DS is currently in the hospital in the child psych unit and I am still looking forward to our Disney Trip in less then 100 days. So I am trying my hardest to earn that award so badly.

9 huh? so there is hope of getting all the kids out of my bed sooner or later? Usually the baby and one other kid sleep with me.. I wake up and someone is kicking me I never know who
:headache:

Well, it was only me and DS by the time he was 3. I used to hear it A LOT, even from family. I think it bothered people more because he was a boy. Well, I have a queen sized bed and I never knew he was there. When he turned 9, he finally agreed to have his room redone and I did a mural and everything. I guess he finally felt safe enough to be on his own. Funny thing is that he has always been the most independent child in every other way.

I didn't read all of this thread, but teachers on the DIS don't get ranked high either :(. Yeah, I am one!!

Very true! I guess I am a terrible parent AND a terrible teacher, LOL

Marsha

I go to Disney to get AWAY from my children...I send them to the grandparents. :rolleyes1

:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

You are my role model!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We took a trip to WDW without the kids and took a 7 nite Cruise on the Magic without them too!!!

I'll toss my hat in the ring..

My DD turned 37 today - the 25th - and after 37 years, I still keep thinking her birthday is the 24th.. What kind of a mother can't remember her own DD's birthday??

A terrible one..:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Don't feel bad, my mom thought her birthday was the 29th until she was 16 and saw her birth certificate when she went for her driver's license. It's actually the 26th; the funny thing is my grandpa would also tell her 'Happy Birthday' on the 26th and every year my grandma would correct him. :rotfl:

Today we had frozen pizza for dinner (it was either that or mac n' cheese), DD played outside in the fenced backyard without my watching her every move and I let her have lunch at school. I also made her do her homework and read to me before bedtime. I'm frequently the meanest mommy in the whole world and I'm ok with that!

Wow, you're really going through a rough time right now. Sorry things are so bad at the moment. I'll keep you and your son in my prayers. Hope he's home safe and healthy soon. :grouphug: If hanging on to your happy thoughts of Disney is being a bad mom -- YOU GO GIRL! (Guess I'm a bad DISer now for offering support). :rotfl:

Oh, I'm so there with you but I figure it's not *all* my fault...my youngest birthday is 10/16 and I *so* wanted him to be born on 10/15 - just because that is so much easier for me to remember AND I was in the hospital in labor on 10/15 so....in my head I was counting in 5's (10, 15, 20...) is easier to remember PLUS our old house address was 1015....but NO...the dude had to wait until AFTER midnight to be born! He's only 5, so looks like I can get away with slipping up on that for several more years.

I think that's why I can't get it straight in my head either.. I went into the hospital on the 24th, but she was born at 3:02 a.m. on the 25th.. It could be worse - I could have the month wrong too..

You think that's bad? I could of swore our daughter was born 9-28-1974, but her drivers license says she was born on 9-28-1874. Talk about time flying by! I seem to have lost 100 yrs somewhere. :confused3

Her license really does say that. :lmao: I told her we look darn good for our age. ;)

Everyone should know by now Im a bad parent....lol
Ohwell, my kids love me anyways :goodvibes

Just thought I would throw that out there. Apparently on the disboards no matter what you do someone thinks your a bad parent.

so Ive noticed

I would like to submit my name as well; DD13 has had her hair dyed, had Heelys, and has a "boyfriend", so I'm SURE I qualify! :thumbsup2

I disagree with this; I really believe that no MATTER what question/issue you bring up, SOMEONE will think you're a bad parent.

yup.... everyone does it wrong but them.....

I let my kids drink juice boxes, eat handisnacks, ride a bike with no helmet, let them play football, ride bulls, and cross the street without holding my hand. (hey it's hard work dragging a 16 yo across the street. lol)

you're awfully brave to mention no helmet here!!! :scared1:
shh, my kids usually dont either..

i'm just a bad parent on the disboards- in real life i'm quite good!;)
:thumbsup2 ditto

Hey my bday is the 15th :cutie:

Well...I'm fairly new to the DISboards, and I've already been called a bad parent b/c I let my 8 yr old DS see a pg 13 movies. It had "bad words".
Uh-oh! My dd saw all the PotC movies by age 5! Guess that makes me a bad parent, too, but she just loves Captain Jack!

When he was 16 he told me he was having sex with his girlfriend he had been dating a year and asked if I would take him to WalMart to buy condoms. And I did:lmao:
That makes you a good parent in my book!

I'm a bad parent because I'm leaving the kids at home and cruising to Tortola on 9/12.

But I'm a worse parent because I'm taking my DS 10 on the EBTA in April 2010, during school, but leaving DD 12 home for school.

But I was bad when she was 10 because I took her to China and Hong Kong Disney

Actually I'm sounding like a bad wife not a bad parent :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oooh I love this thread! My list is LONG

I'm a bad parent because I couldn't breast feed my baby's and I was ecstatic that I would never be someones "LUNCH" :lmao:

ALL my children used a baby leash! :scared1:

I let my baby's cry themselves to sleep to get things done.:sad2:

I didn't give my kids any sweet baby foods until they had eaten every cereal, meat and vegetable in the supermarket.

I let them suck there thumbs and use binkies. :thumbsup2

This summer I let my 10 yrs old stay up til 1 every morning reading! popcorn::

I make my oldest 10 fold the laundry and 7yr old unload the dishwasher and 4 yr old pick up and sort the shoes!:laundy:(thats not me lol)

I make my kids wait long periods in the car or in boring buildings and cold fields while their siblings play soccer or t- ball or volleyball or swimming, do ballet, take art classes, go to scouts (both girls and boys) when they could be home watching TV.:cheer2:

I make them eat home cooked meals instead of getting Pizza or McDonalds:eek:

I sometimes let them eat meals together in the family room in front of the TV so I can eat and watch the news in the kitchen. :surfweb:

WOW looks really bad on paper and I'm just getting going!

Thanks for a good laugh I needed it this week!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

One time my mother was at a friend's house and the friend practically called my mom a neglectful parent because she let me stay home at the age of 8. My mother sadly nodded and said " Um,excuse me for interuppting (sp) you on my parenting but your twelve year old has a marble stuck up his nose."

Best Thanksgiving ever. (jk)
:lmao::lmao:LOVE it!
Trust me. Here, you're a bad mom if you breast feed and you're a bad mom if you don't! It's a complete and total catch 22!
Sad but true:sad2:

Horrifying is now my word of the week. :lmao:

I saw that and felt terrible for you:hug: Mine only go t camp for 2 weeks. DS loves it but that is about all we can afford, and he is good with 2 weeks. DD is not a camp kind of kid, but has tried it and did go to language camp this summer and did okay--and it was soooo good for her. I, on the other hand, was a camp lover. I lived for my weeks at camp every summer. If my parents had had the financial ability to send me for 8 weeks they would have because I WANTED to go; they missed me (like I miss my own when htey are in camp) and would have enjoyed having me home more, but they knew I would enjoy camp the most. I think it is great that you can send you kids to a camp they enjoy for the summer.

I'm even a worse parent to my son. When he was 16 he told me he was having sex with his girlfriend he had been dating a year and asked if I would take him to WalMart to buy condoms. And I did:lmao:
I think that makes you a brilliant parent:thumbsup2

Actually, I haven't seen anything on here that makes anyone a bad parent. Lots of choices I wouldn't make, lots of choices I would make and many htat I have made but no really bad (and certainly no horrifying) choices at all.
