You are a terrible parent!!!!!!

You let her CHOOSE?? Wow, you're such an enabling parent!

What can I say? She was being a quiet girl playing Sims 3 so I thought I would reward her for her good behavior.

hmmmmmm.....

I am a parent, who loves my children. I am a parent, who makes mistakes. I am a parent, who tries her best that she can do. I am a parent, who is not perfect! I am a parent, and thank God for the opportunity that I was given!

I agree with the PP that more and more anyone with a different approach is labeled a bad parent (or nuts, psycho, crazy or some other insult). It is sad. Every family and every child is different and it would be so nice if we could support each other instead of dragging each otehr down (I guess there is no fun in that).
I have been a bad parent by DIS standards a couple of times over this week alone (and it's, what? Tuesday:lmao:):

My kids have been allowed to stay home alone since age 8

DS goes to sleep away camp every summer and DD even went this summer (2 weeks)

the kids have pocket knives

DD has been babysitting since she turned 10

the kids have a laptop and can use it in their own rooms. They are allowed to use google and youtube

I breastfed both kids in public and never covered with a blanket (but did not expose much--people often thought they were napping in my arms and had no idea)

the kids come home from school, go to the library, run to the grocery store, etc. on their own on foot, bike and tram. They even came home from summer camp on the trian alone (5 hour ride).

DS is allowed to paint his nails when he feels like it (so is DD, but that apparently does not make me a bad parent)

I did not put shoes on my babies before they could walk and socks only on my son (DD hated things on her feet) and only if it was chilly

DD wears bikinis

we used to homeschool

the kids have had cell phones since they were about 5 and 7 (may have been 6 and 8) and shared one before that

There are many R rated movies I let my kids watch (and quite a few PG and PG-13 I do not let them watch)

There is plenty more I am sure--these are just the things I think I recall having come up on the DIS at some point:upsidedow

Most of these things you have stated here are things my mom has done and believe me, I came out fine. I don't believe the bad parent bashing, just because the way that a person raises their kid is different from another is no reason to bash their parenting. One time my mother was at a friend's house and the friend practically called my mom a neglectful parent because she let me stay home at the age of 8. My mother sadly nodded and said " Um,excuse me for interuppting (sp) you on my parenting but your twelve year old has a marble stuck up his nose."

Best Thanksgiving ever. (jk)

i'm just a bad parent on the disboards- in real life i'm quite good!;)

Well, I am a terrible parent too!

-I didn't breastfeed, mainly because I didn't want to.

-My son slept with me until he was 9.

-He plays video games so many hours a week that I can't count.:scared1:

-He has had a cell phone since he was 9.:sad2:

-He has tv and internet in his room.:guilty:

You would never know that he is a very polite and normal 15 year old.;)

My girlie was 12 when she first had highlights put in her hair:eek:

Then I am really terrible. At 12/13 I let my daughter do a semi-permenate HOT PINK hair dye. By 14 she was bleaching and doing various colors. Then now at 16 she bleached all her hair blond (from dark brown) and the under part is 2 - 3 colors of blue.

I figure it is hair...big deal.

My kids ate SCHOOL LUNCHES! I have a good size list that qualifies me. I will post more later.

I gave my kids money to buy lunches but I have no clue if they ever actually bought them!

Well the bad parenting continues, frozen meal is the oven for supper. It was either that or boxed mac and cheese.

She choose the frozen chicken and rice bake.

Oh, was it the Stouffer's Grandmas Chicken and Rice Bake? That stuff is so good...my families favorite food.

Yup, Grandma did a good job on that one! They love it.

My kids have dyed their hair.

I pick my battles.

I have let them stay home from school when they wern't sick.

They have piercings and tattoos.

Drank Kool Aid and juice.

Never cooked a separate meal, we all ate the same thing.

I am sure there is more I could write.

-My son slept with me until he was 9.

9 huh? so there is hope of getting all the kids out of my bed sooner or later? Usually the baby and one other kid sleep with me.. I wake up and someone is kicking me I never know who
:headache:

I didn't read all of this thread, but teachers on the DIS don't get ranked high either :(. Yeah, I am one!!

Count me in my DD 9 watches Family Guy!!! Just remember some of the people who read these boards are just unhappy people who may just be looking to take out some of their frustration and when you post something innocently they take it out on you and run with it. Just ignore them. I think anonymity contributes to this rude behavior as well. Just ignore them and don't give them fuel for their pathetic little fires!!!

So you think people might judge me because my SIX year olds watch this show?! :lmao: They're the youngest of 5 - I was a much better parent to my older kids, I assure you!

Heelys!! I can't believe you admitted that on a public! :scared1:

Actually, you are a bad parent because you are not helping your child fill the water balloons. What's wrong with you?!

I'm joining the club for allowing my kids access to Wii/DS/Webkinz/Club Penguin.....

My SIL thinks I'm a bad parent because we have a TV. :headache:

Oh, don't you worry - as soon as DH got home from work, he was on water ballon duty! All of my kids got Heelys at the age of 6... Not one has fallen, and not one has knocked anyone over - yet...

Lol! I did breastfeed untill my youngest was two. Mainly, because it was easier to prop her there while surfing the DIS.

Oh, and both my DD's (7 and 2) sleep with me. So does our dog. It is one crowded bed!

How do you get them to NOT pull on the wires? My mouse or keyboard ends up on the floor if I try to bf while dising :rotfl:

Well...I'm fairly new to the DISboards, and I've already been called a bad parent b/c I let my 8 yr old DS see a pg 13 movies. It had "bad words".

Okay...now let me have it :rotfl2:

I'm waiting for what they say about me weaning my BF son a month ago...at 27 months (granted, he is special needs...but I'm sure that makes me a bad mom as well).

I go to Disney to get AWAY from my children...I send them to the grandparents. :rolleyes1

Trust me. Here, you're a bad mom if you breast feed and you're a bad mom if you don't! It's a complete and total catch 22!

I'm a bad parent for lots of reasons, but tonight I'm a bad parent because the little monster has pushed each and every one of my buttons and I have no patience left. I've yelled. I've threatened. I've pounded my chest and chased her back to her room. If she gets out of that bed again, I'm selling her on Ebay. Yeah, I know it's early. I don't care. I now know what my mom meant when she told me things were for "your own good."

Add me to the list of bad parents. We let 13 year old DD bleach her hair and dye it black underneath. DH also bought her "real hair" extensions. She wears a bikini to the pool and has a boyfriend. I'm even a worse parent to my son. When he was 16 he told me he was having sex with his girlfriend he had been dating a year and asked if I would take him to WalMart to buy condoms. And I did:lmao:
