Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're going back. Oh wait, you want to come? Uh huh.

Hello people! I am super excited to see that I have readers already! Now, I feel that l need to say I have no idea where I'm going with this PTR. I have made a few plans so far but I'm not quite sure what I'm going to be planning in the future. The main thing that I will be working on between now and then is my sanity. That, I will get to later. But for now, here are the details...

The Dates...

12/1 - 12/7

The Place...

animal_kingdom1-1.jpg

Our home resort. We are fortunate enough to be DVC members and we absolutely LOVE this place! When we found out that they were selling points at AKV back in 2007, we were in. Hook line and sinker. I just don't know what it is about the place but I love the feel there!! I want to travel to South Africa one day but until then, this serves as a very close representation.

We will be staying in a studio...

With a value view. Now, before you poo poo my value view, let me just tell you... we stayed there May of 2009 with a value view and it was gorgeous. It was of the pool but the pool is surrounded by lush gardens and streams so that's what we saw every day. The beautiful greenery, the bubbling streams, and then the pool. It was great and well worth the points. The savannah view we have done as well and yes, it is awesome. But it's quite a few more points than value so no thanks. We won't be hanging out on the balcony all that much anyway.

So speaking of savannah view, that brings me to the first problem of this trip planning. I originally booked a 5 night stay back in January when my booking window opened up. We woud fly in early on 12/2 and get a full day at the parks in. When the Southwest flight schedule for December finally came out recently, I found that the earliest flight leaving NewOrleans (NOLA) was at 9:55am which wouldn't put us getting there until 12ish and to our hotel at 1ish and who knows when to the park. That for me, my friends, was not going to cut the mustard. So, I casually bumped the date up to 12/1 to check for a later flight. Lo and behold there is one that leaves at 4pm and gets us there around 6:30. We could then head to the hotel, hang out a bit, have a drink around the fire pit, let the kids play with the night vision goggles, eat, and then settle in for a good nights sleep. So that is exactly what we did. I booked the flight and called DVC to add a night to our ressie. Only problem is, the night of the 1st wasn't available with the value view:scared1: But, they did have a savannah view. So I guess we will just have to suck it up and see the animals on the first night then move to the value. After that was all said and done, I figured why not just switch the whole freaking thing over to savannah view so I called DVC back. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on the way you look at it, the savanah view wasn't available for our entire stay. I told them woman to just leave it like it was and it was a sign that I shouldn' t change it! So there, we will do one night savannah and 5 nights value. Fine by me.

Ok, so now we have the hotel and dates set. Naturally, we'be been talking about it more and more especially since the dining window has been opened for a while now. Oh don't you worry. I had it marked on my calendar like every good DISer does and I was on the phone bright and early that morning. Got everything I wanted down to the minute:banana: I will share those choices with you later. For now, I must explain my title.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're going back. Wait, you want to come to? Uh huh"

Then there are the in-laws. Jason's parents. Sweet Lord help me. They have now jumped on the bandwagon and have decided to tag along as well. My only saving grace is that they are using an off site time share and they can't check in until 12/4 which is 3 days after we get there so we'll have that down time before the calvary comes to town. They don't have anyone else there so they are going to be totally focused on us. Not looking forward to this. His dad has already emailed me asking if they can eat with us the nights that they're there. Sure, Papa (that's what my kids call him), I'll just go ahead and completely rearrange my already set in stone itinerary and ADR's that have been planned since June and cross my fingers that I can find a restaurant that actually want to go to that will seat 10 people. Hmmmmm, STRESS is setting in:scared1: I still don't know what my response is going to be to him. I think we will just offer to eat a few quick service meals with them. I am not messing with my ADR's. What would you do????

Looks like you win with the extended family! Good luck with the dining issues. Maybe add 1 family meal for everyone?

Yay, I'm so happy you have a pre-trip report now too! :cheer2:

Oh Lordy, there will be in-law drama in this one. I'm so sorry for you - but yay for your readers!! It will be even more interesting! popcorn::

I'm kidding, I'm sure things will work out fine. I would maybe try to get one ADR with the entire family and then do QS meals with them the rest of the time.

Subbing! Just finished reading your trip report, so thought to hop on over here.

Btw, I am a firm believer that "just" does not count with disney if your trip is 2 months old. It's ancient history! pirate:

Good luck with the inlaws. Maybe since they will be there, is there anyway that you can schedule time way for yourself? Like perhaps the grand floridian spa?

Oh man! I can totally feel your pain with your relatives! Let's just leave it at that ;)

Your TRs have actually encouraged me to look into DVC more! From what I gather, between mortgage fees and dues, it ends up somewhere around $300 per month for around 200 points, so the discussion has been opened, but I'm not sure it's something we can do right now. Hey, at least it's not as out of reach as I thought it would be :) :)

Can't wait to hear more about your plans!!

I still don't know what my response is going to be to him. I think we will just offer to eat a few quick service meals with them. I am not messing with my ADR's. What would you do????

I love spending time with my family - hubby's family too - have a great relationship with my in-laws. But my vacation is for my family to enjoy - I hope that anyone (friends or family) that happens to be with us can enjoy it with us but hubby and I work hard to afford our play time. I hope that we can spend fun time with our extended traveling party but at the same time I'm not willing to compromise my "investment". In your case, I'd try to maybe add a character breakfast or see if I could work a dinner or 2 as a group but you planned and earned your ADRs you have currently - I would not trade them.

You ask what would I do??? Well...the title of my current TR is How Did A Trip that Started so Well End so bad??

Well....the answer to that is that My MiL, Fil, SiL, BiL, DNiece, DNephew joined us 1/2 way thru my trip. I have been with my MiL and FiL before and swore I wouldn't do it again. It's his way or the highway. He is ALWAYS right. I think we all know one of those. He is a bigot and very ignorant. Afterall, I am going to hell because I Baptized my kids:rotfl: Didn't know that's how it worked. You can imagine his "surprise" when I sent my DD to a Catholic school. Ohh...perish the thought. I digress. Anyway, after we booked our trip (with friends of ours mind you) and made all of our ADR's they decided they wanted to come. They always stay in an off site timeshare. I let them know that we already have reservations that I just can't change but I would try to get something with them. About 6 weeks....that's right...6 weeks BEFORE the trip my SiL and BiL decided to come. I loathe my SiL. We have gotten into some really knock down drag down fights. She is a pathological liar. Anyway....I add them to the dining ressie too. I already had what days I was in what parks. Of course they followed that but they wanted to be with us every minute!! They would call on my cell...wait there we will be right there. 45 minutes later they would show up. Way too much waiting around wasting my time.

So....I guess that is my advice. Do what you want to do. I find a lot of people just become so overwhelmed that they take comfort in those that make a "habit" of going. Try to get one meal you can all eat together. Other than that; just tell them you already had the reservations and couldn't switch. And whatever you do....do not waste your time waiting for them. I tried to look at it from my children's point of view. They were so excited to have everyone there. I'm sure Aubrey and Brendan will be pumped to have them there.

If all else fails....I will meet you in Mexico at the margarita bar since we will be there the same time. :lmao:

You can read more about the trip on my trip report - if I ever finish it. :confused3

Thanks! What's my prize? I'll take a bottle of Xanax:rotfl:

I was thinking about that too but we're 10 people total and the ADR's are very slim right now. I am going to sit down this morning and think about it.

Yay, I'm so happy you have a pre-trip report now too! :cheer2:

Well I am just so glad you find my pain amusing. Ok, you know I'm kidding. Seriously though, this is going to be entertaining. I never know what the next day is going to bring with the inlaws. And that was my other thought, just do QS with them. But one big meal would be fun. I don't know!

Subbing! Just finished reading your trip report, so thought to hop on over here.

Welcome! Thanks for reading my TR and following me over here:thumbsup2 I never even thought about leaving my kids while at Disney! That is a very appealing thought:)

Yes, we have 160 points and pay about $250 a month. We'll hope to pay it off soon and then our vacations will be completely paid for for the next 48 years. Well, our accomodations anyway. I love DVC!!

I love spending time with my family - hubby's family too - have a great relationship with my in-laws. Haleluer! I agree about not moving around my plans. But the thing is, you understand how hard that is, I understand how hard that is, everyone here understands how hard that is.... They, will not. It's not like we're going to the beach and just laying around all day. And that is a really good way to put it. We have worked hard for this family time and I want them to be a part of it but not take it over.

You ask what would I do??? Well...the title of my current TR is How Did A Trip that Started so Well End so bad??

:scared1: is all I have to say.

Seriously. There is no way I'm going to let them run the show. That sounds just miserable. SIL is already asking about being with us because they don't know where to go. I have offered to sit down with them and go over the maps, pointing out things they should/shouldn't do, what they should do first... That kind of stuff. Plus, they are going to be eating on their own for the most part so that will help. It will all work out. I just really need to sit down and make some plans, for everyone!

All of that being said, I will still probably need that drink. You are staying at AKL right? I'm serious. We need to have a DIS drink!

Ok, so now I'm super paranoid about my inlaws somehow finding this PTR and reading all of the lovely things that I have written. What are the chances of them googling me and finding it:surfweb: They probably don't even realize that the DIS exists. Hopefully.

So, I should really say that when we are all together, we do have a good time. It just can't be extended amounts of time, you know? I know that we'll have fun at meals but walking the parks is going to be a different story. Hmmmmmmm, pretty sure I'm just going to need to sneak in a flask every day.

We had a group of 15 Thanksgiving week 2002. You can't all stay together. No one gets to do anything because you're always waiting for someone who has to go the the bathroom. It works best if you meet up at certain times to do things and just have a few big meals. We did one breakfast at Chef Mickeys and Thanksgiving diner at The Castle. I do feel your pain and it won't be easy. Can't wait to read how this plays out.:rotfl:

I actually thought about this for you. When you google yourself (:rotfl2:) does anything DIS related come up? Do any of the in-laws know you do trip reports? I'm sure you'll be fine though. I want to start a PTR in a couple months and I keep going back and forth if I should even use our real names. :confused3

Unfortunately, we are not staying at AKL. We are staying at ASMo from 12/2 thru 12/5 then staying off site from 12/5 thru 12/12. As of right now, I have Epcot on 12/3, resort hopping/DTD on 12/4, MGM on 12/5 and MK on 12/6. Are you in any of those parks the same days? We MAY ( a big MAY) try to brave MK on 12/4. Not sure as they are taping the parade that day. My DH thinks it might be "fun" to watch. :scared1:

ok I'm in...I read your TR report...I want to do my own for my dec cruise..but we'll see.

thanks for sharing with us!

Oh my, your story of your pending trip with the IL's and SIL sound reminiscent of my 2000 trip with my family. Needless to say, we learned our lessons and not only will we NOT be staying with the rest of the family, we made it CLEAR (crystal) that we (DH and I) would be spending part of each day, on our own.....we'll meet up together for SOME activities and meals, but this is OUR vacation too, and we don't want to end up regretting another Family vacation.

(((Hugs))) to you that all goes well......
:thumbsup2

I think we are secretly related...minus my Boston-ness and your Southern Charm! MY biggest fear is that my inlaws will find my TR! There are little digs here and there that they CAN NOT read! That's why I don't post the links of FB. I don't think they'd ever look it up but you never know!

On the otherhand, I was SOOOO excited for another TR but one with INLAWS????? Oh this is going to be good! I apologize ahead of time for laughing at your distress! ;)

Whew! Just finished your TR. I LOVED it. Your pics were gorgeous.

I have an older DSLR that needs replaced. (It doesnt focus anymore.. Im sure I could have it fixed, but shhh..I want a new camera, dont tell DH) Im kind of bouncing between a new Canon DSLR and just a nice point and shoot for the trip. Did you find dragging your big camera along a pain? Im worried Ill miss a lot of photo ops because I wont want to drag it everywhere. Did you just use one lens your entire trip?

Too funny about your inlaws! My mother in law has invited not only herself but her sister and her mother along with us as well. I'd love to vent about it on my PTR but like you I'm too afraid she'll find me! Paranoia! :rotfl2:

I did google myself and it pulled up my march TR. That's fine but there's a link to my PTR in my siggy. I seriously doubt that any of them would take the time to find me. They'd have to google some pretty specific things but it still makes me nervous. I did make a few adjustments to my second post, just in case. Man, I shoud be ashamed:rolleyes1

That's right. I remember that. I think someone else that I "know" from the DIS is staying at AKL. I love ASmo. We stayed there on our very first trip:love:

Wait, what are you talking about. What parade? Sweet Lord. Ahhh, I do see now that touringplans has it at a 6. I had no clue. Luckily, I think we'll be in AK that day. Thanks for that heads up! Wonder if it would be too crazy to watch. Hmmmmmm

ok I'm in...I read your TR report...I want to do my own for my dec cruise..but we'll see.

thanks for sharing with us!

Oh you should! It's so much fun. After I made my last post, I actually went back and read the whole thing. It brought back all of the memories. I love sharing them. Glad you enjoyed it:thumbsup2

I think I've gotten it under control. And that's the key word. WE are in control of what WE do. They will just have to deal. Trying to make that as clear to them as possible now. We shall see!

You crack me up. And I don't put anything on FB about the DIS. I am a fan but that's about it. I'm pretty sure I have digs in all of the reports I've done, so if they find out about the elusive "DisneyTiger" I'm screwed.

Whew! Just finished your TR. I LOVED it. Your pics were gorgeous.

Ok, here's my story about my camera. I bought it the day before our big first family trip back in 2008. I really didn't research it much except for on a photo thread on the DIS. I asked a few people what kind of camera they had and the one I got is the one they recommended (Nikon D40). I was so overwhelmed when I took it out of the box that I actually put it away and almost left it on the table. But, at the last minute I grabbed it as I was walking out the door, telling myself that I would read the instructions on the plane and if I didn't like it, I would return it when we got home. Well, let me just tell you, IT WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER!!! Yes, it's big and a pain in the butt to carry around, but the quality of the pictures is so worth it for me. I've gotten used to it. It's kind of a part of my body now, kind of like my iphone:rotfl: I've brought it on 4 trips now and I don't miss my little point and shoot anymore. I'm sure there are good quality PAS's out there but I love my SLR. And, BTW, I still have no idea what SLR means or how to use the thing. That whole "read the directions thing while on the plane" never happend. I just keep it on the same setting and it works for me. I hope to take a class one day but for now, I heart my Nikon.

And, I'm SO glad I'm not the only paranoid one on the DIS:lmao:

Hmm. I don't know what I would do. Maybe do like 1 or 2 meals together?
Good luck with the in-laws. I hope your trip is still fun though! :D

It will be fine. I think I was just in shock when I first posted about it. I have since had time to calm down and plan it out. It'll be ok. I'm just going to keep telling myself that:laughing:

YOu crack me up! YOu have a story for everything! :rotfl: Very entertaining. They are taping the Christmas parade on Saturday and I guess the rain date is on Sunday. If it's only a 6 we might try so we can chalk it up to experience. We weren't going to do park hoppers but it turns out we might actually upgrade to annual passes or no exp park hopper when we get there. We'll try to firm things up when it gets closer and maybe we can meet up. Who knows....maybe I will be a convenient excuse for time away from the extended family.:lmao:

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't done an update lately. I have been CRAZY busy! So, as I think I mentioned once before, I am a TA on the side and I do Disney trips. Well, since they have extended this free dining thing, I have been SO busy booking trips and making ADR's for clients! Seriously, I was on hold with Disney for 50 minutes earlier today:scared1: It's been crazy. But... my kids are both quiet eating dinner and watching a movie (yes, I know I'm an awesome mom - oh, and they're eating pizza. That I ordered. I didn't even make it in the oven) so I thought I would take a minute and let you know about the planning frenzy that has been going on around here! It's good though. I think we've come to a happy medium.

So, my BIL, who is a research fiend (he's the one I'm most concerned about googling me;) ) has been reading all about Disney and when to go where, where to eat... you know, all the fun stuff. So I've been helping him plan. And he's totally on board for us havving seperate trips while trying to see each other every now and then. So, between the two of us, we've come up with an itinerary. Here goes....

12/1/10:
-We fly in and will arrive to AKV around 8:00pm. We'll eat QS and check out the hotel. It's so pretty there and I can picture myself sitting by the fire pit outside having a cocktail right now. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Ok, sorry back to reality! My SIL and BIL are not flying in until the next day so we'll have this night and the next morning and afternoon just us:thumbsup2

12/2/10:
-Wake up and head to Epcot for opening. SOARIN'!!!! My favorite ride! And probably the rest of Futureworld. We'll then head over to Norway for a 12:00 ADR at...

2d538fc8.jpg

We had so much fun at this meal for Aubrey's 3rd bday. I can't wait to do it again. And the food was awesome!

BIL and SIL will be getting to their hotel around 3:00 so they will meet up with us around 4:00 in Epcot. From there we will head over to GF for dinner at ...

1900ParkFare.jpg

I love love love this meal. We first did it for Aubrey's 3rd birthday trip and it was great. The characters stay so much in, er, character:rotfl: The evil step sisters were running around looking for men that weren't wearing wedding rings and when they would find one, they'd yell across the room to the other sister "Got one over here!!!!" It was hilarious. One of them, can't remember their names, was so whiney. Look at the reaction she got from Brendan when she fussed at him for crying...

aubreysbirthday175.jpg

He snapped out of it after a while. Don't worry:) So, we'll do our first meal with BIL, SIL, and their two boys. The boys will be 2.5 and 15 months. I think they will get a kick out of it. So will Aubrey, and Brendan too if he wasn't traumatized the first time. After that, we will all head back to our rooms for a good night's sleep.

12/3:
- Wake up and make it to rope drop at MK. We'll meet up with SIL and BIL again for this. I want to see their reactions the first time they go in the park so I chose to make this a "together" time :) We'll head over to Fantasyland and do that with them. Then they have a 10:10 CP reservation so we'll split up at that time. See, an hour here, and hour there. Sound good so far? After splitting up with them, we'll probably do a few more things then head over to DHS. I want to be there in time to watch them flip the switch to turn on these...

4DisneyMGM9.jpg

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights:jumping1: What a beautiful sight this is! I just love these lights and it will certainly put us in the Christmas spirit!

From there we will hopefully have enough energy to hop over to Epcot to hear the 8:15...

Candelight Processional. I love this show. Really, I know every song and love to sing a long. I don't expect my kids to be able to sit through it so we'll just stand back, drink a beer, and listen. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it. This really is one of the reasons we go back to Disney at Christmas time:love:

After that, it will certainly be time to head back for bed.

12/4:
-The in-laws are coming this day:scared1: Ok, I shouldn't say it like that. Jason's parents will be driving in this day so we'll meet up with them later. But first, and 8:15 breakfast ADR for...

Boma, is our favorite restaurant. We love it there and since we're staying at AKV, I figured an earlier ADR would be doable. We've never done breakfast before so I am looking forward to it. I've heard such good things!

After breakfast, we'll head over to AK to meet up with SIL and BIL again. Now, this is kind of a family packed day so we'll have to see how it goes. We love AK and really want to share it with them because they are both biologists and will really like it. So, if it works out, we'll stay together. If not, we'll meet back up later at our hotel. That is going to be the meeting point for us all this evening, MIL and FIL included. We'll have a drink around the firepit and then take a cab over to Wilderness Lodge for an 8:05 ADR at...

This was going to be one of the meals that we did on our own, but I figured it would be a good one for the whole group and I was actually able to get an ADR us all! We've never eaten here before and I've heard such good things. My inlaws have no clue so I can't wait to make my MIL ask for some ketsup:rolleyes1 Also, my FIL birthday is 12/6 so we plan on ordering him some kind of special dessert. Has anyone eaten here? What are the desserts like? I hate to order a cake and miss out on the desserts that the restaurant offers if there is anything that can't be missed. Reviews please:)

Ok, time for dinner so I need to run. The second part of our trip up next!
