Yankee Candles...Is this crazy?

I have some older YC, now I have to go and check and see if they are rare!

I didn't know that there was a patchouli Yankee Candle. Is it seasonal, or gone all together- I love the smell- my Aveda scent is essence 9 which is patchouli, sandalwood and something else. I have it in shampoo, conditioner, body oil, bathsalts and 'purefume'. I guess that counts as an addiction, hmmm?

Any info on that candle would be GREAT!

As much as I love my Yankee Candles, I can't imagine spending what they are asking for some of these candles on ebay. I have quite a few of the black band candles. Didn't realize they were worth anything.

Well, if anyone has any Granny Smith that they want to get rid of, I'll take them.

You guys are really telling me things I did not know.

The only reason I really love Granny Smith Apple is that it matches my bathroom perfectly and I love the "Fruit" scents much more than any other. I don't do Flower scents at all...

I love patchouli too.........around halloween there is Witches Brew, and that is patchouli,
you can usually find it in the outlet section year round.
we go to the flagship store in s. deerfield frequently and the first place i go is the discount room.........LOL

Same here! I used to work at the one in s deerfield during holidays. And after my shift ended, there was always about an hour before the store closed, so i would wonder into the discount room. I usually ran out of time from being in there. lol

Maybe I have missed them but I liked when they had the bags of votives for not a lot of money in the discount area. I think years ago they also had more in the discount room. The discount room sure has moved a lot over the years.

Every time I am in MA. I must visit the factory store. I love it.

Oh my goodness...I'm off to check my candle cabinet now. I think I have a bunch of "rare" and not-so-good smelling varieties in there just waiting to go on Ebay:rotfl:

ETA - I have eight of the black band "chocolate chip cookie" 22oz candles. I haven't burned them because I didn't like the smell when I received them. I bought them on cheap clearance with free shipping years ago...they're going up on Ebay, LOL! Check out this closed auction for 2 of this scent in the smaller 14.5oz jar:

We visited the Jeffersonville OH Yankee Candle outlet a couple of weeks ago and bought my mother a couple of her favorite, Sweet Melon, which has been discontinued. They were $15 for the large jars. One had the black band and one did not. The one with the black band had an obviously stronger scent than the other one.

THat place was absolutely packed from floor to ceiling with candles. If I had known I could make a few bucks by selling discontinued ones I would have spent a lot more money there!!

Patchouli is an online only scent, when available, or in a flagship store (Mass or Williamsburg, Va.) If it's online it's usually in the Back By Popular Demand section. We carry that in the retail stores in votives only, however you may find some odds & ends in the outlets. We also carry a Stress relief scent in our Spa Line which has patchouli in it - and how ironic - in the store yesterday someone told me that it smelled like her Aveda hair products - and she was right! I go to an Aveda Concept Salon (but don't routinely use their products) and it did smell like Aveda. So check out the Spa Stress Relief.

At Halloween, like someone else said, we used to carry Witches Brew which had patchouli in it. Last year they re-named it Purr-chouli (black cat - get it?) It had a hint of black licorice in it too. I'm not kidding when I say people line up outside when Purr-chouli comes in!

Every year there is a Back By Popular Demand section online & in some stores - I have the line-up for this year & Patchouli is on it again. It's usually in late spring & they send us maybe 24 jars of each & when they're gone they're gone.

Hope that's the Paychouli scoop you were looking for!

I love love love Granny Smith too. Our outlet has lots of Granny Smith - and the flagship store in Mass. had a lot too in December when I was there. Do you have an outlet near you? Now & then they send us some for a sale event like Columbus Day or the semi-annual sale. If you register online they will email you sale announcements so you can check it out.

Closest store is 8 HOURS away...:sad1:

I will get my Mom to look at Bed Bath and Beyond for me this fall when she goes back to Florida...

 8 hours, that's so sad! Like I mentioned before, If we run out of something in the store that we normally carry, I can have it shipped to you with no S&H...so if you're desperate for anything let me know, I'll watch to see if we run out. We're very low right now on large jars of Midnight Cove & Ocean Water.

Does the free shipping extend to Canada? That would be awesome.:thumbsup2

This is interesting because I am certain I bought Witches Brew last year at the flagship store. I didn't see any Purr-chouli........I got it from the regular section too.........I like Purr-chouli......cute name!
I will have to look for that in the fall!

Very possible - the flagships stores often carry entirely different things in their "regular" line. Purr-chouli sold out very quickly & was limited - maybe they knew this ahead of time & pulled out the Witches Brew for up there instead, or only sent Purr-chouli to retail stores. My favorite, Roasted Coffee, has been retired from retail stores for years, but it's in the regular line-up in Mass. Go figure! :confused3

I don't get it. But then, lots of people don't understand that I have $100-$200 baskets sitting around my house.

Poor Dh, I have it drilled into him that my Longaberger baskets are valuable. Do NOT throw them out if something ever happens to me. I love them and they are all over our home. For my own sanity I never tell Dh how much they are, he would complain if he only knew what holds the napkins was $65+.

Question about yankee candles. I only use the tarts right now. I like changing scents often and like not having to worry about blowing out the candles since the tea lights only last a couple hours. However, it can be a pain to light all of them. I've been thinking about buying some small jars but I'm afraid of the smell going away before I burn it all. I can only burn the tarts 2x before the smell is gone. On the third burn no one can smell them. So do the jars last longer.

Yes, the jars do last longer. A large jar can last over 150 hours. I suggest if you go the jar route, to be sure to use an illuma-lid. It truly does produce a more even burn, thus eliminating tunneling.
