My DS in currently serving in the USArmy and is out in the field--so no phone access. He called me the night before he left and said he had decided on a WDW honeymoon for 6/2002 wedding. Of course he expected that his mother could handle everything (like I always have) I had no idea what to expect so I looked up the SOG site----found it's closed for rehab and they're shifting everyone to CR. I called to see if they would allow me to book for him and the CM said she's not supposed to do it, but she felt like being nice today. I was so happy to get this taken care of. I was fortunate enough to know his pay grade and SS#--so they had everything they needed. They give service men/women a great rate--so I may just pay off the honeymoon for him. Just wanted to share a little good news. I booked a trip for myself the other night and have had the benefit of speaking with the most helpful CM's several times over the last few days. Now I know why a WDW vacation is my favorite.

I believe the agent (we are not CMs) was trying to be funny. We do it all the time. Wives make the rsvs for their husbands. Family members or friends or roommies make the rsvs for the sponsor stationed overseas (as in your case). As long as the person calling knows all of the pertinent information, we don't care who makes the reservation. :)

I don't think my DH would know what to do if he had to call and book his own vacation. He tells me to "call my friend" at SoG and get it taken care of :)

along the same lines....can I buy our tickets when we get to the CR and are they charging tax on them?

The ticket office is in room #7346 and no, there's no tax. :)

If we buy our tickets at our local base...would there be any problem with getting them added to our room key if we stay at a different resort than Contemporary?

Would there be any problem if we buy our passes at our local base and then have them added to the room key when we get to the resort? My dad was retired military so my mom is getting tickets for herself and my children. One of her friends told her that she wouldn't be able to do that and she would have to carry her military ID around with her to "prove" that she was eligible for the military discounted tickets. Does that sound right?

We have always had military discounted tickets as dh is DoD employee and we've never had to show ID once they were purchased. We could not have them added to our Disney room key tho.

You were able to get your son a room at the Contemporary for June of this year? I'm on the waiting list and i called over a month ago.

Just wondering

It's my understanding that the entire North Garden wing is now for SOG people. Of course, I also thought I was special because I was able to book it for him and then found out I was just ordinary folk. (Ha, Ha) I was surprised that it was available at this late date. Waiting for confirmation to come in the mail, then I'll breathe a sigh of relief. I hope you get the ressie you want.

SoG has the majority of the rooms in the North Wing, but not all of them. There are, approximately, 25-50 rooms still in the North Wing for the Disney guests. :)

I have a question for you FirstNo.

Are there different sized rooms in the North Wing? We're a family of 5 and she said that would be no problem fitting us since there's a day bed in the room with the 2 queen size beds.

Thanks!!

I'm not FirstNo, but we stayed in the South Garden wing and there were daybeds and 2 queen beds in all of those rooms. It's very large and comfortable.

Are ALL the rooms in the North wing decorated in those horrid (just my opinion) psychadelic bright colors? I was planning a 2-3 week trip for next year and I am not so sure I can look at this decor for that long...lol. I guess I could always throw the comforters on the corner of the room ;) if I had to.

Other than the jr. suite, all of the rooms we were given are the same size; 2 queens + a day bed. :)

LOL....yes, the decor is ugly (contemporary!), but I still like the Contemp. :)
