Hi, I am new to the board, but I have been reading, and this board is a wealth of information... I could not get my computer right for a little while now, so I'm glad I'm finally logged in here. We are making our third trip to Disney next year and I am really excited. Previously we have stayed at the CBR, CR-limited concierge, and the AKL-savannah view. This time we are doing the YC. I had originally thought we would do the BC but they will not guarantee me a full balcony- so we're going to live it up and try the concierge with a water view at the YC. Are there any particular rooms that give a better view at the YC? - I was told by a Dolphin resort reservationist that they have views of spaceship earth and fireworks. I hope I have made the right choice with the YC. How does the grotto pool and slide at the Dolphin compare to the YC's Stormalong Bay? If you could help me with some replies it would put my mind at ease. We are coming in from OH and this will be a big trip for us- both distance and money-wise. We will be here during the "busy" season- at the beginning of April. Thank you kindly...

In my mind, there is no comparison between YC and Dolphin. The YC is just simply awesome. There is no better pool than Stormalong Bay. Stick with the YC, you'll be glad you did!

travelin' girl,
From a fellow original Ohioan, I'd have to agree with BrianD and we've done both. Not faulting the Dolphin, it's really a terrific hotel but we LOVED the Yacht Club. Service was great, staff very friendly and you cannot beat the Stormalong Bay pool! I can't imagine you'll regret your decision if you stay at the Yacht Club.

Should we stay at the YC or the Dolphin? Our thinking is exactly the same as yours: should we go for the YC concierge (which is what I really think I want for the location and the great pool), or should we go to the Dolphin?

Here's what's complicating the issue for me: I'm a teacher, so I can get a great discount on the Dolphin. YC would be literally TWICE THE PRICE of the Dolphin. Is it twice as nice? That money would pay for quite a few character breakfasts and souveiners.

I'm still undecided!

As much as I would love to stay at the BC or YC, I just can't pass up the terrific teacher rate. We stayed at the Dolphin last August and received CL as a comp upgrade. We were thrilled and very happy with the resort and loved the Grotto pool. We are returning this July but this time to the Swan b/c of the heavenly beds. Another perk for staying at the S/D is spg points. We garnered enough points in the past year to stay at the Swan for 3 nights using spg's cash and points promotion - a terrific deal! For our extra night, we are using the teacher rate. The $$$ saved allows us PS at some of the nicer restaurants.

MrsPete,
As I said above, we've stayed at both. While the YC is very nice, it is definitely not worth twice as much.....considering all the other things you could do with that significant amount of $$$ !
The grotto pool is great but, beyond that, how much time do you really spend in your room or at your hotel. I loved Y & BC but my DH's client was paying for it. If it was our money, we'd have been at the Swan!
