I will be staying at the Polynesian for a quick 3 night stay during August. With me will be my mother, grandmother (in her late 80's)and my two DD's 4 and 1. I have reserved a Garden View room, non smoking , I also would like a balcony or patio, because I have a feeling grandma may like sitting out there in the evenings to read. Any suggestions on a building, the CM at CRO told me she would also note that I'd like to be close to either monorail or boat launch, I didn't ask for this but I guess it was nice of her.

One other question while I'm thinking of it, I got an AP discount on the room will be paying $230 + 25 extra person charge, how much more is conceirge and can you get an AP discount for a conceirge room ?

Sorry so many questions, I just want this trip to be awesome, it will be just the girls and four generations of us at that.

These discounts are more limited at concierge level, but certainly attainable. I managed to get an AP on GV concierge in June--August would be less--and our rate is $330.23 p/night. Good luck trying for the AP in concierge if you go for it!

Hawaii would be a good location for your Grandmother--2nd floor has NO balcony though. Your safest bet at any of the longhouses is requesting a 1st (patio) or 3rd (balcony) room. Some of the 2nd floors do not have a balcony, e.g., Hawaii.

AP rate for Polynesian GV Concierge room in August with 3 adults and including tax would be $323.01 per night.

I just got a concierge LV room at the Poly for $318 in August for 5 nights. I may cancel if I miss EE too much. I thought that the rate was great!

You might also want to consider a room in the Rarotonga longhouse.

We had a non-smoking room, first floor with a nice patio that we sat out on in the AM, and again in the evening. It would be an ideal place for your grandmother to read, relax, etc. Our room faced the quiet pool, but there are privacy hedges so you are not totally exposed to everyone walking by.

It's also right next door to the Great Ceremonial House.

I got that same LV concierge rate for July, although you'd have to add the extra person charge.
One thing to consider if you get the Hawaii building--in December we had a garden view there and the sun was beating down in the morning! I think the LV side would be better for Grandma. Remember 3rd floor is smoking optional but you get a balcony. If you want a patio and nonsmoking go with first floor. That way Grandma can also gaze out at the castle and maybe watch your daughters play on the beach.
The concierge lounge might provide you with a food option, esp. for breakfast, on days some of you want to sleep later.
Have a nice trip!
